  1. Can someone give me directions from New Georgia? I'm not sure where Beatty street is!
  2. WAVING BACK!! Miley says hello!
  3. Please tell me the "tape worm diet" is a joke!!
  4. At Cumberland Mall? Where they banged the drum at birthday parties? Yeah, I remember it!!
  5. My mother, who died last year, was married and divorced in Cobb County during the '80s. An insurance policy is needing a copy of their divorce decree in order to process the claim. Her ex-husband is still alive, but has no papers and doesn't know the date. We have all the other info (names, birthdates, SSNs, marriage date). Cobb County says we have to have the date of the divorce for them to produce the divorce decree ... Does anyone have any ideas, BESIDES getting ripped off on some internet scam??? THANKS!
  6. In addition to being a great cook and gardener, my MamaMabel knew how to be a true friend ... I could tell her anything and never have to worry about hearing it out of anyone else's mouth!
  7. I don't know how good he is with children, but Dr. Jimmy Brock in Bowdon, GA has amazing prices; definitely worth the trip!
  8. My daughter, ~*Kim*~, and I ate there Tuesday AND Wednesday! The large fajitas La Bamba (both times) are great! Beef, chicken, shrimp & pork, with peppers, onions, and squash and zucchini! Very nice service, too!
  9. Guilty! AC has been set at 70-71 since the weather got so nice! During the cold months, the heat is set at 61°F, unless my precious granddaughter is here. Then we'll click it up a few degrees, of course. By the way, our highest gas bill this year was $160 and some change As my daddy always says, you can always put more clothes on if you're cold, but it's hard to take enough off if you're not!!
  10. Does anyone know if it is mainly a major problem in PCB just on Spring Break?? My family (DH's mother and stepfather, me and DH, 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, and my precious granddaughter [forgot some . . . . . . sorry, forgot some . . . my dear BIL and his girlfriend, and probably my younger SIL and her companion, and assorted nieces and nephews]) are planning a visit over the July 4th holiday. Is it as wild then as during Spring Break? When we went around 1993, during the summer, my husband wouldn't even let me (or the daughters) go on the beach after dark because he was concer
  11. Thanks for all the advice from ex-smokers, and the hostility that's been shown is amusing! I just think, when I'm really ready to quit, that being so upset with this inferior product should really help me. Yes, we all have addictions, some more than one . . . I've smoked since I was thirteen (>30 years ), when it was such a "cool" thing to do in the middle school bathrooms. It's now such a regular part of my life that I don't know how to begin. Maybe I'll try the Chantix again. It was working really well when I used it before, and I know several people who have quit completely usi
  12. When I took the Chantix, I sat down and made a conservative estimate of how much money I've wasted in my life on cigarettes, and it was truly mind-boggling . . . > $50,000.00 That's my biggest worry -- it sure wasn't an easy way for Mother's chance to explore the afterlife . . . on her or US!!
  13. Are you an ex-smoker, or never been under the control of the powerful nicotine (and the hand-mouth habit that goes with it . . . which I think is even worse for me)?? It hasn't yet made me a "broke person" financially ( ), nor has it completely "broken" my life as it did Mother's . . . I cut several of your "I shall not smoke!" paragraphs so that I can successfully "psste" them onto my brain as needed . . . THANKS! ETA: In no way could my environment be labeled "smoke-free", though I do endure the negativity of my husband and sister, who have never smoked; at least they are
  14. Really? I almost quit completely several years ago on Chantix, but gave it up because of a severe and unexpected emotional situation in my life. I'm just trying to make myself so mad at them and disgusted in the actual inferior product that stopping completely will be easier than it otherwise would. At least it's a different approach!
  15. After about a third of the nasty things are smoked, it will easily go out in 20-30 seconds!
  16. Yes, I know they are killers; my Mother lost that fight last summer. I would love to be an ex-smoker. But, as an FYI to former smokers reading this, all packs now have an "FSC" on the bar code. What that means is I'm paying over $50 for a carton of cigarettes THAT WON'T STAY LIT!!!! And whatever is in it that makes it go out repeatedly (I assume for fire-safety) also makes them taste NASTY!! Before this change, I smoked about 1½ packs each day . . . now, about 4-5 packs will last a week, and most of them I'm throwing away half-smoked in disgust! Thanks for letting me ve
  17. Any ideas? I want to put a number "8" in one of the ears, and Kim loves Dale Jr., she didn't have pierced ears at that age, and I'm trying to be creative here! So just tell me what you would do, if you happened to want to do something like this! THANKS!
  18. Hi! I hope everyone has been well! My home office has floor-to-ceiling windows on 3 sides . . . on one blank wall, which is behind my printer, I am creating a uniquely personal bulletin board, with a few other things to fill in the spaces between each bulletin board. (I only have two so far!) So . . . in Kim's 9-month-old pictures, I have the clasic scene of the baby in the bathtub, complete with baby powder, towel, and rubber ducky. At the same seating, I have two pictures I'm putting on the top of each side of the bathtub picture. My question is this: One of the extra pictures s
  19. I love my Littermaid automatic litterbox that I purchased at PetSmart when my Sammy was a small kitten. He is now almost nine years old, and it's still going strong! I find it best to empty the waste receptacle twice a week, instead of just once weekly, so the ammonia smell doesn't get too strong. I keep mine in the kitchen, and hardly anyone would know it's there! Hope this helps in making your decision!
  20. I'm so sorry for your loss! You both appear fairly young -- how long were you married? My husband and I will celebrate our 25th Anniversary in December, and I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for you . . . PRAYERS, and I will go through several boxes of books after I check out COMMUNITY CHEST to see how I can help!
  21. My mother died on August 1st of this year, and I also had a lot of support from my posts on PCOM; it was and still is deeply appreciated! The Christmas arrangements with Mother were always a big hassle, and I think it will be weird and sad to NOT have the hassle . . .
  22. I accomplished a "Mom's Surprise Dinner" for both my busy children and their husbands! I cooked my famous "hashbrown casserole" in 3 different dishes, made my famous "Oven Fry" recipe for boneless pork chops (divided up between the three families), some cream corn, collards, and I sent both home with a can of pinto beans to warm up for themselves. Then I surprised the older daughter by calling her on her way up to let her know that their "take-out" was ready! I also had the grandbaby today while her mom was helping my sister -- it's been a while since I babysat for her, and we thoroug
  23. Well, it's going to be a pretty slim Christmas this year, except for our precious granddaughter Peyton ... I've gone a little overboard on her, but I swear I'm through!! (LOL ... yeah, right!) Anyway, she has one outfit that I bought on clearance last year, and assorted stocking stuff. However, a few weeks ago I was on ababy.com. I was looking for a toybox, as that is what my father bought my first child on her first birthday (by the way, it didn't survive the years and had to be discarded). ababy.com had a cute "Princess"-themed toybox, BUT, if I bought three things from that theme I got
  24. I "think" it was last January, but maybe the year before, when it was snowing on a Saturday morning. I live on 61S. Luckily, I had just let my Chihuahua inside and was looking out the kitchen window. A BEAUTIFUL red fox was in my side yard. He stood there for about 10 seconds, then went up to the neighbor's house. So I guess Paulding has fox and coyotes!
