  1. Atlanta was caught fudging its criminal stats on more than a few occasions. No reason to believe that states and cities with big tourist and business interest are not doing the same to lower their rank on such "stats"...
  2. We have eaten there quite a few times already and I think the place is wonderful. They're not afraid of spice either, we've been able to get our food very spicy. It's a really good place...
  3. Think you own your home??? Miss a couple of mortgage payments and see how long it's yours. Don't pay your Property Taxes and see how long it's yours. If the Local, State or Federal Government needs it, see how long it's yours. Your "rights" of land ownership only exist at the leisure and whim of the government...
  4. Well it goes back to my original statement of be it $3000 or $13000, the average American household would not be able to take a hit like that no matter which amount is correct. While $3000 doesn't necessarily equate to a great amount to those who make over a certain amount, most do not have that much in savings to cover such a cost. But the original question remains, how will this new law change anything of the current situation in healthcare cost, for the average person or the Hospital that has to eat the cost when the person can't pay... Shall we resort back to debtor's prisons? Or how a
  5. I didn't say anything about the hospitals not eating the cost now. They are, be it homeless people who can't afford the $13000 medical bills or the middle class average joe who can't afford the $13000 medical bill either. How will this new law change anything at all? A person cannot be denied medical service in this country. If you walk into an ER right now you will be treated wiether you can pay or not. Homeless Cancer Patients and Dialysis treatments for all or no incomes are available. The only difference is the Tax Payers pick up the tab that charity groups cannot. But the problem f
  6. Here's what I'm wondering. Be it a $3000 deductible or a $13000 deductible, if you don't have the money, you don't have it. Most Americans live basically paycheck to paycheck, they don't have $1000 in savings, much less $13000. They are not going to be able to pony up those kinds of funds. So what then??? The hospital is gonna have to eat the cost and raise rates because of those who can't pay...
  7. ^^^ This is what you're telling the Paramedic after that spectacular fall off that ladder and down three flights of stairs and everyone is amazed that you somehow survived...
  8. Trying to raise the debt ceiling... This will not end well...
  9. The knife, of course. The forks we know have only been around since pretty much the Romans, spoons little longer than that. We've been using knives and slicing tools since we lived in caves. You can drink soup out of a bowl. But with a knife you can cut up and process your food into bite size pieces then eat it with your fingers. That's the way the common man did it since mostly only the rich could afford tableware. A good stout knife is all you need at dinner time, everything else is a luxury...
  10. Sorry, I personally believe it's a cash cow scam by the Pharmacutical Industry and takes advantage of people with fear mongering and fact twisting. It's supported by the Federal Government because of lobbyist from drug manufacturer that have convinced public health officials to perpetuate the scam with misinformation programs. :glare:
  11. ^^^ This answer right here is the main issue of this whole debate and I dare say even connected to the health care issue in this country (along with the insurance companies to some extent). The Pharmacutical Industry in this country are the largest lobbyist groups in Washington DC and have more sway over the health industry second only to the Insurance Industry, and Public health policy and legislation. One question that has to be asked about the Affordable Health Care Act is who profits most from this act of legislation? The Drug and Insurance Industry, that's who...
  12. It's not just there, but many locations. I can't count the number of "cyclist" I've almost sent to oblivion because the dumbasses don't obey the stop signs and ride right across. If I hit one, its not going to be an accident, it's going to be suicide on their part...
  13. They are in a predominantly Catholic country and this is exactly what you said it was, Grandstanding. They saw how similar actions by companies have provided gains in their pocketbooks, so they're just jumping on the band wagon. I imagine it has gone over well in Italy and maybe even provided an upswing in their profits in some way. I don't buy the stuff anyways, they are way too pricey, way too much carbs and make me fart...
  14. Just more garbage to add to the legend. I've heard so many variations and additions to what really happened, it makes my head spin. It's just people adding more and more to make it a better story to tell, I guess...
  15. I knew both Carmen and Camille in High School. Carmen never acted odd or out of place around me, just seemed like one of the guys. I had heard about his tyrades on the bus though, getting up and preaching the Bible. Camille was a sweetheart of a girl that I had always had a crush on but never told her. I was crushed when I heard Carmen had murdered her and his family... Carmen was a pretty big guy back in school, 6'2" or 6'3" if I remember right...
  16. The only example a cruel or abusive parent can be to their children is what not to be and serve as a warning to others...
  17. I was trying to give you a positive and it hit negative, sorry... I've been eating at the Hickory Hut since I was 6. It's still pretty much the same place it was 40 years ago. It's still the best. As far as ribs go I prefer my ribs Chinese Style, but there isn't any place around here that serves it that way. I have to make the Chinese style ribs myself at home...
  18. Be it that I fix Uverse, phone and DSL in people's homes and businesses, customer service has been my middle name for the last 16 years. But I learned a long time ago that there are just some people with chips on their shoulders waiting for anyone to cross that invisible line in the sand they've drawn. If they are angry when I get there and my disarming personality won't calm them down, I simply tell them that I am there to help, if they do not want my help, I will leave. Most people are very happy to see me when I arrive to a service call, some are not. I have had to leave a customers loc
  19. I've seen some fennel bulb for sale here and there in the stores around here. But it must not be a popular veggie, I don't guess many people know what to do with the stuff...
  20. How dare you call Aioli, mayonaise. You'd get a beating if you dared called Aioli, mayonaise in front of a Frenchman. Did you make your own Aioli??? I've made it before "traditionally" with a mortar and pestle. Talk about a hand cramp-a-thon. I'm using a blender next time and kicking any frenchmans ass if they say anything about it...
  21. It's never an issue until Halloween falls on a Sunday. In order to appease the local religious voter block into dreaming that they still are somehow relevant in the role of the local government, they have been moving it to the Saturday before. Here's an idea for those who insist on calling Halloween "beggars night", lets come up with some equally degrading name for Christmas, like Present Giving Day or Moochers Day...
