1. This was my latest find back on Monday, Chicken of the Woods. This was one of three grows on the same tree. I ended up with about 10 pounds of mushroom in the end...
2. I looked up White chanterelle on rogers mushrooms, a good mushroom site I use and saw them there. They're a west coast mushroom which might be why I've never spotted them on my hunts. Where did you see them? I saw the pics you posted, but I didnt see the white chanterelle. All my photos are on Facebook of my finds, including a huge Carrot-foot Amanita the looks like you could club someone with. poisonous of course.
3. I will once again like to tell my favorite lesson about Wild Mushroom hunting. There are three types of Wild Mushroom hunters... The living, the dead and the horribly injuried. Here in the South and Eastern United States, along with most of the English heritage nations, we were bought up that all wild mushrooms were poisonous, because of this in these areas, wild mushroom related deaths and injuries are rare. In Europe, the west coast of the US and Asia, where there is a tradition of wild mushroom hunting, along with collecting wild mushrooms for sale, that are collected and eaten by avid
4. Chanterelles did pretty well this year, I have several spots that I go back to year after year. Ive found two Mataki bunches but they had already gotten too old to eat, but I did get to taste the centers, they were wonderful. I found my first Chicken of the Woods, yesterday as I posted above, they freeze well and I have quite a lot of it...
5. Sorry, Ive been extremely busy at work, while not hunting mushrooms. I found a huge Chicken of the Woods yesterday, I only took half the lot and still ended up with 10 pounds of mushroom. I ate half a pound today stir-fried into a curry of Mushroom, corn and onions...
6. I gotta come out to your property, you find the wierdest mushrooms. The white ones are I believe are called Parachute Mushrooms, I saw them blooming in the woods behind the Dallas Pool a few weeks ago. The bottom ones are Stinkhorns I believe...
7. i dont recommend wild mushroom hunting unless you're gonna make it your hobby. There are no White Chanterrelles that Im aware of so that should clue you in as to not touch 'em. I'd stick with growing yourself for right now as that is the safer hobby. There are mushrooms out there, that happen to be the same orange color as Chanterelles and grow along with them, that have a 90% kill rate and you won't even know it for up to 4 weeks. Oh... and the 10% that survived did so because they knew they screwed up and got immediate medical treatment... AND NEW KIDNEYS...
8. There goes The national health care act. It's now got more holes in it than Swiss Cheese. But they will still make it stick to the common person, wiether they can afford it or not...
9. Any hotdog place is a hard sell down here in the south. They are usually way overpriced for the product, I've seen hotdogs that cost more than the price for a pack of expensive hotdogs at the store. Hotdogs have always been a cheap food here in the south, and pretty much every where else in the country, and people don't want pay the same price they pay for burgers even though they're the same weight product wise...
10. Many on here support that ones opinion should not be discriminated against simply for ones belief in that opinion. But do support laws and legislation allowing legal discrimination against those who do not share the business owners opinions??? You feel that it's unfair for a private company to fire it's employee for his support of groups against gay marage and his anti-gay opinions but it's ok for private businesses to discriminate against gay people, who have a different opinion than the owner of that business??? I'm confused here. Its OK for people to have whatever opinion they want but
11. I have a love/hate relationship with frog legs. There is no consistency as to their quality like there is with most other meats in this country. I've had some frog legs that were absolutely sublime in flavor, others that were so fishey tasting as to make them almost unedible. So it's always a crap shoot when buying froglegs from either a restaurant or from the store, it makes me hesitant to buy them because of the issue of Quaility...
12. Good and Evil, IMHO two of the most overused buzzwords humanity has ever come up with. There are times of horrible suffering and destruction bestowed by man upon their fellow men that many will label good and evil mostly to justify the speakers POV. We all can agree that anything that deprives an individual of Life, Liberty or the Pursuit of Happiness upon one who has not done so upon another as evil... Or can we? There are plenty on here and else where that will do just that and call it good, then even go so far as to blasphemy God Himself and say it was the "will of god". There is no do
13. I don't think the Russians have any intend of just stopping with the ethnic Russian areas, the Russian military will roll right over the Ukrainian military, if they don't outright surrender to the Russians first, and the Russians will simply re-install the former Pro-Russian government...
14. The last Ukrainian elections resulted in a ProRussian government in which many international observers called into question the legitimacy of the elections. A lot of people saw this coming. After the suspension of the 2004 Constitution and resulting backlash, Russian military intervention was inevitable. Europe and the US are talking total economic isolation against Russia and the UN will condem it, but not much can or will be done, the Russians know this. The hoped for solution is an ethnically split Ukraine, but I don't see that happening with Russia literally holding all the cards. Ukr
15. It's not surprising what is happening, the Russians had never wanted to let go of The Ukraine. They get a large part of their grain and many natural resources from there and still have operating military bases there also. All this actually started with Stalin right after WW2. Ukraine has never liked Russia and was taken over by the Russian Revolutionaries and forced to join the Soviet Union. When WW2 broke out, the Ukrainians pretty much welcomed the Germans with open arms. After the war and Germany's defeat, Stalin wanted to punish the Ukrainians for their actions so he has many of the e
16. Some of the comments I've seen on local restaurants and their health scores and the general nastiness that comes from some on this board would have people screeching at the top of their lungs and running away in terror at this restaurant... and that would be without ever even tasting a bite of the food. With very few exceptions most of the restaurants in Paulding are mundane and uncreative industrialized prefab food. I was at Folks, which I do like, and found a plastic bag top in my Chicken and Dumplings, it was from where they cut the bag open to dump the "made from scratch" frozen dumpling
17. Right now I am sitting in my favorite Pho restaurant over off of South Cobb Dr. There are literally no comparable places to this around. If this was in Paulding people would be nit picking and fits over this hole in the wall place, but the food here is head and shoulders above anything in Paulding. It's done right and that's all that matters...
18. NC, you're talking to hate. It is blind and deaf to all around it. It will always and continuously justify itself. It will never bend nor yeild, it can only be destroyed by itself and all you're doing is feeding it, giving it reason for continued existance. Let it be...
19. Religion and Politics walk hand in hand. It always has, almost from the inception of any and all religions. Not just Islam. Religion would exist on the level that it does in many Conservative Islamic countries here in the United States if not for the deeply embedded ideal of government by the people, for the people, not one group of people or one sect or religion of a people. Many religious groups and people have the idea that Christianity would some how be above Islam and more religion needs to be in government. That Christianity is somehow the founding principles of this government. The
20. You know what hate is, don't try to redefine it to justify any desecision that inflicts harm and suffering upon your fellow man for no other reason than ones interpretations and desires. You are right though, many do use the term while trying to twist their justification for their actions upon their fellow man. They do the same with words like terrorist, Nazi, racist, anything like that to justify, politically or religiously, that their position is somehow superior in the eyes of man and "god". But the end result is always to inflict harm and suffering upon another. Life, Liberty and the p
21. Excuse me? Me topic started out about the seemingly hypocritical legislation based on religious context that allows discrimination in bussinesses based on wiether or not a owner is religiously offended by the customers while at the same time making sure foreign religious laws cannot be applied to legal cases, such as discrimination against Christians or women based on Islamic religious laws. It is hypocritical and neither should be allowed at all. The only person who has presented a valid opposing opinion on the topic was Mathetes. Others started railing against Islam and Muslims as if I h
22.

Listen to yourself, you're frothing at the mouth. You're beating your chest with anger and hate. You declare yourself a Christian yet would have no problem inflicting despair and suffering upon your fellow man. I would say you are no better than the zealots you rail against, except you are EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE. Your mind is filled with visions of glory in the presence of "The Lord" while hate screams in your mind at the presence of your enemies as you fly that passenger airliner full of the unworthy into the World Trade Center. I do have to Thank Y
