In my sons case the money does not go to the City of Atlanta so it is actually less money for them. The defensive driving course is separate from COA as well as the people who do the MADD course and the other course I don't remember the name of. His community service will be through Atlanta Union Mission or similar. He won't have to pay a fine. All together it is half of what the fine would have been. Not just that though. He will have no points on his license after he completes everything. Under 21 you are only allowed 4 points, this accident would have been 3.
