  1. I think I am gonna be sick!!! We ate at Sapporo's on Friday, same day as inspection 42 YIKES.

and the one time I don't search out the score...

That's not half as bad as eating there a couple of weeks ago - then calling in sick to work the next day from being up all night sick. I chalked it up to a stomach virus, but I'm having to rethink that now.

  2. Wandering animals is one thing that I absolutely can not stand. If you're going to have pets, then take the initiative to keep them safe...

Our neighbor used to have a dog that ran loose all the time, and every once in a while when walking through the yard I would step in a pile of dog poo. :bad:

Granted, I have animals myself, but my yard is fenced in - refused to have any animals until we got our fence up when we moved in. I also have cats, but they are fixed and stay indoors. I can't stand outdoor cats because they think they have the right to pile up on top of my car - and then I start seeing scratches from their claws. Not cool.

  3. My lab is having her puppies right now and I am so excited! :yahoo: So far we have 1 yellow female.

Update: 12:20pm we are at eight right now 4 yellow/4 black

Update: 5:24pm we have 11 puppies 4 yellow/7 black she had 13 total but the last 2 were still born -_- hopefully she is done

They are adorable!!! Are they full-blooded labs? (just curious)

My dad has two other chocolate labs and was considering a third. Are any of the yellow ones male?

  4. Hubby has had the epirdals, and been to a chiro. physical theraphy, he has done it all... he has 2 disc that are hernaited, and one is sitting on a nerve, causing him to have satcia nerve. it has been this way for over a year, he is now gonna have surgery where they shave the disc, it is done as out patinet, but he will stay one night in the hoisptal,

The surgery they are doing is called DIsc Microsurgery, this is his last resort nothing else has helped.. He hates the idea of doing this, but there is nothing else he can try, and it is geeting worse.

being in back pain is horrible, I hope you can find some relief for your back probelms, the percedure they are wanting to do on you I have never heard of...

Your doctor will know what is best after you talk to him about it...

Did he refer you to this speacilist?

That is the same procedure that I had done last month. I tell you, it was like instant relief. I was only out of work for a week, but was up walking around like normal the next day.

I saw Dr. Chebuhar at Pinnacle Orthopedics, and he is an excellent surgeon / doctor. I hope that it will give your husband as much relief as it has given me. (Please keep in mind that before the surgery, I couldn't stand up straight, and some days couldn't even get out of bed - and now I'm up and about and able to stand up completely straight again - something that I had taken for granted.)

  5. Our prayers go out to those traveling up there to help as well.

My father and grandparents are about 35 southwest of Louisville - have no electricity and no heat, and are barely able to get out on cell phones. Luckily, they were able to call this morning, though, to let us know that they are okay.

Prayers to those heading up there to help, and those that are stuck in the nasty weather that they are having - several inches of ice, and heavy snow still falling.

  6. I've watched every season, but last night's show was actually kind of boring to me. If next week's show isn't a little better, I can see me not trying to stay up so late on Tuesday nights.

  7. no silly head... I am not better than anyone...I assure you of that. I thought it was a rant it said it was a rant and I didn't see your post about you trying to be funny. When I saw that I did another post...lighten up people

I have never been mean to anyone on the board and don't ever plan on it..... but if you make a post like that sometimes people will say stuff you don't want to hear. geeezzzzz

Did you even see my other post shortyly after my 1st one

btw...I tell people to give me gift cards... I  them!!!! They are always the perfect color, size &fit :p :D

however someone did give me a home depot gift card... I laughed about it and will put it away until I need something home fixed or something idk :D

Or you could always use it at the fuel pump in Acworth. They have one of those cards that you scan now to save money like at Kroger. :o)

  9. We had such a blast at the parade. The only complaint that we had this year was not being able to get back to the staging areas in a reasonable amount of time. I think as the parade gets bigger, and has more entries, that they'll figure something out as far as getting back to the staging areas.

Other than that - we had such a terrific time. We had several teddy bears that we threw out of the van throughout the parade to some of the smaller children that didn't seem to be getting any candy. Next year, we're going to have a gigantic bag of toysbe to give out to the little ones along the route.

We can't wait!!! I hope to be able to post some pictures here tomorrow to share with everyone.

Hope you all had a terrific weekend!

  10. My youngest son got his DS three years ago at Christmas, when he was only four years old. He has had it that long, and loves it. It will be some of the best money you've ever spent. My older one got his DS the same year, but he is 11, and I wanted to give you a comparison for the age.

As far as games go, my boys like a little bit of everything. While a lot of the newer games are around $30, there are some older games at Target and Wal-Mart that you can buy for about $15 each. You can also buy used games at Blockbuster, or buy them in bundles on ebay.

  11. Herniated one, and ruputured another one.

    Back in the mid 1990s.

My orthopaedic [now retired] sent me to the Pain Center at Northside for the epidurals with a corisone drip. Warned me it only works in about half the patients, and only a forth of so of them get permanent relief, but I tried it anyway.

1st one seemed to do nothing but it did not hurt at all having it done. 2nd one hurt a little, but not near as bad as I was hurting anyway [i had lost most of the feeling in my right leg and could not drive as a result], and again it did not seem to do much.

3rd one hurt like hell, and I fussed and the technician, who explained it just seemed to hurt more getting the needle inserted as I was doing better, and the next morning I started getting feeling back in my leg.

4th one hurt worse than the 3rd one, but in 24 hours I got all the feeling back in my leg. I beleive 4 was all they would allow you back then, about 10 days apart. I have not had any trouble with the disks since then. My L4, L5, and L6 [i think] are all basically fused now. 2 of them were from the 1970s.

Note that I have taken high doses [800 to 3200mg per day] of Ibuprofen since 1974 when it was first released as an anti-inflamatory in the US. The orthopaedics [i have buried 2 and retired the last one I went to] say I am fortunate the Ibuprofen does not irritate my gut but that it also has caused my joints to drastically improve over the years since I first started taking it. Yes, I get my liver levels checked twice a year because I take such high doses and it has never been a problem other than remembering to get the blood work done now that Ibuprofen is available over the counter.

    Good luck.

If you do go to a back cracker, you need to let your orthopaedic know as their treatment plans can conflict with each other.

I think my doctor said that I would be allowed to get 3 shots - 2 weeks apart. This is the third, and if it doesn't work, I don't know how long he will want to wait to decide on what to do next. Hopefully fairly quickly.

I am not completely sold on going to a chiropractor, but promised my husband that I'd give it some thought. I want to discuss it with my doctor first, but the hubby says that he'll just tell me absolutely not. I refuse to go without discussing the possibilities of what could happen as a result of it first.

I've lived with a herniated disk for about 15 years. I've not had surgery and used to see a Chiro, in my experience, it made it worse. I'm terrified of surgery so I have managed my pain with medications (anti-inflamatories) and have done physical therapy to learn how to carry my back properly, roll over properly, lift, etc...

Do your research with your doctors and do what's best for you. Good luck!

Thank you for your comment. I have had physical therapy a couple of years ago when my doctor diagnosed me with the degenerative disc disease. I went at that for several months, and then started doing the exercises at home.

I will certainly do my research, but it is very hard getting used to the pain right now.

  12. My husband had L4 & L5 herniated. He used Pinnacle's Dr. Craig Chebuhar, too. He had 3 epidural's with the first being successful, the second didn't help much and the third made no difference at all!!! Dr. Chebuhar did surgery at Cherokee Northside (I think that was the name of it) in Canton. The hospital and staff were AMAZING!!!! My husband had very little relief from the surgery and then the pain got worse. 6 months after the initial surgery he had to have another one as his body was rejecting the metal that was placed in his spine. The metal had to be removed after the discs were fused. That was in 2001 & 2002 and he continues to have pain to this day. He was not able to use a chiropractor due to his injury being workers comp.

One thing I learned through this process is when your back hurts, you hurt all over!! Every part of your body is connected to your back.

    Good Luck!

I've heard as far as back surgeries are concerned, either it works great for you and you feel 100% better, or it doesn't work and it makes it worse, or at the very least, just continues to hurt as it did before.

Actually, the surgery is usually done as outpatient. They kept him 24 hours because of blood pressure issues.

He had the surgery on Monday, Nov 3rd. He was out and about all day yesterday...we took the kids to Fernbank. Aside from the incision pain, he has no problems. I would say a weeks rest for sure, but they had him up and moving with 12 hours of the surgery.

BTW, he said the incision pain was NOTHING compared to the leg pain (his discs were pushing on the sciatic nerve, so his pain was in his leg). His leg pain was so bad that he wanted to cut it off....and this from a really tough guy who has been known to sew up his cuts with a needle and thread!! lol

That almost just makes me wish that they would skip the 3rd epidural and do the surgery so that I might be in good enough shape to go shopping on Black Friday. I've never been, then the first year that my husband and I decide that we're going to get up and go, all of this comes along.

I'm right there with him on the leg pain. It almost feels like my hip is coming out of the socket on my left side it hurts so bad. The pain goes all the way down my left leg into my ankle, then the toes feel numb.

  13. My husband just had that surgery last week. When he came out of recovery, the very first thing he said was "I should have done this months ago". He has NO pain (besides the incision pain) and is FINALLY able to walk/sit/sleep for more than 10 minutes!! This was going on since June.....we tried EVERYTHING before resorting to the surgery. I highly recommend it!!

    Good luck to you!

My pain started back in June, too, but got the worst towards the middle of October. It just seems to keep getting worse right now. I'm still hoping not to have surgery done right now, but if I do, I certainly hope that I can talk the doctor into squeezing it in before the end of 2009. I know that sounds bad, but I have a $1,000.00 deductible on my insurance, I've already met that for the year with all that's been going on lately.

    Thanks for your comment!

  14. Ihave two herniated discs in my low back L4/L5. I have dealt with the pain for over 10 years. I should have had surgery, but the pain just comes and goes now and I am a big baby. The Chiropractor REALLY helped me get back on my feet. I was on my back and could not walk for almost 6 months.

Do NOT let yourself get depressed. It will get better!

I try to keep myself from getting too depressed. It's really hard to do when you want to get up and go somewhere on the weekend and you can't. With two small children, it makes it really difficult, too. My oldest one is turning 11 this weekend and wants to go to the movies, but I had to tell him we could only go if the shot on Friday makes me feel any better. I may just have to suffer through the theater seats for him. It will only be a couple of hours.

  15. A chiro can not help you. You'll likely need surgery. I can recommend a great neurosurgeon that I've been seeing:

    http://www.craniospinal.net/

    I see Dr. Chitale.

    Have you had an MRI?

Yes, I had an MRI at the end of October with Pinnacle's Dr. Craig Chebuhar. He couldn't start the epidurals on the week that I was available, so he referred me out to Georgia Pain Management, Dr. Ellner. They have been wonderful - it just doesn't seem to working out for me.

I will certainly kep Dr. Chitale in mind. Where is he located out of?

  16. My sister has fought with herniated disk for a few years now! (I'm sorry for you pain too!) She has had the epidural shots, pain meds. etc. and nothing had really changed, BUT when she started going to see Dr. Morris in powder springs.........things started looking up for her! She still has some pain but NOTHING like before. Give it a try. I so recommend the chiropractor! They work wonders!!!! Get well soon and *BIG HUGS* feel better!!!! :D

Thank you for your comment .... and the *BIG HUGS* - I certainly feel like I've needed it lately. I haven't been able to get out and do anything lately, and I am usually very involved in scouts, so this has really been a downer for me.

I just want to get to feeling better before I have to go Christmas shopping. I don't want to do all of my shopping online. That takes the fun out of it.

I herniated a disc a C5, C6 and had a discectomy(spelling???) after fighting it for a year. THANK GOODNESS!!! Had this done in 98 and no longer have any problems what so ever. But I guess it really depends too on where the herniation is - low back would be a Bit**. Thats where I'm heading too but hopefully I can hold out for a few more years.

Best of luck to you, been there done that and it's not fun.

I can't remember right off which disks they are, but they are at the very bottom. My doctor told me when got my last shot on the 7th that if this last shot didn't help out, we may end up having to discuss surgery.

I'm 31 years old, though, and never thought that I would be here at this point in my life. I'm hoping that the third time will be a charm and we can skip the surgery for now.

    I have two, Bruce

I'm so sorry to hear that for you. :(

Dr. Morris is wonderful and was my first chiropractor. I have since moved to his former co-practicer, Dr. Vaughn. He is absolutely wonderful. I can say with the utmost confidence in him. Please go see him. If you have your MRI's or x-rays, take them with you so that he can see them. He is such a wonderful person. My hubby finally went after dealing with his neck for months and, after an x-ray and evaluation, Dr. Vaughn found the source of his problem, adjusted his neck, and then sent him home with exercises to do. Hubby is feeling much better.

Please give him a call. He's a good honest man that practices his craft with honor and crediability.

Where are each of them located - and which one did you guys prefer?

I started seeing a chiro - Dr. Chris Lockerman (would highly recommend him) when shortly after they though I had a ruptured disk, turned out to be degenerative disc disease. I was still in terrible pain. I decided to continue w/ the chiro instead of going the epidural injection route. He has really helped me.

I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in April 2006, but haven't really had any problems with my back again until just the last couple of months. I went from just a nagging ache, to barely being able to get out of bed in the mornings. At his point, I can't take enough pain meds to dull the pain, and I can't get comfortable sitting, standing or lying down. I have just been absolutely miserable.

My husband had one in his lower back a few years ago. He also had some numbness in his right leg and foot. After SEVERAL epidurals that helped temporarily he decided to have the surgery to shave the herniated portion off. Best thing that he has ever done!!!

Mine is in the left side, and I have some numbness down my leg, but mainly my two smallest toes. Once I get up and moving around in the mornings, my toes pretty well go numb. This has been the most miserable experience of my life. I'm hoping this third shot helps out. If not, I think I will feel that I've racked up all these doctor bills for nothing.

We'll visit the surgery option if absolutely necessary, but I'm hoping to keep from having to do that.

  17. I've been being treating for almost 6 weeks now for a herniated disk. I've had two epidural shots so far, and have a third one scheduled for this coming Friday.

The pain has been excruciating, and so far the shots have done absolutely nothing.

My husband is begging me to go to a chiropractor to see if they can help, but I'm worried about trying that thinking that more harm may be done than good since I can barely walk now.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated if you have been through this yourself.

    Thanks.

    Christi
