  1. Last time we at at Zorba's --- a short bit North of the civic center, which actually has more italian food than greek food. It was good.
  2. You could check out http://www.west.com/careers/ which has work from home customer service jobs. They're legit, but you have to be able to deal with the public. They handle some Sears and several other major corps.
  3. Had over 18 updates to windows, office, etc. on my PC today when Windows Update ran. A number of security updates are included. If you don't have it set for autmatic updates, I suggest you run it now. Just remember to uncheck the install of Internet Explorer 8 --- didn't like it when I tried it in the past and intend to wait until I have to use it.
  4. Yes, it is his christmas Show titled Return to Bethlehem on December 5th.
  5. I see that the Dallas Theatre isn't having variety shows until sometime next year. Went to look at the Cedartown Shows website, they have absolutely no publicity and wonder why they don't get much of an audience, and saw that Roy Clark was there in September and Peter Noone of Hermans Hermits was there earlier this month. In December, shows iat the Cedartown Civic Center include John Berry & Crystal Gayle, all reasonably priced. In the past, we saw Mickey Rooney and his wife, plus a couple of other shows. If you can't find it with google, PM me for info.
  6. If you know Quick Books, call Simply Staffing in Rockmart. My sister-in-law told me they have a place with a clerical job opening in Rockmart. I believe it's $8.50 for 30 hrs/wk. They got her an interview with another place in Cedartown. Call them anyway --- they might have somethin else.
  7. UNionMom, FYI: You have the wrong dates for Christmas In Lithia in the calendar. It's Novembr 14/15. School
  8. The Pizza Farm in Rockmart, North of 278 and east of Rt. 113, is very good if you don't order the pizza --- only order the entrees. It's off the road and there are two ways in, so look for the signs on the right on 278 as you enter Rockmart --- if you get to 113 you missed that sign, so make a right and look for the sign on the right on 113. Or you can google for directions. It's in an old farm house.
  9. I got the automated CODE RED call on my home phone at about 8:43am. Unfortunately, since I have this cool ATT Privacy Director feature on my phone that requires callers without a Caller ID to say who they are and allows me to reject the call if I desire, I only got the part that said it was a CODE RED Alert, but not the part about what the alert was. Since I had gone to the paulding.gov and added my cellphone and e-mail address to the county's alert system, I turned on my cell to get the message that it was a Flash Flood Warning. One would think that, as an emergency service, t

  11. In cobb, on top of the senior exemptions, they freeze the assessment for all until the home is sold. The people who bought our old house in marietta, must have had their taxes double and we weren't even getting the senior exemption there.
  12. So, a few days ago my wife's brother-in-law from up North, who is staying in Marietta with my daughter and her husband while he completes his medical degree requirements, sent me and everyone back home, including his wife and 17-year old daughter, this brief article which subsequently when nantional under the heading "MY NEW TOWN". It was the subject of jokes on Jay Leno Wednesday & Thursday and SNL Weekend Update on Thursday along with other shows that I can't recall. Before it started popping up all over, I sent him back this longer article at AOL NEWS which explained the situa
  13. Had a similar problem with my former lawn service. Gave him something in trade for a number of cuts, but because of th economy he moved to Louisiana to work. Promised to send me the cash equivalent, but never did.
  14. I thought you were talking about Leno's joke about the homeless sex offenders in Marietta, in which probation officers sent to a homeless camp behind an office building because they couldn't find a place to stay that met the legal requirements --- shelters, churches, anything less than 1000 feet from a bus stop, etc. aren't allowed. My wife's brother-in-law, who is staying with our daughter in Marietta, sent the news article to all of his relatives up-north to show what kind of town he is now living in.

  17. Saw on TV that a bridge on Rt. 166 in Douglas County will have to be replaced --- closed for 6-9 months because of the flood. Anyone know what part of Rt. 166 this is? Is it the stretch between Rt. 92 / Fairburn Road and Camp Creek parkway? We use this road when going to the airport.
  18. Thanks to all --- Dr. Corwin is in all my medical plans. Q? Did they move from Austell Rd. to Powder Springs Rd.? All of my directories has them at Austell, although their website has the Powder Springs address.
  19. My wife needs to see an optthamologist because of complications from pre-diabetes. Any recommendations? So far I've found Douglasville Eye clinic (Dr. Hemming), Georgia Retina in D'ville (Drs. Sharma, Miller, Vandervelt) and Carrolton Eye Clinic in Villa Rica (Dr. Huttenbach), and Dr. Parada in Dallas. A few are "Board Certified" ---- most are not --- anyone know mif it matters?

  21. strange --- i haven't gotten anything yesterday at all. Happened to me once. I e-mailed Brandon Gurley, Public Information Office, 770-443-3010 bgurley@paulding.gov and it was corrected.
