  1. Did you ever see that movie 'mouse trap'? Here's a story that sounds like it came right out of that script:

Apparently a guy in New Mexcio found a mouse in his house, he caught it, and wanting to get rid of it, he tossed it into a pile of leaves he had burning outside! (OUCH - that had to hurt, the mouse that is!)..well...the now flaming mouse jumped out of the leaves, he ran back into the house, and the house burnt down! Guess that's one mouse that payed attention when he watched that 'mouse trap' movie huh, or maybe mouse 'stars' go to New Mexico when they retire! laugh.gif

Full story here (and I believe this happened in New Mexico (NM) but the headline right now says NJ (New Jersey) - maybe they'll correct that blooper later on!):

  3. Oh no, that is such a hard decision - their sons dog and he is over in Iraq - to tell him or not to tell him..I know exactly how hard this is for them as I lived something similiar years back - I won't give advice as they have to follow their heart but just let them know that others understand. Good luck to them!

  4. If I were you I don't think I'd book with RCL right yet until you get some things answered/ straightened out about the one you are supposed to be booked on. You may want to go to the Clark Howard site, to the message board section, TRAVEL, and input your questions - you will get a lot of valuable advice from people that know what you need to do/ should do in this situation.

The main URL is this: :

And this one below should take you direct to the TRAVEL message board...you'll need to register to post but it's free:

    Clark Howards TRAVEL message board

There also are other boards on his site that you could post on if you want to also...sometimes someone else may have had the same issue so suggestions may be out there already but I skimmed several of the boards for you where I thought this sort of topic may located but I didn't come across anything simliar so you'll likely have to post iyour issue to get suggestions - or go to Clark himself - his home page has info on the way to contact his team of experts. Good luck to you!

  5. I don't know about ear piecing at Prestige, but I have gone in there several times to look at and buy things and get watch batteries replaced and they have always been very helpful and nice, one time they even told me the watch wasn't worth putting a battery in but they did it so nicely that it wasn't offensive, not like they were being snooty or anything, I mean, they could have made me feel stupid or like put me down for asking, but they didn't..not that any of that helps you with knowing how they are on ear piercing though but just from my experience it seems they have pretty high standards.

  6. Doran Mabry, a Berry College senior, receives help from the HOPE scholarship, which pays as much as $3,000 for tuitions to private colleges. She said the change probably would not have affected her decision to choose advanced classes as a student at Pepperell

I thought HOPE pays $3,000 for public or private, in state period.

    ?

HI Nanny, This student goes to Berry College, which is in Rome Ga, and she gets Hope tuition. She is saying that the change that is going into affect regarding advanced placement classes not being counted higher than a regular class would not have affected her decision when she took advanced classes when she was in High School, at Pepperell. Did you maybe misunderstand what the paper stated, or am I misunderstanding your question as it looks to me you thought she went to an out of state school? ..or maybe I'm not reading the statment in the paper correctly myself?? Either way, I'm with the most of you in thinking that this will deter some high schoolers from taking the harder classes, but for others, it probably won't make a difference.

  7. On the maching gun thing, just that I was sort of surprised to read a Dallas resident named in the story, which I guessed to be Paulding unless some of Dallas crosses into another county. I had just read the story earlier when I made the original post, and it just hit me wrong at the time as it was the third thing I had seen about our county in such a short amount of days. Here's the link to the story titled "12 admit to machine-gun sales" , it's not much:

  8. It is only 5 days into the New Year, and actually, the 5th isn't even through, yet Paulding County already has an alleged attempted carjacking/rape, a man found dead in his truck, and a Dallas man allegedly being involved in illegal machine gun activity, and these are only the ones I've heard of, what more has gone on in this New Year! It's not Mayberry anyone I guess, but it probably hasn't been for quite some time...this just seemed like a lot of negative news in the first 5 days of this New Year. So much for "Peace on Earth", Holiday Joy, and all those good feelings! :(

  9. The way I understood it this happened early this morning, when people are on their way to work and there is a lot of traffic out on 278/ 92/ Pace Road and that entire area - so if you think you saw something you very well may have details that are needed - relay it to the hiram Police department!

Always be alert, always be cautious, and if, God forbid, you are ever caught in this sort of situation - make a break if you can! I have no doubt that this lady was scared but she didn't let fear stand in the way of her escape, that took a lot of courage, and I applaud her!

  10. So now I've got another question and I know this has probably all been talked about many times but since it came up again - I see some people that are against this airport, saying things like nothing good will come out of it, but tell me, what do you see that is so bad about it, I mean, if you are against it this much you must have some reasons for why you think it's bad so tell me what those are? I'm really not trying to be a smartA, but I'm really curious as to why someone would be so dead set against this?

  11. I saw the various titles but I was skeered to read them because I thought that maybe she kept finding those parts of someone(s) somewhere(s)! ..I was waiting for her to post her find of the 'interesting' part(s)! :ninja:

  12. Catching an EMU, no problem! You start by cornering it against a fence, building, something solid like that; then walk up behind it as slow and easy as you can, trying not to agitate it (anymore than it already is at this point!)...then...grab its wings from behind - watch their legs, they will try to kick and their three toes are razor sharp - good idea to be wearing arm length leather gloves, and some real thick pants wouldn't be a bad idea either! So now, after about a million tries, and lots of cussing, and some good luck (lots of good luck!), you finally caught it (are you still alive - who has the video!)..you walk it to where you want it to be...yep that's how it's done..or you could always shoot it - that works! ..with a tranquilizer gun of course, what did you think I meant?!?! :p

  13. Surely there is someone on here that knows the GA Southern thing and why? I've always heard it's greens (explained above as money), blackeyed peas (explained above as luck), pork (buy why?) and cornbread (but why?) - anyhow that's what I had but I have no idea why..just cause when I moved here some 20 years ago several people told me that is the stuff you are supposed to be eating on this day or be 4ever cursed through the year - now the way I figured it is that I have enough people cursing at me through the year w/o more so I adhere to instructions! cursed, get it? Aw, forget it!

  14. Aw, it's just the PCSO way of saying HAPPY NEW YEAR!

..and by the way..if you've been calling things in for about a year it's probably taken at least that long to build a good case that will stick, and the show of force - not that unusual if you consider who and what they may be dealing with. <_<

  15. OMG - if this is Travis's bird, we'll be hearing a song about it soon..I lost my EEEMMMUUUU, he flew, my EEEEMMMUUUU, they said he couldn't, but he did, that EEEMMMUUU flew, oh yes he did, was it Charlie's doing, that 'ol dog, or maybe it was Wade, or Reba, she likes fun and games, naw, it had to be Garth and Trish, yeah that's for sure, news may be late but when he heard, my EEEMMMUUU, he just flew...er..uh..I'm sure he'll come up with somethig better than that! :p
