Thanks SS, does anyone know the connection to Harvest Thrift Store?? I know Birdmom and the Endless Yard sale help the community in many ways as does Goodwill. Is Harvest a community resale shop??

Thanks BB and thanks for starting this thread BL. My mom absolutely loves, loves, loves thrift stores. Dad has to go to the VA hospital today for his cpap, so I'm gonna get her and take her shopping at the Thift Stores. I know she wants to check out Goodwill. Anyone else know of any good ones??? She is looking for some shelving units for her living room.

Some of the things for help wanted and got the goods unpaid are from 2005. Seems like a lot of wasted space, epecially since most of the stuff is sold, jobs have been filled, people have moved, etc. I don't go in there all the time and sometimes the posts I haven't read are already months old. Can't we just split it at least say, once or twice a year?? Can some of that be purged??

I moved here in 1983 from Chicago but am originally from Kentucky. There was only 1 red light here (by the Huddle House), the closest Wal Mart was in Marietta and the closest KMart was in Austell. Everything was at Paulding Plaza, the movies, the hardware store, Ben Franklin, the Gas Company, Food Giant.........the Winn Dixie was at business 6 and 120.

My crazy Uncle sent me 9 turnips from Southern Illinois. They have a neighbor that plants 5 acres every year for the community to use. If they don't get used, he just turns them under in the spring. I guess it is an ideal place for growing turnips, the box weighed 19 lbs..........that's two pounds per turnip!! These things are huge, bigger than a softball. Soooooooo, I'm not real sure what to do with them. I looked on line for some recipes and found several, has anyone tried anything that is yummy???

I went there (Kennesaw) for a meeting a couple of weeks ago. I was there about 1 1/2 hours, my clothes smelled like the varsity when I got home.................doesn't take long to smell like chili cheeseburgers and fries

MCMM, if I were you I'd back slowly out of this thread!! I know you have a great wife that appreciates you, but unless you have ever been at home 24/7 with a bunch of needy kiddos you cannot appreciate all us Mama's go through each and every day. When was the last time you cleaned up poop or puke off the carpet?? Oh me, this could get ugly.

OK I just checked my coffee scooper, it's about two tablespoons, I use 4 for twelve cups so that's 8 tablespoons for 12 cups. But if I'm only brewing say 8 cups, I use two scoops or 4 tablespoons. I guess since there is not as much water going through the grounds, it takes a little more to make less coffee. BTW, the cups on our coffee pots are usually 5-6 ounces, not the usual 8 ounces. I only use Folgers coffee, it somehow just tastes better/fresher to me but if you want great coffee you can grind the beans yourself.

I like my coffee, I guess you would say medium. Not too strong and not too weak. In a full pot (12 cups) I usually put 4 scoops of coffee grounds. And I have to have my 1/2 & 1/2 . I don't use much sugar and when I use the french vanilla or other flavorings it makes it too sweet for me. Now.............. I occasionally like mine with a little Baileys, cinnamon and whipped cream.

Get off the dam* phone if you're driving. I just don't understand all the "have to talk to them now!!" attitudes. WTH would these people have done when they had to wait to get home to call someone?? I'm sorry cell phone usage is necessary sometimes, but it is so out of control and so very, very rude!! Not to mention unsafe while driving.
