  1. PUBBY, Do you practice censorship here for the sake of protecting intellectual property rights or for the sake of the bottom line's greenness? I honestly don't know if both of Georgia's senators are Republicans or not. The tact suggests they both are. Either way, which Ds supported the same legislation our did so that we might also know which ones support corporate greed.
  2. You said "think". You don't really mean it......do you? Seriously, I'm pretty sure Leftism is an identifyable mental disorder. It's the inability to see politics in anything other than idealistic terms. They never seem to even dabble in the problems of implementation of their ideals, much less their impact.

  4. Someone in the next 'hood over got a pistol (I think) for Christmas. It was fired--I dunno --500 times. I figure it's a pistol because it seemed to have a 15-rd magazine. It wasn't next to my house, so they're good. I hear full-auto from the house some times. I'd like to get-in on that action some time.

Thanks for the clarification GT. I can hear the strips at Dallas Nebo and 61 from my house GD. I'm with the WTF-ones with this one.
  6. If the '87 IROC Camero is an available accessory--with the deep scratches in the t-tops from the OOPS! I forgot to latch them AGAIN!--I want one to give to my wife next crimmus.
  7. I'm sorry about that and the point is well taken. But, I think the analogy, though not perfect, is still accurate. Good luck with it. It would annoy the hell out of me, but I'd probably tolerate it so that the sheeze I do, that is innocuous to me but unknowingly maybe not to others, is tolerated. I have tolerance problems with when someone is being annoying. Go ahead and run a torture chamber in your basement, neighbor, but please have the victims gagged during non-daylight hours. OK?

    Stop Signs

There might be a requirement--a law--that stop signs are erected for some number of months before traffic light can be erected. Experience suggests this might be true.

Yep. Analysis must be a great mystery to some people. I'd take a wild guess that there's a requirement that stops signs are erected before traffic lights so as to get people used to a new control at an intersection. People will damn-sure be made familiar with the new control for the reasons you cite. Otherwise, if a light is erected before a sign, folks going through the intersection at speed might not immediately notice they're OK doing so only becasue the light they didn't notice happened to be green. The next time, the unnoticed light might have just turned red.....
  10. Amen. It might be automatically annoying to some people, but it's automatically dangerous to no one.

I guess I'll have to find me another, equally suitable intersection for showing off my stupidity bravery.
  12. I'm just not feeling it. P.S. Kidding--funny stuff. P.P.S. You get extra points for insulting yourself---dirtbag!

  14. I don't mean for the following to read like smart-ass remarks, but here goes: the gun being fired out back, though far more annoying, is, depending on circumstances, as dangerous, or not at all dangerous, as the car being driven on street out front. Like with a gun, who is driving the car is a far more clear indicator of its inherent danger than what kind of car it is or where it's being driven. Going beyond this objective analysis is to apply subjectivity. I'm a "gun nut", and to plunge into subjectivity, head first: I don't want a gun being fired in my neighborhood--at all. If it were

  16. I got to know a Mormon when I used to go to Utah a lot, early in my career when I was just a rocket scientist. I would go to Thiokol who made the space shuttle boosters. Gary might well have been the Flanders model in the Simpsons show. My fellow young engineers and I didn't know our asses from holes in the ground, but Gary didn't seem to mind. Incredibly nice and technically capable man. The success of my design (though it wasn't built) in large part was the result of Gary's patients.
  17. The only questions that matter politically are: 1) What's the speaker's career goal? 2) Does enough of the speaker's electorate agree with the statement so that the statement results in a gain in votes and/or popularity? Being that there is no meaningful voter qualification, whether a politician's words are right or wrong in a moral sense ain't got a GD thing to do with the election process. P.S. Assuming Romney gets the nomination, Mr. Obama's campaign slogan might well be He's not a real Christian (but unfortunately, he's close enough.) Mr. Romney's slogan might be I might not be

  19. Whatever tent you buy, imagine yourself changing cloths in it before buying it. Get one you can at least sit-up in, if not stand up in. The temperature range thing makes no sense to me. It seems to be more about how long you intend to stay in it--its durability--than its actual temperature range. Whatever temperature hoarding capability it might have (assuming it's unheated) means it will get wet on the inside. Moisture is the enemy, especially in winter. You want it to be vented, not unvented. You want taped seams in the tent, or otherwise sealed seams. Notice how the rain fl
