How did y’all make it through the hurricane?

The El Governor lost the Annex but the hotel is ok per messages on FB. So I dont know that for a fact. No cell service down there. The Lookout Lounge is gone which was right at Beach Bums house but she doesnt know anything yet about her house yet. Toucans was blown away. TWC showed Mexico Beach. Its flattened. Besides the 150 mph winds they had 12-14 storm surges. Panama City is torn up. They were out at 231 and all the rail cars were blown over. The marina at Captain Andersons was blown away.

Toucan’s is gone and so are many of the homes there. There’s rumors about the El Governor being collapsed. Just a rumor. But I know Mexico Beach was washed away. St George Island was window deep in water. I have friends that have homes in both places. Haven’t heard from them yet. They’re here and safe but they don’t know about their homes yet.

I think for us it’s not going to be nearly as bad as Opal in ‘95. I had 3 trees on my house. It’s taking a more easterly route and we’ll get rain and wind but not like Opal. The storm surge is huge. I have friends on the coast down there and I’m afraid they’ll get flooded. They’re like at sea level.

And our taxes keep going up so the goons in office can keep spending as we sit idly by without so much as a protest.

I’m out of likes. Thank you. I think most of us have a family member somewhere at risk.

I read this. Good Lord, somebody made a killing and lined their pockets. I’m a simple citizen and remember the landfill and the dump up there. I know we have a vein of granite out this way. Walmart had to blast when they were building out on the highway and that vein runs right up to where the sheriff is. Just dayum, it’s like Moe, Larry and Curley are running the show. Mo taxes.

That’s so true. We were as one after 09/11. My first grandson was only 5 when it happened. I’ve taught him about it. He remembered it yesterday and for that I’m proud. I spent yesterday going over it with my 9 year old grandson. They need to be taught what happened to innocent people.

I copied this from someone else. It’s so important that your children/grandchildren know. As we remember the horrific events of September 11, 2001, we need to remember something else. We are entering the second generation of Americans with no independent recollection of that day. Those who were children then, are having children now. Neither parent or child has any idea what America was like on September 10th, so knowing the overall significance of September 11th may be harder to grasp. Those of us who were adults then tend to forget how not personally recalling an historical incide

This is not about them or him. It’s in remembrance of those that lost their lives. You really are an asswipe. But I expected nothing more.
