  1. That is so cool!!! I love the colors! I have got to get you my recliner soon!

Thank you! He was trying to do something other than the regular plain black vinyl. We are going to deliver it tonight after Scouts - so I can't wait to see if they like it!!!

We do pick ups, too, whenever you're ready. Wasn't it just a repair on your recliner?

    Great work! :clapping:

Thank you. The hubby is quite happy with it. He's been wanting to cover something in that lime green for a while now. He covered another chair in a grey look-alike ostrich skin vinyl. It was pretty cool, too, but he forgot to take a picture for me.

  2. :o Oh No! Weekend nights are the "kiss of death" for shows. Especially new ones. I used to love love love Las Vegas, but when they moved it to Friday I never saw it again. Now I hear they cancelled Las Vegas.

I hope Harper's Island stays on at least long enough to find out who the slasher is.

I hate it when they cancel on ya before you find out the scoop.

They did that with a show called Savannah and with Models Inc.

    dadgummit! <_<

I used to love Savannah. There was another show about lawyers, too, that showed at the end if they were actually guilty or innocent of what they were accused - can't remember the name of it, but there were only a couple of episodes.

  3. I have watched all the episodes - have them set to record in case I fall asleep before, or during, the show.

Personally, I think the Sheriff is the one doing it. Don't know why - just do. Thinking about it just gets me eager for the end of the season to hurry up - but after you find out who the killer is, how will there be a second season?

  4. My hubby always gets a Barbie toy, or other girlie toy, and asks them if it's the one they're looking for. He's also been known to pull the youngest down the girlie aisle in the toy section - usually kicking and screaming.

When we're shopping for clothes, he always goes and gets something out of the girlie section and tells them, very loudly, how cute they're going to look in it.

Sometimes, just for the fun of it, he starts waving the air in Wal-Mart, hollering, "Dang boy, was that you???"

When the boys start to pitch fits, he calls them by their girlie equal name. I won't share those.

..... Oh, and don't EVER call my youngest by his nickname in front of his friends at Scouts. He threatened to NEVER go back again because everybody wrote it down and they're never going to forget it. I'm trying to stop calling him by that name. :D

  5. We took food donations up for Helping Hands last month for scouts - turned in 324 pounds of food.

I would give part to Helping Hands, definitely, because the need for help right is so great.

I would also give part to the local animal shelter. I would love to be able to take in more animals of my own, but we already have six, so we have to draw the line somewhere.

In addition, I would also make a donation to our Pack to help cover a couple of scouts' summer camp, because with times as hard as they are, I know that there are a few families struggling.

  6. I've been in your shoes before. When we've had to pay - I always pay on April 15th. I don't like waiting this late to do our taxes. One year, we were fired by our accountant on April 13th over a disagreement over deductions for scouting. That's when heaven was recommended to us and we started using Tina Drummond. I try every year to get to her earlier - but alas, I was there on March 30 this year. Maybe next year will go better.

Deductions for scouting.... I was looking at stuff for that this year, but wasn't sure how to file that kind of stuff, so we just skipped it for this year. Maybe next year.

  7. At this point, I would say the dog has found his true, "forever family". I doubt he will ever stay at his other home now. Why would he? I sure would not if I were him.

    Off Topic:

With as many animal lovers we have on here, we should start a barter program where we trade off taking care of each other's pets when needed.

My kids have named him Buddy. They are begging us to keep him. We even went by his "home" again last night, and still no sign of anybody having been home. The garbage cans had been knocked over by all the wind yesterday, so at least I will know if they've been home at all when we go by there again tonight.

The barter things sounds great, too. My dogs are just a little snippy with strangers - mostly our chihuahua. On top of her, we have a chocolate lab and a Belgian malinois. He's just a big ole teddy bear lately.

Just a side thought for you .... you might want to contact one of the pet sitters on here (Wendy or pnkpetsitting) to come to your house instead of a relative/friend or even boarding. Might be cheaper than boarding and definitely more dependable than what you found ^^ (as posted).

Good luck with the new one!

I've considered that, but my chihuahua is the one I'm mostly concerned with - she even got stars by her name at the vet's office when we boarded her for being such a pain in the butt.

My biggest dog, Ruger (Belgian malinois), might be a pain to get out of his crate with someone that he doesn't know. We may test the idea the next time we get ready to go out of town. We're supposed to be going to Kentucky for Mother's Day.

  8. been there....gotten attached too....then they just kept letting this one run loose anyways cause they "presumed" we would take him in or care of him till they could get back home or whatever. (had teens that would let him out coming and going and not bother to even call for him) We have always had really good luck with local young folks looking after our pets (all tons of them) and plants and checking on things in general and never had to board anything before. Consider that next vacation? You could post on here that you need a young responsible person preferably with a car (that helps with the responsibility issue and also doesnt put the parent out having to take them back and forth) to tend to your critters and all when you go and see who turns up....never know. Dont be overly stern with them but dang sure let them know that if they cant tend to the doggy then you will either keep him or find someone who will for them and see if that helps straighten them up. Good luck...love my fuzzy and feathered and gilled buddies but dont like the problems that come up with them..ha.

We used to have family come and let the dogs out until we came back one time and the dogs looked like they hadn't been fed in days. That is what made us start boarding them every time we go anywhere. If I can't trust a family member, I'd rather them be somewhere that I know they're going to be fed and taken out to the bathroom than to wonder while I'm out of town. My dogs also love being boarded - they strut like they're royalty, and they always get a nice bath on the day they come home to make them feel good.

The dog is still at our house - we kept him in out of the rain last night - and I think he was thankful for that. I can't stand the thought of putting that little guy back out on the streets.

  9. *Would* you keep him if the neighbors gave him up? Because if they're not attached to him themselves, they might let you have him if you ask.

And of course, they're violating the leash law by letting him wander, so you could always call Animal Control.

I agree that they are breaking the leash law by letting him wander. We didn't get our first dog until we had a fenced in yard. We live too close to the main road to take the chance of having a roving pet.

We can't really afford another dog - we already have three - but if it came down to him having a good home, we certainly would consider it. The only time we regret having dogs is when it comes vacation time, and we have to pay to board our dogs. My boys are quickly becoming attached to him, but our cats don't like him at all.

I guess he'll stay here tonight, then we'll figure out what to do tomorrow if his owners don't come home. The neighbors said that they are usually there for a couple of days, then gone a couple of days.... and the dog is always wandering. Personally, I feel like he deserves much better. He has just been eating up the attention he's been getting here from our boys.

  10. So, yesterday this stray dog - who is absolutely adorable I might add - wonders into our yard. We've seen him before, and know that he lives in our neighborhood. We go to find his home, only to find that his owners are not at home right now, and that they let him run loose all the time (this coming from two different neighbors).

This dog has taken up residence at our house, to the point of finding a way to get under our fence and into the back yard with our other three dogs. I don't know what to do at this point. We went to see if they were back home again just a little bit ago. The thing is, we're figuring that if this puppy goes home and they usually let him run loose anyways, that he'll be back in our backyard again as soon as they let him out.

He is the cutest, sweetest dog. He's great with our boys, and has been playing in the backyard with our other dogs. Our boys are begging to keep him, but I keep trying to explain to them that when his family gets home that he has to go back to them. Their reply, "Why, they just let him roam around. He's going to end up getting ran over."

What else am I supposed to do? I can't keep letting him stay her - the kids are going to get too attached.

Just look at how cute he is!!! And you can get a good idea of his size by looking at him beside my chihuahua.

  11. Do you also do the furniture refinishing or do you send it out? I have a pine table and six chairs that need to be stripped and restained/varnished. Would you be interested?

We actually don't do the refinishing work in the shop (not nearly enough room, and certainly not all the right equipment). We send it out, but the guy that we use is local (off of Cedarcrest). I would be happy to get his name from my husband. We didn't do any mark up on the dining chairs since she was having us cover them when they were finished. If there is nothing to cover, dealing directly with him would save you the mark up that we would have to do. We just try to keep it honest, and save our customer money whenever we are able.

Just let me know if you'd like his number. He did a TERRIFIC job on the chairs.

    These are amazing!

One of these days I'm going to be able to have my Grandmothers chairs covered.

    What type of chairs?

    Beautiful work.

    Thank you very much.

    Purple suede rocks! Great job.

I absolutely LOVE the purple suede. When we delivered it to her house, I told her that I tried to talk the husband in to not taking them home. She just laughed.

This set belonged to her grandmother, and she was so happy that they turned out so well.

  12. Here are some photos of some tufted dining room chairs that we delivered a couple of weeks ago. They were completely stripped and refinished prior to covering - and now have a beautiful purple suede. Gorgeous.
