  1. Good thing we have global warming............80 in January is NICE!!! I think we're gonna have a BBQ and go swimmin!!
  2. Please do not use heaters that are for only outdoor use in the house!! Blankets and extra layers of clothing are much, much safer. Don't do anything stupid just to stay warm. Block off all other rooms and stay together in one, preferably a small room. The less outside wall, the warmer the room. If you have a generator, be sure it is placed in a area where the exhaust fumes cannot get in the house or garage. Even a window opened slightly to run the cord could allow carbon monoxide to enter your house. DO NOT PUT A GENERATOR IN AN ATTACHED GARAGE. And be very, very careful with cand

    WHOA!

Nope, not me. I did that last year, it wasn't fun.
  4. Homemade enchiladas and Spanish rice. Just seemed appropriate.
  5. And.you.didn't.invite.me??? WTH!!! Enjoy!!!
  6. This thread is unbelievable. NewsJunky when you get ready to close it, just pm a mod. It should have been shut down long ago.
  7. WTH does Sara Palin have to do with this?? It was politically motivated?? I just don't think this was appropriate at this time. It's pure speculation!! I'm just shocked anyone would bring politics in to this right now.
  8. Pubby that is not only what mrnn said...... I can't believe you're OK with his post and then you degrade the situation further?? Oh my!!
  9. There is a guy on 381 across from Industrial Drive (entrance to the shelter) that sells wood. Not sure on the prices but he had a bunch out there Thursday.
  10. Are you kidding me?? You didn't just post that, did you???
  11. I got 3 good books for Christmas, time to catch up on my reading.
  12. They predicted the storm in '93. I think they are saying this is similar. I didn't believe them in '93, not taking a chance this time around. LOL
  13. Thanks LPPT!! Very, very good info!! It's not the same as a Northern event. This is Georgia, we have little snow removal equipment. Why pay all that $ for something we use once or twice every 5 years. Stay home, be prepared to not have power for at least a week. Prepare for the worst, maybe it won't be as bad as they're predicting but better safe and warm than sorry.
  14. LOL, what ever makes you feel better. Just be safe. BTW, don't forget we live out in the middle of nowhere. We live in Paulding County, pay Paulding County taxes and have a Rockmart mailing address, a Dallas phone number, Carroll County EMC, live on a gravel road and our propane comes out of Buchanan. We are on the end of the power company's line, we're always last. I don't think anyone believes it will be a non-emergency out here in Yorkville.
  15. I was born in Kentucky and lived in Chicago for 18 years. I've lived here for 27. When it snows up North they have snow and ice trucks that go out and remove the snow and ice from the roads, yes even the side streets. We have very few snow removal trucks in Georgia and I'm not sure how many in Paulding, 1 I think. LOL Driving in snow is different in GA, it stays there for days. I know people say they can drive in ice but I'm not buying it. You glide over ice and hold on to the wheel very, very tightly with both hands. I'm staying home if this thing hits and preparing for the worst.
  16. Snow - could be up to 10 inches Sleet and freezing rain. Usually means a power outage for a while

Have you tired this yet?? I'm curious if it will work for you. It did for me, all three times. link
  18. I'm thinking boy too. With my first boy, I had to crunch on ice all the time, my daughter I craved toast, the youngest boy it was jalapeno peppers. I didn't eat jalapenos before that and I don't eat them now! LOL I do know, however, it will be a special baby!!
  19. Surely you'll let him use the leather one.
