  4. I've always said, there is no doubt when you have the flu. You won't have to question it. I've had it twice. You wake up, open your eyes and feel like you have been run over by a truck. You KNOW you have the flu. Severe dry cough with fever. And I felt so bad that if I laid there and died, it would be okay. That's the flu.
  5. True. I forgot about that.
  6. Love me some Adam Lambert. And I wanna see the movie too!
  7. But Mark, I'm not a Yankee. I don't care how they do it. This is the south and we've ALWAYS done Halloween on Halloween. Now if these folks that are confused are from one of those states, then they will learn how we do it down here.
  8. It amazes me too! People were trying to get up near the Elk and the ranger was making them go back. I wouldn't do it anyway, they are huge animals and could easily charge and kill you, but especially this time of the year when they are mating.
  9. I'm really not a gambler. And I had heard that Harrah's doesn't pay good. I won a dollar. Out of $15. Does that mean I won, or I lost That's why I don't gamble
  10. It didn't take us but about an hour to get over the mountain coming back, it was about 3 in the afternoon. But going up we turned onto the road to Clingman's Dome, that 7 miles took forever! But the road were actually freezing with snow and ice coming out. By the time we were on our way back across the mountain, they had closed the road to Clingman's Dome.
  11. That's what I told my husband. Since they're in rut now, I wouldn't want to get close. That's why the pciture is from the car. yep. we were on the Cherokee side.
  12. I've never understood why Halloween Trick or Treating has to be so confusing. You Trick or Treat on Halloween. Like we used to do. Always on Halloween. And how the heck can you confuse Saturday night for Friday night? I just don't get it
  13. This one ain't HALLOWEEN but it sure is funny!
  14. I found this in a search: Bringing Elk Back to the Smoky Mountains This is a 500,000-acre national park and only 54 elk live in it. Each of the elk has been given a radio collar and ear tag so the park can keep tabs on them. It is part of the effort to bring the elk back from near extinction. "But they did exist here 200 years ago," Murrow said. Smoky Mountain officials say they made sure these animals are free of disease. The elk are originally from Canada, from Alberta's Elk Island, from a herd there known to be healthy and quite hearty.
  15. I cropped and enlarged this one so you could see the rack. Is this an Elk or a deer? I thought it was an elk but now I'm not so sure.
  16. Thanks. Me too...........I would rather have gone to the beach but I compromised with my husband because he likes the mountains. And it's our anniversary, so it was the right thing to do. Thanks Me either, that's why I didn't get out in this cold and wind. And I sure wasn't walking around Gatlinburg in the rain and cold.
  17. I call it Daylight Savings time and I wish it was year-round.
  18. NOT! There were plenty going over the mountain, and I don't think they had planned on snow or it being SOOOOOOOOOO cold!!!!
  19. Next weekend will be better for the changing of the leaves. With the cold snap this weekend, they should be really pretty. Have a great trip!
  20. and this is why it's THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS SNOWMAN!! coming back from Gatlinburg was a whole herd of Elk
  21. We headed out to North Carolina Friday just to get away for a couple of days and kick back. We stayed at a beautiful hotel on the river in Dillsboro, NC, 15 miles from Cherokee. Went to Harrah's Friday night. First time, last time. I don't gamble. Saturday we headed to Cherokee to go over the mountain to Gatlinburg. And it SNOWED!! And it was beautiful. It was like a winter wonderland, just mountain sides full of snowy Christmas trees. Even though it was cold and windy it was such a treat! We rode up to Clingman's Dome, It is the highest point in Tenness
