Pubby, don't shut me down man!
Deputy Gomer Pyle replied to shopthebookworm's topic in Business NEWS
Well gol-lee, you just went and said it! To clarify, posts consisting of merely the word "bump" (or similar) intended to bump the thread up in the list of recent topics are not permitted. -
Sooo, will there be Christmas Mayberries this year?
Deputy Gomer Pyle replied to **Bren**'s topic in RECENT TOPICS
Either the Report button is broken or nobody has had any complaints since Wednesday. Mayberries and cherries for everybody! -
Good grief, I have received over 10,000 email notifications today and they are still coming in. Looks like I am receiving all the email that wasn't sent out over the last month. I had to create a filter to discard all of the email notifications before it gets to my inbox.

I have received 2500 email notifications this morning with more coming in for reports from early November. There was a glitch in the system that sent out 100s of duplicate email each time somebody reported a post, which led to Pubby disabling email notifications. The email that was received today must have been in queue somewhere and unleashed today. I hope the duplicate email glitch has been fixed.

I got bored with my radar gun so I decided to create a poll for some fun interaction with the PCOM community. When I came across two threads yesterday posting a video of the iBand at North Point Community Church, I was tempted to merge the threads. However, the topic titles were quite different and decided to let it be, figuring people may just open one thread or the other. Now that I have seen a third thread for this video today, I think that the threads should be merged. I am just curious what topic title should be used. The iBand video is pretty cool! Thanks to everybody who posted

Why did this even make the news

rockysmom, you are having a hard time grasping the "quote" function. When you click on "Reply" or "MultiQuote", the post that you are replying to is included in your post inside of "quote" tags. This allows a prudent poster to trim the quoted post down to only the relevant content, however, consequently also allows an unscrupulous poster to rewrite the quoted content. The quoted post is then rendered in the post as being quoted from a previous post and a link is provided to the original post. "Edited by" notes are only posted when that particular post (including any quoted posts) was edited an

Bored right now so i made a poll
Deputy Gomer Pyle replied to Jeremy Shelton's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have edited the poll to include "none" as an answer for the second question and made the first question not be multiple choice. -
I haven't been on patrol recently, just responding to calls. I'm not sure why nobody else changed the titles, perhaps I missed a memo. As far as I know, it shouldn't be allowed.

Problem with social networking website
Deputy Gomer Pyle replied to frustrated's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have had this problem with another website. Try deleting all of cookies that your browsers has stored for Facebook. I was able to finally stay logged in after I deleted the associated cookies and then signed in again. -
Exactly! I see only one of the title's was edited. And they wonder why some won't come here. I'd say it's painfully obvious. Though you'd like to believe that (and it may be true with some people, heck I don't know) this instance has nothing to do with favoritism. I noticed a URL of a non-commerce member in the title of a thread so I changed the title. I did not have time to go through the entire forum and did not see that there was another thread. I'll go look now.

William Avery registered willavery.com in October 2006. However, this William Avery is a creator of educational children's music. Maybe he thought to register willavery.com to protect his name from a spoof site, perhaps after seeing that a Deborah Avery registered williamavery.com in June 2004. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENLdaz4A9Ps

"So that's how the police station is being secured?"
-
Uh, NO. Cherry_top_(slang) From Wikipedia: Cherry top is American slang which refers to a specific type of Police car with only red rotating emergency vehicle lighting mounted to the roof. The term originated in the 1960s, which is when these red rotating "beacon" lights were common. Most modern Police cars have more elaborate lighting systems than the traditional rotating light(s) and they emit multiple colors; however, the term "cherry" or "cherries" is still sometimes used to refer to any emergency lighting on a Police car. Example of usage: "I didn't realize how fast I was

I was wondering what the deal was with hitting cherries Y'all just ain't right. Surely you've heard the expression of calling flashing lights on police cars cherries.
-
Just helping to serve and protect. I was on patrol nearby when a call came in about trouble brewing up, so I hit the cherries and rushed over.

I split the thread into The Battles. Y'all behave yourselves, ya hear?

You aren't doing anything wrong. The posts appear in chronological order, just like MrsB described. When you reply to a post, that post is automatically quoted in your reply but your reply is posted at the end of the page, not directly under the post that you replied to. The closest to a threaded display mode is the "outline" Topic Display Mode, available in the Forums Settings.
