Great, new next step in anti-gun control...
willavery replied to GipperGirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That is the most asinine thing I have ever heard. -
These people are sorry excuses for human beings and only have power because of the media like LTD said. They are like toddlers seeking attention and if they are ignored by everyone they will eventually give up. It seems to have become less of a ministry and more of intentionally trying to piss people off. I think they get off on being offensive rather than trying to influence the way people think.

Two of the best around right now. An interesting thing about Iron and Wine is that the singer (Sam Beam) used to sing a lot louder than he does now, but when his child was born, he and his wife lived in a one bedroom apartment and when he would record he would sing in this quiet mellow voice. When he got a record deal he was persuaded to continue to sing in that voice rather than raise the volume again.

I am going to have to agree with Ryan Adams. I have a soundboard copy of the Cardinals last show at the Fox a few years ago. And I also agree with WSP. Having been to many shows and having met my wife because of this band, they will forever hold a place in my heart!

I just wanted to get on here today and tell everyone thank you for taking this journey with me and my family. I wanted to post yesterday, but my wife took the day off of work and we had a great time sitting around as a family for what feels like the first time in 6 months. It has been my pleasure getting to know everyone on Pcom through healthy debate, questions and answers, and I now feel like a member of this community. I put everything I had into this election over the past 6 months and as I reflect upon it, there is nothing that I feel I could or should have done differently. The p

Paulding website attacks family values
willavery replied to lwiavery's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I am sorry I have been slow to answer some of your questions. With just 21 hours until the election, I am understandably busy. JBG, to answer your question, I agree with the idea behind the Global Fund for Education, which, as I understand it, is an organization that seeks to educate people throughout the world on issues ranging from literacy to HIV/AIDS prevention. I frankly do not remember "liking" it on Facebook, as I often get "Like Requests." My wife, as per usual, is correct in saying that my first priority will always be improving Georgia. Frankly, I am as of yet unaware of any b -
I would like to say that neither myself nor anyone on my campaign has stolen a single sign, I have spent my time on the phone and knocking on doors. I personally put many of the new large signs up myself and have not participated in any such behavior. I know how much signs cost a campaign and would not want anyone to do it to me. I actually replaced a sign for Mrs. Braddock yesterday when I noticed that the storms had blown it over at the intersection of Business 6 and 278. However, hundreds of my signs have disappeared as well, and someone sent me this picture this morning:

Thanks for the question, ronk. Unlike my opponent, I believe I have shown my accessibility and openness when it comes to the people of Paulding County. Throughout this campaign, I have been here, on Paulding.com, to answer your questions, I have attended all scheduled forums (and actively worked to participate in more), and answered emails and phone calls. I have met with many of you personally, as well. Paulding County needs someone who has proven that they will be accountable, not only to their supporters, but more importantly to the dissenters. I know not all of you agree with me,

Amendment 1 is absolutely wrong. The part that discusses the no competition aspect is buried in a bill that will go into effect if the amendment passes. Our representatives worded it in a deceitful manner and hid it in legislation that no one knows about hoping that it would pass.

Realistically, no politician can promise to lower taxes. I have grown to hate the so called "fees" that we are all being hit with that allow our representatives to wash their hands clean of raising taxes. I can tell you what one of my priorities would be, and that would be to reinstate the homeowners tax relief grant. Because this got eliminated homeowners are paying approximately the same in property taxes even though property values went down (this portion has nothing to do with the milage rate). I don't want to sit and promise lower taxes, but I will promise that I will not support por

The short answer is yes I intend to stand up to over spending. I will however, fight to make sure that projects such as the horse park and bass pond in the Governor's hometown are not a priority. Money spent on projects such as these are better spent toward keeping teachers employed and toward transportation projects. I plan to use my vote to restore the homeowners tax relief grant that will save almost all homeowners 300 per year by helping keep property taxes low. I do not plan to balance the budget on the shoulders of Paulding's families and businesses and will fight for lower taxes for

My original post in this thread did not say "propose". The widening has been approved for some time now, but it has not been made a priority by our representation.

The point about the Delta credits is that they have over stayed their intended purpose. They were given to a hurting company at a time in which they needed it. Today, they are posting large profits again and the benefits should be gradually removed or scaled back giving the state the ability to offer them to other companies wanting to come here or to pay for capital improvements for roads and education.
-
Delta received that credit at a time in which they needed it because of 9/11. I do not fault that. The problem is that their lobbyists have been able to keep it in place even when Delta is now posting a huge profit. Paulding County needs to attract industry. Why would I not want to give credits to companies coming to Paulding over others. As a representative of Paulding County, my first job is to help the people of this county. Do you disagree that it is the job of the rep from the 19th to look out for his/her own voters first? Sounds logical to me.

I do support widening of 92. The plans are approved and it is already going to be starting in Douglas Counties' portion next year. If we never improved any road in our state, we would be in no place to attract any type of industry or new jobs. Sorry, I didn't respond to your first question. That number come from the Georgia Budget Policy Institute. It actually may be deflated. When Alabama implemented a similar bill a few years ago, they found 5 billion in uncollected sales taxes state wide.
-
You have gotten a few answers. Simply by creating a more efficient means of collecting sales taxes that are currently being stolen from all of us would bring in an estimated 1 billion per year to pay for capital projects such as rail or road projects. Even if we eliminated a portion of Delta's fuel exemption that could easily be over 100 million per year. These are solutions that are viable in the scheme of what Paulding County needs.

Atlanta is not remotely at risk of losing Delta. First of all, H-J Atlanta International is the world's busiest airport, both in terms of flights and passengers. Not a single other airport comes close in America. Delta takes up most of the T, A, B, D, and E gates, and will likely also hold most of the gates in the new international terminal being constructed. According to the article that you posted, Memphis currently has a single new destination, a once-weekly international flight to Mexico City. Memphis does not have the capability to house the home of Delta Airlines, plain and simpl

The new hospital will have initially over 200 beds and another medical office building is being built to the same specs as the one that is there right now. The master plan for Bill Curruth Pkwy is to use it as a medical corridor for medical offices. As far as incentives go, we must work to lower Paulding Counties' industrial development tier level. This is a complicated piece of legislation, but it unfairly punishes Paulding County in giving tax benefits to industries coming here based upon our population. We need to allow amendments to the law that will increase tax benefits for compan

They do have a nursing program, but it is only offered at the South Cobb/Austell campus. With the new hospital opening here, there will be an increased demand right here in our own community and it is the perfect opportunity to create a college to job "pipeline" for our residents.
