  1. You are the one I was hoping to hear from! (No offense to any other responders!) THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I know that you're only supposed to rinse them and not use detergent, but if you do blackened steaks, fish, etc, how do you get them clean? I realize this is an extremely fascinating subject, so thank me in advance
  3. We shop Goodwill(s) alot and I can't recall seeing old wigs, but I'm thinking with some imagination (panty hose or ski caps, pieces of stiff rope for the snakes and, I don't know, something to make the snake heads...... I'm really starting to scare myself here....AND NO - I'M NOT A SERIAL KILLER!!!!!!
  4. t As it should be. I'm only giving out candy on October 31st, and I'm only celebrating Christmas Day on December 25th. Has New Years Eve been moved to a Monday holiday, or is that just New Year's Day.
  5. My two favorite Elvis songs. Thanks for the links! I was always more of a Beatles fan starting from the time I was younger than most of you can remember. My sister actually saw them here in Atlanta, I think the tickets were, at most $15.00 per person, but I want to reaaly say less than that. Back to Elvis - his '69 comeback concert was amazing! You can probably find it on Netflix, etc.
  6. Just thought I'd start this thread early. With this weather I'm ready to start decorating for Halloween, and I'm making a pot of chili for dinner. Talk amongst yourselves.
  7. Personnaly I was working at a drugstore in downtown Atlanta and a lady came up in tears and gave me the news. I was like "OK" But, weeks later I went to visit my brother in Memphis.....My Goodness! Was never a big Elvis fan myself, but I do remember that time. I remember just as much, and I was more impacted when I heard that John Lennon had been murdered. And, of course JFK and MLK. Dating myself here. Anyway....................
  8. Any thoughts on the reopened Catfish Den and the Steakhouse in Rockmart? TIA!
  9. Our 35th anniversary is next week, and we're trying to figure out things to do without spending a ton of money boarding our dogs and spending most of the time driving. I'd rather apply that money and time on actual things to do (or eat). After living in the Paulding/Cobb area for about the same amount of years, and both of us working in Atlanta, we've done all the obvious things, but there may be some "obvious" things we didn't discover. Any ideas are welcome. Please discuss. And TIA!
  10. I know, seems like this year my sister was talking snow well into April. It's also often hotter there in the summer there than here, same with Nebraska (family members used to live there too.) But, it is beautiful country.
  11. Have the Dakotas merged or did Fargo just decide to move south?
  12. My sister lives in Spearfish and my brother lives in Yankton - opposite sides of the state. I've been to the western side to visit her - beautiful country!
  13. My point was that the main complaint against PD is racial stereotyping. Although some see it as the use of the "n" word, which I abhor. If I'm not mistaken, the bulk of the lawsuit is against her brother for being an obnoxious pig whom she should have cut ties with years ago. That, and all these self rightous companies now dropping her like a hot potato (or ham - Smithfield, who is now owned by the Chinese). Also curious as to why she didn't just settle out of court as opposed to going to court to fight this stuff.
  14. "Uncle Bubba" truly sounds like a piece of work, and not in a good way. She should have kicked his arse to the curb years ago. But...regarding the outrage re her longing for the old timey days w/the old southern plantation wedding, etc.---anybody here or out there boycotting the Quaker Oats Company? As far as I can tell Aunt Jemima is still one of their major logos for syrup, pancake mixes, etc.
  15. Just somewhere that someone could fish from the shore locally. Went to Allatoona this morning, but without a boat (and even with one usually), it was a waste of time.
  16. Figured that must be the one. Thanks.
  17. Anyone know where on Mt. Tabor this happened?
  18. I must admit I've not read all the replies to this thread, but I now have "Rocky Raccoon" playing big time in my head - which is OK - one of my very favorite songs off "The White Album". Why is this a big deal? It being there might help some poor soul needing comfort. It may give somebody who forgot to buy a newspaper or magazine something to read and maybe they'll learn just some plain old history. It by itself is a bit of Americana. And if you don't want yourself or your kids to read it just don't open up that bedside table drawer where it's normally located. Hell, I'm a lo
  19. Getting some hail here - East Paullding - near old dragstrip.
