  1. The storm woke me up last night, too. Sounded like my skylights were fixing to bust from the hail hitting them.

Didn't have the guts to look too closely at my car this morning, so I guess I'll take a look at it when I get home today.

  2. That picture brings back sooooo many memories. We did a Cub Family Camp at Paulding Meadows a loooonnnnngggggg time ago. It rained so hard the creek was coming out of it's banks. The water in the pavilion pic you posted was up to the tops of the picnic tables...............Got home at 1:00AM with several wet boys, sleeping bags and tents. Never got out of there so fast!!

You are right about them only being young once. My son is now 22, missed Eagle by not filling out the paperwork (he wouldn't do it). He so regrets it already. But regardless he stayed in til he was 18 and is a very honest young man with Scouting values and principles ingrained in him.

I know you are very proud of the young men they are.

I hope they reschedule too but it looks like the calendar is playing against us. Too much going on. Every weekend between now and the first week of Summer Camp looks booked. :(

That is certainly where they were, but the boys didn't do too much complaining. When I got there to pick mine up the next morning, he had been playing in the creek. They all had so much fun.

My son just joined the Troop, but has been in since Tigers. He loves Scouts, and we love the person that it is making him. My youngest is a Wolf - going to be a Bear next month. You'd certainly be surprised how many compliments from other adults about how kind and well-mannered they are.

I kinda figured that the calendar might play against re-scheduling. There is always a lot of stuff going on, but we can always hope. Guess he'll just have to wait until Fall to get to be part of a camporee. They're camping next month, though - just the Troop - so I'm sure he'll have loads of fun there, too.

  3. A little rain usually doesn't stop a huge event like this but they are predicting severe weather, with buckets and buckets of rain. I am a little disappointed too, first time in 15 years that I've been working with Scouts we've had to cancel. It rained hard last year (same weekend) but no storms. We were wet and muddy but had a great time. :)

It took the powers that be a lot of thought to make the decision to cancel this, hopefully nobody went out and bought all their food yet. They are still trying to do the OA tap-out on Saturday night so if the storms move out, guess where I'll be. :)

Oh and Freebird, thanks for being so kind on the years. As a matter of fact this would be my 100th birthday, just check my profile.

I know - our Scout Master was completely taken aback when he found out that it was canceled. I really hope that they'll reschedule it, but not on a weekend that clashes with my Cubs camping. Now that we've got one in each, our schedules go back and forth with the two of them.

They certainly keep us busy, but they're turning into such terrific young men - and they're only this age once. They'll keep these memories forever. - Just like the oldest one's first Boy Scout camping trip when he crossed over in the pouring down rain.

  4. My husband and oldest son were supposed to be camping up there this weekend, too. We've been getting stuff together all week long... and then it got cancelled.

Hubby wasn't looking too forward to camping in the rain, but now is very disappointed that it got cancelled.

    Happy Birthday anyways.

  5. I just wanted to tell everyone thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes. As my cousin stated it was Prissy and we are overjoyed to have her back. I picked her up this afternoon and she was just so excited to be back with us. I took her back home to my mom and she along with our other poodle Scarlett (12 years old) have not stopped loving on her. I spoke with mom a little earlier and she told me that Scarlett will not let her ou of her site. Those two are as thick as thieves and while Prissy was gone you could tell that Scarlett was heartbroken. Well thanks to your prayers we have both of our babies back. Prissy has been apart of our family for half my life and I know there will come a day when we have to say goodbye but on behalf of my whole family we are so thankful that today is not that day. Again I cannot thank everyone enough!!!!! :D

I am so happy that Prissy made it home - and that I found the post about her and was able to play a part in getting her back home safely.

I have three dogs myself, and would absolutely freak out if one of them were missing.

  6. thank you so much for your response. It does seem to be her but I dont think my cousin has picked her up yet. I think they were supposed to meet very soon. From what I hear I think it is her

I am so glad that I could help. From what my friend said, she's pretty sure that it's her, too.

  7. I just called a friend of mine that had a poodle wander up to their house the other day. I gave here the numbers listed above, because they live off of Frey / Ivey Gulledge. They had taken her to the vet the other day, and they told them that the dog would be about 12 years old....

Your friend should be expecting a call soon. I certainly hope this is the right dog, but from the way she had described her to me, it sounds like they may have Prissy.

  8. We use a company that we refused to sign up with if they made us sign a contract to keep the machine for XX amount of months. We pay a small fee for each transaction, with a maximum amount per month.

I have to find the paperwork to find out what the name of the company is, and then I can send it to you.

Don't accept American Express - they charge a higher percentage than the rest of the cards, and take longer to get the money credited to your bank.

Would you like me to send you the information?

  9. We're going to a Boy Scout cross over ceremony tomorrow evening for my oldest - and he'll be camping for his very first time without a parent present (parents, even if they are leaders, were not allowed to camp).

Other than that, nothing major planned - maybe some more house cleaning.

  10. Please ! My husband has a backrest we want a design on.

    Thanks

Dixie Sporting Goods on South Main Street in Acworth. It is right across the street from our shop before you get to the old Day's Chevrolet building.

We used them to do some embroidering for us on our Cub Scout hats. They have done a good job on everything that they've done for us, and had a pretty good turn around time.

  11. I know where I work (hubby runs the upholstery shop) that we lay off the sealcoating crew during the winter. The foreman collects the full amount per week, and the guys that make less (around $8-9/hr) don't get to draw the full amount.

However, it also comes in to play how much you've made the last ??? quarters (can't remember how the quarters work), but if you've been working steady for at least the last year and a half, you'll probably draw the full amount per week.

If you were making around 40... then I'd say that you'll probably draw the full amount. I also saw something on the news last night about the amount being bumped up $25 / week because of the federal stimulus plan.

  12. The stitching is separating on my husband's Corbin seat... How much would you charge to repair it?

That would depend on how much of a repair it is. Usually restitching isn't a big deal. If you have a picture of it, you can email it to me.

    Does it have top stitching?

  13. I would be happy to throw some business cards in the mail....we can pick up some of yours as well for referrals. Thank you very much.

    Karen Price

    oswoodworks@bellsouth.net

You can mail them to 4561 S. Main Street - Acworth, GA 30101

We will be sure to send some your way, too. Thanks!

Looks Great! You all do excellent work

    Thank you very much.

  14. Can you embrodiery a design on one ?

We don't have an embroidery machine, but we have a business that we use for that type of customizing. We rarely have anyone request embroidering, so we haven't seen the need to purchase the equipment. I can get you the name and number of the shop we use if you'd like.

  15. My husband is a carpenter and builds / refinishes / repairs furniture. If you ever have a need for that type of service, please call John Price with Old School Woodworks. 404-509-5150. Your work on the chair is beautiful!

    :)

I will definitely put his number in our files. We usually are able to fix most stuff that comes in, but there are certainly times that we have had to send the work out.

If you have a business card, you could mail us one, or send it via email.

  16. Tonight - Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party at 7:00, and go to have my ring looked at and cleaned to renew the insurance on it for this year.

Tomorrow - Taking the boys and hubby to get new boots for scouting trips this year. Afterwards, we're planning on taking the boat to the lake and trying to do a little bit of fishing - then probably pick up some steaks from West Metro and grill out.

Sunday - Scout Sunday services at 11am, then home to start spring cleaning.

  17. NICE!! I like the tufted better looks more formal. Nice job. Question do you do any upholstery for a boat? Thanks

Thank you very much. I love the way that tufted furniture looks.

Yes we do boat upholstery. We usually do one or two custom boat interiors per year, and several that we just cover the pieces that are brought in.

Please let me know if we can help you out.
