  1. I took the time one afternoon to look into the little shops. I didn't see anything I would be interested in. I'm not into antiques. And where are all the places to eat that you speak of? I haven't eaten "uptown" since the old bus station closed down years and years ago. The city of Dallas doesn't want change, and that's ok, but it could be such a quaint place for gatherings.
  2. The city of Dallas does not want any progress. The folks that live there and own the property like it just the way it is. Unlike so many small towns and squares around us that have put money into renovations and welcoming new business, Dallas will never change. It's a town lost in time and will never change.
  3. Happy thanksgiving everyone! I got a lot of dishes made today so I won't be worn out tomorrow. Enjoy your families!!
  4. Marietta Diner and you get more food than you can eat! Great place for Thanksgiving if you get there around 2-3 after the rush before the next rush.
  5. I've been eating the chicken I'm pulling off the bone for the dressing.
  6. Don't forget this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX6bQkiu8JI
  7. The picture just struck me funny Blue Origin: Amazon's Jeff Bezos Successfully Launches, Returns Rocket . By ALYSSA NEWCOMB 23 hours ago Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos said his private spaceflight company Blue Origin has successfully launched a rocket and landed it back on Earth -- a feat that could help make space travel more affordable for the masses. Launching from Texas on Monday, Bezos' New Shepard crew capsule and propulsion module blasted into space with no passengers on board. After reaching its planned test altitude of 329,839 feet, the vessel returned to
  8. I also miss family Laurie. But it comes with aging. I'm an only child so I've never had a big family, just me and my kids and my mom. It was my husband, that passed away in 1998, that had a big family. 5 brothers and sisters and his parents had big families, and there was always a reunion, or a get together and Thanksgivings were always large. I miss that. I miss my mom. Now I'm the glue that keeps my little family together. I keep telling them they better learn from me while they can, and they're going to miss me when I'm gone. LOL
  9. Brined/Baked turkey Cornbread Dressing Gravy Deviled Eggs Green Beans Mashed Potatoes Sweet potato casserole Mac & Cheese Fresh Creamed Corn And a pecan pie that I made myself. And I'm making the dinner with a little help from my daughter. My mother always made the pecan pies and coconut cake. This is my first year making one. She always made the dressing too. Bon Appetit and Happy Thanksgiving!
  10. I can certainly remember my share of Thanksgiving dinners at family members homes and my own home. Thanksgiving can bring a lot of emotions to the surface and mix that with a little alcohol, you can see some drama on Thanksgiving. But with this explanation of what the consumption of food does to your heart, brain and your digestive system, you could actually gird your loins, time your consumption of drink and food and actually maintain some sembalance of command of your body and emotions. I've seen drama and I'm sure some of you have seen drama, some funny, some not so funny. But
  11. My understanding is because it's national or international news, it can stay in the cafe.
  12. I saw that on the news, thanks to an Uber driver who thought the men were suspicious and called 911.
  13. Easy Off works better and is less expensive. I've tried every cleaner out there.
  14. I bought a brand new bucket, but I will put a garbage bag in it. I use oven cleaner on my ceramic stove top. After years of scrubbing and scrubbing with baking soda, I thought one day, why not? I tried it on a small part and it worked. Now no more scrubbing. Except the daily mess. Except I don't cook daily
  15. Watch Syrian Rebels Blow Up a Russian-Made Helicopter . Foreign Policy Magazine By Henry Johnson 1 hour ago The same day that Turkish forces shot down a Russian jet for allegedly violating Turkey’s airspace, Syrian rebels affiliated with the Free Syrian Army published a video purporting to show their fighters blowing up a stationary Russian-made helicopter on YouTube. http://news.yahoo.com/watch-syrian-rebels-blow-russian-193312763.html
  16. Explosion hits bus carrying presidential guards in Tunis . Associated Press By BOUAZZA BEN BOUAZZA 39 minutes ago An explosion struck a bus carrying members of Tunisia’s presidential guard in the country’s capital Tuesday, killing at least 12 people and wounding more than a dozen others in what the government described as a terrorist attack. The blast on a tree-lined avenue in the heart of Tunis is a new blow to a country that is seen as a model for the region but has struggled against Islamic extremist violence. Radical gunmen staged two attacks earlier this year that killed 60 peop
  17. Why? That's exactly what I'm using, it will fit in the frig downstairs. Guess I could put a garbage bag in first.
  18. I'm doing the turkey this year and I'm brining it with Kosher salt. I've read where people add oranges, lemons, peppercorns, thyme, rosemary, allspice, garlic, onions Alton Brown does a little brown sugar. I was going to do the oranges and lemons, and peppercorn. Would garlic and onions be good with that? I don't care for spices, especially allspice and rosemary. What do you add?
  19. Actually most of what I saw was overpriced. Some booths are really nice and then some look like a yard sale. I know it would be a lot of work to get my stuff there. My daughter would have to do it. I'm still thinking.....it's just that I have so much stuff that I would like to sell for something instead of giving it away. And I don't know how to work it on eBay.
  20. Thanks for the info. I talked to a few folks there and they're pleased with how their stuff is selling And you can run items through the auction on Thursday night as well. I'm still thinking. I've got to sell enough to pay my booth rental.
  21. Aww Eddie, you're so sweet and yes, I do love ya!! Thank you And I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I'm thankful and looking forward to this one!!
  22. Fortunately for me, I learned to forgive when I was 27, almost 40 years ago. It's the only way to free yourself from the past and present. And I come from a place of a abuse growing up with a tremendous amount of hate. Even though I forgave one of the worst men in my life and went to see him on his dying bed out of respect for my mother, I never spoke to him or gave him a hug. I can forgive, but I don't forget.
