  1. WalMart in Hiram had a bunch when I was there at 830 tonight.
  2. <snip> 8:09 p.m. Damages to the roads, bridges and culverts in Paulding County will likely cost $12 million to repair, according to early estimates. County buildings and parks sustained another $1 million worth of damages, according to Pat Tibbitts, executive assistant to the county's board of commissioners. Water damage to the county's schools is estimated at around $500,000. Five damage crews surveyed the damage Tuesday to compile the estimates. The damage estimates, once finalized, will be sent to GEMA officials, according to Michael Jones, county administrator. </snip>
  3. Haven't heard anything about schools......I hope so.
  4. But then how would people know the REAL reason they have to boil their water? Do you think the "higher ups" are going to let it slip about the UFO's at Home Depot? I don't think so. If it weren't for pcom, this valuable piece of information would go unknown.
  5. Yesterday it was updated within the hour of me getting a call. Patience young grasshopper
  6. I remember having those 3 gas days after Katrina and having to document working a certain number of extra hours to make up for the lost time....I'm wondering if we aren't going to have to do the same.
  7. With bad water in the county it makes you wonder.... But dang....I'm scheduled off Thursday for dr's appts.....will I get to work this week?!
  8. I'll be stimulating the economy by hiring someone to clean and fix my gutters.....one of them didn't survive the heavyness of the rain.
  9. There's a lot of Douglas county on I-20. Did they give a specific section?
  10. I hope my satallite doesn't go out! I have it set to record. At least I have new tv while stuck at home!!
  11. Me too. I have some toys, toddler clothes, and women's 8-ish clothes boxed up that I was going to take to goodwill whenever it dried up enough to load the back of the truck.
  12. 100% rain tomorrow, 50% Wed, 30% Thurs/Fri/Sat. First clear day SUNDAY.....then 30% Monday. 46 just said Paulding closed Tuesday.
  13. I saw plenty of coverage on the news starting at 5:30 when I got my FIRST "schools cancelled" phone call.
  14. Present! I wanted to take awesome pics of my flooding when it got daylight (1/2 driveway and 3/4 up mailbox)....stopped raining for 2 hours and the damn thing drained off like it was supposed to
  15. That's ignorant. Paulding does NOT wait for Cobb. It's just a coincedence that Cobb makes the calls first. When the weather is icy, Cobb is usually further north and more affected. Our super wouldn't have schools open if it was dangerous. Ding! Usually the preschools follow whatever the county is doing. Mine won't be going to pre-k today
  16. When I was a teen I probably wouldn't have had the driving experience to know not to try to cross a road with water on it. I doesn't always look as deep as it is. Yes, the people who went around a road sign are stupid. They don't just put those things out because they have extras
  17. wow....most of these are in the school district where I work.
  18. The "Cobb" comments stem from a previous administration. The joke is always "if Cobb cancels, so will we" when the reality is that we deal with a lot of the same weather as Cobb, so it seems that way. I hope they consider the danger of flooded roads and early morning bus stops. I hadn't thought about it til this thread, but it makes sense. I'm just glad I got my foundation/crawlspace repaired earlier this summer. My sump pump (and backup pump) is working overtime!!
  19. When I was in Singapore this summer I was amazed that you could pay bills at ATM machines. You typed in the account # and it credited that account from yours. You also got stamps, phone cards, etc at the ATM.
  20. aww crap....I said I wasn't going to watch that preview and I did....and it got me all teary eyed. I hope Little Grey is right....George was my favorite!
  21. The previews showed a funeral and it showed Izzy alive....so I'm confused as crap because I spent all summer thinking she was off the show.
  22. Based on the looks on my students faces after reading the comments I wrote on their progress reports, it's going to be a loooooooong night!
