  1. Sorry bout that. I have not had that problem there. But, I do go in the middle of a week day so as to miss most of the crowding that you find at all stores in the late after noon or week ends.
  2. Just made my second trip to AIFM this afternoon. I got the chance this time this go round to walk the store and really check it out. I've got to say that I like it more than before. Not only is it much closer than Nam Dae Mun, but it's a lot cleaner and more open & airy. Any one that likes great prices on meat (rib eyes at 5.99/lb), chicken (10 lb. bag of leg quarters for 3.99, 10 lb. bag of wings - 20.99), and sea food (extra lg white shrimp are 5.99/lb.), needs to try this place. They have a huge selection of local and international veggies, 8 limes for a buck is 4 times better than the
  3. WOOOO! I thought I could leave town for 24 hrs. and this thread would still be kick'n. Of course, I really haven't add my two cents worth to this thread since I started it. The reason that I started this was that I made a comment on the great chilli dog thread that started to morph into a drive - in plug. I thought it best to move ti here hoping to let that one go on it's own. Now I'll tell my story over here. As I grew up, my family's Fri. nights from spring to fall were spent eat'n Varsity dogs at the Malboro drive - in on Austell Rd., Sat. was Yellow Jacket dogs at the Judean on hwy. # 120
  4. You'll love this place if you liked NDM. It is a little more "Americanized" i.e; there is no whole aisle of rice and such. I think they are trying to get folks to make this a "one stop shop" instead of, like a few of us, just make a once a month "meat & seafood" run. There are more American canned and dry goods than NDM, but that could be just the area that they are in. We had the 5.99/lb rib eyes tonight and they couldn't have been better had they cost 15.99/lb. My brother and nephew actually had 4.99 t-bones that my brother picked out for his B-Day dinner. I truelly had trouble grilling
  5. Any one know why Poplar Springs Rd. ( between 278/6 & McLand Rd 360) is blocked close to 360?
  6. Yeah, but not like it used to be. Apartments and condos make more money per square foot. There were 3 close to here back in my day, 4 if you were brave enough to drive down to "Silver Scene". Which I only did once I became a "Rocky Horror W***" ( ie; after 300 shows and had a costume for every roll in the movie).
  7. Low, that's what I'm talk'n about. No better fun as a child or adult, but best if you were in between. The first time you could be your self.
  8. It'll be worth the trip even if they don't have it (IMO).
  9. O.K. , we mat have got'n carried away on drive - ins on BT's dog thread, and for that I'm sorry. It wasn't intentional. So let's keep it going here. For those too young to know what "drive - Ins" are, we're not talk'n ATM's. This is about driving to a wide open, asphalt "field" with a huge scene where you watch movies from far enough away that you can't see or complain about every detail. A long time ago in counties not that far away there were several of these fields where parents would take their children that were TOO young and rambuckous to take to the theater and bother other folks. Those
  10. The one on Bankhead was the Moonlite". My Dad's cabnet shop was almost right across the street, but for some reason we never went there. It was one of my fav. date spots in high school 'cause no one around here knew about it. BTW, I've got every one you mentioned on dvd. I LOVE me some "REEL" movies!
  11. Yeah I was hoping to keep that quiet. There are only so many parking spots. LOL! And where can you still get a 3 topping 12" pizza for $9.00?
  12. To celebrate my new find, I'm about to dig into a single serving "low country boil". just two bowls full. All but the smoked sausage was bought today, and it smells AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet that I've got all of $4.00 in this whole meal fit for any Cajun!
  13. I truly didn't have time to walk the place the way that I would have liked, my brother who runs around like a chicken with his head cut of drove me over there. But, I did see half an aisle full of that sort of thing. I know that this doesn't help you, but you've got a real good chance of it being there. I only make a meat run once a month ( was to NDM now Austell ), but I'll check next time I'm there if you or someone else doesn't beat me to it.
  14. Lady Raider, if I should ever win the lotto, the FIRST thing I do is build a new drive - in! I don't care if makes a dime, I'll just sit there every nite in my '55 drop top and enjoy the show. Nuth'n but '60's - 80's movies. Vanishing Point, Two lane Black Top, Heavy Metal, and Rocky Horror. Had to toss that last one in, the last time I went to a drive - in was the "Silver Screen" for one of many "Rocky" nites. Sorry to semi hi - jack your thread there BT.
  15. Oh, for those that grew up on the "REAL" Varsity, do NOT go into the the one at at TC mall and try to order like you do down town. Those folks will look at you like you just stepped off a dang UFO. Mr Eurbie would roll over in his grave! "What'll ya have, what'll ya have.... move out'a the way!"
  16. .59 per lb. for onion, .25 for 1/10 oz. I guess we know where their profit margin lies.
  17. Go for it CO! As traveled as you seem to be, it'll be a walk in the park / past for you.
  18. I hear thunder s/w of here. Like most times, this mountain that I'm at the foot of will prob. push it some where else.
  19. As far as hours, no clue. If you go down Hurt Rd. and hang a left on Austell Rd., when you see Martins get ready to turn right past it. Like other Int. markets here, they have all the meat and seafood you could need. Vegies are from U.S. and the rest of this rock. Groceries are U.S. plus Asian and South American. Just a few examples that I saw today were leg 1/4s 3.99 / 10 lb. bag, t-bones at 4.99 / lb., large eggs .69 doz., and 20 - 30 ct. shrimp head off for 5.99 / lb. ( head on were 4.99). Nothing as exotic as scorpions on a stick or deep fried monkey. All of their meats are packaged on sit
  20. I grew up with the Varsity at the Malburo drive in on Fri. nites, the Yellow Jacket at the Judean on Sat. And yes, all in my fire truck / footed PJ's. There are NO other chilli dawgs in my world. At least we can still get the dogs. I do miss the drive ins...... and my PJ's. Life was SOOOO much better back then.
  21. Hey guys and gals, one more thing about shopping International markets. Don't let the the things that you can't read scare you! I"m gonna go all "Mom" on you on this one. If you just try 1 new thing every time you go there, you'll be surprised how much more the rest of the world knows than you. LOL! And yeah, my Mom eats corn bread with my stir - fry, but at least she now eats stir - fry.
  22. The best info I can give is to pick a couple of hours and go stroll thro there. Just don't judge them on on the muzak or the smell. In this heat places like this might smell a little "Florida - ish". I have eaten food from open air markets in Asia or S.A. that smell 100 times worse and never had a prob. If you like good prices on fresh goods, then you'll love it.
