Attended a court hearing for a family member today
workingforaliving replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As someone who was raised in a black community and then moved to a white community, this thread amuses the crap out of me. People, no matter where you go, are trucked up. When I went to a hearing in Carrollton, there were PLENTY of stereotypes. A hearing in Decatur? Probably PLENTY of stereotypes there too. Who the hell cares? Knock the chip off of your shoulder (everyone) and think about what happens when those women with the super long nails has a itch in her nose. -
Paulding gets snubbed by 'Get Low"

Oh no. Let's boycott! -
Interesting accomedation. I have inherited IEPs with accommedations that make me go "wtf?"... What age/grade is your child? It's exhausting to fight for your child, but you have to do what you have to do. When I have "difficult" parents I have to ask myself "If I was in the same situation, what would I do?" and more often than not my view of the situtation changes. Keep trying and trying and trying. There are many people on pcom who have children with Autism or children with IEPs. I wish Paulding had more support for parents.

I would definately make sure to watch THAT show! :creepy:

The number of students with Aspergers in my classes this year and last year is more than the prior 5 years combined. Many educators simply don't have the experience or training with any aspect of ASD. I have a very involved parent this year who tells me everything to expect and how to handle it, based on their experience in schools. This is extremely helpful. On the other hand, I could barely get a different parent on the phone last year. It was like I was left to figure it out. And I believe there is only ONE Autism specialist in the system...and that may not be his "official" title.

Aspergers is pretty broad and the "help" really depends on the child.

I have a big dent in my bumper on the corner (and I've seen many toyotas with the same style dent) because I backed into something...I refuse to get it fixed because as soon as I do, I'll get rear-ended and I would have wasted my money since insurance would be buying the next bumper. I tell people that the dent is a part of my safety plan! As long as it's there, no one will ever rear-end me!

Is Drew unconcerned about the right to trial?

I have 3 college degrees----2 of which I earned as a single mother. I've been "interviewing" schools in order to decide where I want to start my doctoral studies. I am VERY educated, though I am often a poor speller and maybe a little off the cuff with my remarks. "Baby-daddy" is a very nice term for how I feel about the man. I also believe that "classy" would have been a better word to use rather than "educated." I've never claimed class. -
I've been using SSH for a while and I LOVE IT! Visit each place and see how you feel about them. I made my decision, in part, based on how I felt when I walked into the building. In some of the places you mentioned, I didn't feel right from the moment I stepped in them....of course, they could be good places, but I need to *FEEL* it

No, federal buildings and Alaska building should though.

Is Drew unconcerned about the right to trial?
workingforaliving replied to Cabe's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I didn't know until I was served that baby-daddy wanted any sort of custody. I was completely blindsided and it was my first time hiring an attorney. I didn't know that lawyers had specialties. A lawyer is a lawyer, right? If he wasn't familiar with family law, he should have said so. "Attorney at Law" doesn't tell me much about a lawyer. Of course, now I'm well educated. -
I saw on Alaska State Troopers (on NatGeo if you ever want to watch it) that plane crashes are the #1 cause of death in Alaska.

I don't think there was a red-head on our team.

I may have the temper of a red-head and am often treated like a step-child, but I'm not a ginger....wrong Nutty!

Do you live within 1/2 mile of the school? If so, then lefty and righty can get you there....otherwise call and talk to someone else at the bus barn.

I could count on one hand the number of people I dislike in this world I appreciate that you can be involved in a discussion and not get your feelings hurt when people have a different opinion. At the end of the day, who you vote for is a personal decision....but it's necessary to be informed about WHO you are voting for. -

Did you find out in August that he didn't file paperwork that was due in March? Did he belittle and humiliate you as you were leaving the courthouse? Did he then threaten you when you dared to tell others about his gross mishandling of a client/case? Because he did all these things...and more...to me.
