  1. The idea of the promotion was not to get commerce members to send the codes. The idea was to get Pcommers to visit commerce members to pick up the cards and then THEM sending the codes and making new friends. That said, I have sent out about 15 or 16 PMs and only have had maybe 4 post that they got them. I got a PM from one member who said she got the code but she didn't post in this thread. I honestly didn't expect her to, but I her anyway. Somehow I ended up with cards for two people I personally know. That's what happens when you just grab a stack of cards on your way out t
  2. I think this is how my hubby feels, too. BTW, the old freezer already has a home. My daughter can use it. And who knows, it may work for another 10 years. It looks HORRIBLE but works like a champ. For now.
  3. I hadn't thought about the possibility of them having a lock. I guess hubby hadn't thought of that either. I remember the freezer we had when I was growing up had a lock but it was a chest freezer. The one I have now doesn't have a lock nor does the lid stay up by itself. I noticed that the new ones do.
  4. I'm not so much petite as I have a difficult time bending. Bad back and bad knees will do that to you. But I know what you mean! I actually put a small cardboard box in the bottom of mine so I wouldn't have to worry about the very bottom having stuff on it.
  5. I have stuff in the bottom of the freezer that I must have had for five years. I have no clue what's in the bottom. I keep trying to make that point to my hubby but he's afraid that the door might accidentally get left open if we get an upright and we will lost everything in there. I kept telling him that we were losing stuff to the BOTTOM of the freezer as it is.
  6. Hubby and I have been looking for a freezer to replace our current one which is somewhere between 20 and 100 years old. I'm the third owner, at least, and we know its not going to last forever. We are at odds about what kind to get. I want an upright freezer while hubby insists that we need to get a chest freezer. I've had two chest freezers and absolutely hate them. Do you have a freezer? If so, what kind is it--chest or upright? Would you get that kind again? If not, why not? TIA
  7. I just sent out three PMs. I have maybe 2 or 3 more to go.
  8. I've sent out over a dozen already. I think two of the members posted in this thread that I had sent them the code. I picked up about another dozen cards yesterday and will get those numbers sent ASAP.
  9. Everyone who thinks the Hiram K-Mart sucks should travel down the road to the one in Mableton. Now THAT sucks. Even as bad as it is, I prefer it over the Hiram Walmart. Any day.
  10. Virtually anything is better than the Walmart in Hiram.
  11. I have a Maytag and love it. Handle broke but the dishwasher still works. Just keep meaning to have hubby put the new handle back on. I have all Maytag appliances--washer/dryer combo, bottom freezer fridge, range and dishwasher. I have only had one problem with the washer. None with the fridge or range (knock on wood). The handle broke on the dishwasher but a replacement was something like $20 including shipping. I had a hodgepodge of appliances before 2006. I LOVE GE but neither Home Depot nor Lowe's had a matched set of range, fridge and dishwasher when I was looking to buy new
  12. IMO, the BEST discount department store in Hiram IS K-Mart. Walmart in Hiram sucks big time. Target is OK but they don't carry half the stuff that K-Mart does. I go to Target when I want to be alone while I shop. I was just in K-Mart about a half hour ago. It was busy. Just a few people at the return desk and there were several checkouts open.
  13. My experiences at the Hiram K-Mart this year have been surprisingly pleasant. Hubby and I went there to buy an inversion table that was on sale. It was in stock! Shocking. I went there specifically to buy something else for Christmas, and amazingly enough, they had it. It was the hit of the Christmas presents, too. I'm going today to return two shirts I bought for Christmas. If they don't have anything I like, I'll run to the one in Mableton in a few days to see what they have. That is a store I hate going to. I always feel so out of place. Of course, I did when we lived i
  14. You obviously weren't there on the 23rd. That place was PACKED! In fact, I've been three times since Thanksgiving and it was busy all three times.
  15. the blackeyed peas are supposed to signify luck and the collard greens signify wealth or money. New Year's Day 2001 I cooked my traditional New Years dinner of blackeyed peas and collard greens. By the end of April hubby and I had sold $300,000 of real estate.
  16. If we were the buyers I wouldn't even THINK about doing it without an attorney because of the possibility of problems with the title or something else. However, as the sellers and knowing the title history and knowing that we haven't done anything funky, I'm willing to do it. I really hope the buyer will want an attorney to handle it. I'd rather NOT do it ourselves.
  17. Got blackeyed peas at the store a couple of days before Christmas because I had such a hard time finding them last year. Will get the greens in a day or two, probably Wednesday or Thursday. Already got sweet potatoes. We usually have a vegetarian New Year's dinner unless I find some hog jowl to throw in with the peas. There's only two of us to cook for, so the trays of hog jowl are usually too large for us.
  18. All are good points but we're the SELLERS not the buyer so do we really need to worry about title issues if we know that when we purchased the property the title was fine and we know we haven't done anything freaky with it? And the whole idea is for someone else to own the property, not us!
  19. 1000 apologies. well, we purchased for cash in 2001. So there is nothing screwy there. The title was clear when we purchased. Should something come up, it truly WOULD be a surprise.
  20. We don't have any qualms about doing this ourselves. The house pretty much has had two owners since 1938--the original owners and ourselves. So, the title work should be minimal. And I seriously, seriously doubt there would be problems with the title down the road. And Surepip, I think we have only used one attorney in Paulding for real estate, one of the largest law firms in the county but that was when we refinanced. I doubt we would use anyone in Paulding since the property is in Cobb. If the buyer has no preference, we would likely use the attorney we used when we purchased the
  21. The last time we purchased property, in 2001, I think the attorney charged $500 for a cash deal. I figured it had gone up since that.
  22. Thanks Mark. BTW, I sent you a message on FB. And I see you replied. Thanks!!
  23. Is that in Marietta? I'll ask our buyer if he has an attorney he wants to use. We always let the buyer decide, and always wanted to decide who to use if we were the buyer. Thanks!!
