Local Politics (and our scumbag politicians)
thedeerslayer replied to cmorg's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'd bet that most folks north of Braswell Mt. rd on 61 do their shopping in other counties, especially the residents on Dabbs Bridge rd.It closer for us to go to the Ingle's on 113 and Ladds. -

I already boycott Elrods -

I follow the local politics more and believe that's where the problems start. If we are making sure the city and county elected officials are held accountable the state reps will notice and act accordingly. I don't know about Howard Maxwell, but Micah is well aware of the shenanigans of the county corrupt. -
So sad.....All they wanted was to be heard in court. .I have talked with Thad about what happened and I've talked to someone that worked for the county at the time.Me thinks someone well connected in the county screwed up big time and if you are found to be in violation of the safe drinking water act,you are looking at fines and jail.

And yet still so loud when you're hunting on the WMA trying to spot that deer you've heard walking.

Could y'all imagine the founders of this great country, after the revolution going door to door collecting taxes.Taxes for a new horse and buggy plant that was conceived in a secret meeting. -
There goes Tundra, reading other people's opinions again and thinking for herself.Have we not told you, that's useless. We will take your money and do as we see fit.Just write that check,or we'll take your house.

And my little brain just can't grasp the thought that we have people actually saying"Go ahead Mr.Chairman, you know what's best for us" Folks, there are people in Paulding County right now that struggle to make their mortgage payments every month. And our chairman wants to add to their debt more. Business and industry are not the future of this county.......People are,if we take care of our neighbors and look after one another industry will come, but don't force it. Elected officials should strive to be like platform divers, the less of a splash you make the higher your score

To me,it's just sad, when you can look down from google earth and wonder why in the world did we allow an airport to be built in the middle of those woods. With the busiest airport in th U.S. 30 miles away? You say, well it's there we have to make the most of it.So now we reward bad behavior?
-
Well heck yea they would be for it.All they have to do is buy a ticket. The residents of Paulding get to pay for all the other crap we don't want but are forced to. Have y'all ever heard how loud those jet turbines get just to warm up?.........Now see,I know that you could be on the other side of one of the ridges that run parallel to the runway and you may not hear much at all.But there are hollows and valleys at the end of the runway that channel all that noise into people's houses.
-
I really think the division is caused from the top down.If they would get some good management at the airport, the let Jamie Gilbert do his job and attract more business.Allow the airport to grow on pace with the economy, don't shove it down peoples throat. It seems the folks in charge are wanting the airport to grow as fast as the housing did,but then they ignore what happened when the house market busted.
-
I don't have a clue about the lease and such. What I'm upset about and trying to get folks to realize is this airport authority can now levy taxes just like the school board......Who gave them that right? We citizens have got to stop this needless spending all in the name of job creation. Yeah,I've talked with the Morrison's........Look at how much the county spent so they WOULD NOT have their day in court..........that is scary
-
And you don't find the least bit troublesome? What if the county picked another project that has nothing to do with the M&O of Paulding that you disagreed with and made you pay for it? My God,can you people quit sucking on the governments teat long enough to come up for air and look around?
-
And see,you trade money for merchandise at Macy's or Gimble's of your own free will. The airport authority wants to take your money to use as they see fit and what do you get in return?

ARTICLE http://fee.org/the_freeman/detail/why-government-cant-create-jobs Why Government Can't Create Jobs It is a fallacy of the Keynesian legacy that government can reduce unemployment. OCTOBER 01, 1993 by MARK AHLSEEN Mark Ahlseen is associate professor of economics at King College in Bristol, Tennessee. Any nation needs a certain number of government employees in order to function. But ever since the Employment Act of 1946 a different view of government employment has emerged: that government can alleviate downturns in economic activity by spendi

Cliff McGrady - Hiram code enforcement

Neighbors on both sides of me put in a lot of hours at their jobs. One is out of town a lot.We have all lived beside each other for 15 years.I cut their yards once a week on the same day I do mine. A person that lives up the street will call code enforcement when she thinks peoples grass is too high. Heck,I don't mind pushing a lawnmower a few hours a week, good exercise. -
