  2. The Hiram Olive Tree can handle it. Please try to keep it in Hiram and Paulding County if possible. We have some great small businesses who need our support.
  3. Hiram is at Ben Hill Strickland Park on Tuesdays from what I understand. It really does't bring any traffic to downtown businesses though.
  4. How was the one at Strickland Park Tues? Wish it was still downtown.
  5. Part of the problem in getting this type of business to open in older downtown areas is the amount of food service regulations (sometimes contradictory) from the federal, state, county and city level!!But I guess someone has to look out for us dummies!!

  7. Dr. Bruce Goldsweig, Georgia Cancer Specialists at the Medical building on Bill Carruth Parkway was super when I first found out about my cancer. That was about3 years ago and 2 operations ago but zero cancer now.
  8. As a downtown business owner I think the car show was a a success in spite of the threat of bad weather. I am very appreciative of all the hard work put in to planning the event and making it happen and to all the folks who brought cars, trucks and motorcycles and to all the people who came to enjoy it all! The next one will be even better.
  9. Vintage clothing,including evening wear is now available upstairs at the antique store in downtown Hiram.
  10. If any of you are riding around this afternoon near downtown Hiram stop by and visit. We are going to be open for a while, as well as the book store.
  11. Two women came in our store last week who are painters(movie sets) and they said the "Change up" is being partially filmed there.There are 5 or 6 seperate movie sets in the old Rhodes warehouse.
  12. Yep, Used to get good sorgum syrup from Mr. Arthur Dobbins. Burgers market used to have salt fish and good syrup from the Seabolt family in N Ga. Wonder if they are still around anywhere?
  13. Standing ribroast Christmas eve and we used to have salt fish when my parents were alive. Anyone know where I could find salt fish around here now?
  14. I had the Mediterrainian salad with shrimp for lunch. Absolutely the best combination of flavors (shrimp, artichoke hearts,cheese,peppers,grilled onions)and more that I've ever had! It was super!!
  15. yes, They finished Tuesday and they are in the process of putting the town back to Hiram instead of Bomont! We have quite a few pictures of the whole process which will be on display in the antique store in Hiram soon.

For all of the extras who filmed in Hiram on Mon and Tues as well as anyone else interested, they desperately need caucasian men, age 23-60 for extras on Friday for a race scene in Senoia which is about 40 miles south of Atlanta. Email contact number and age to bigfootatl@gmail.com. Long day but lots of fun I imagine.
  17. I believe Milani's 1890 French dressing was about the closest to the Rio Vista dressing as mentioned earlier. I believe it had more red wine vinegar than regular French dressing.Maybe someone can re-create it. Vaughn's had a good french dressing also, with that hambuger steak and fries. And don't forget that vanilla milkshake and Kate's grin.

  19. I just contacted the casting company and asked them to get in touch with the young man(he emailed me)so I'm sure he will get the correct number shortly.I don't think the info has been posted to the hotline yet though, its supposed to be there later this evening.
  20. WE heard that they will be at the Presbyterian church in Cartersville tomorrow 12-2.Or you can email photos and info to bigfootatl@gmail.com .Great turnout in Hiram today . About 250 people. Thanks to Hiram officials and police everthing went very smooth.
  21. It is 10:15 and people are getting in line. If you want to do this just come on down.There is plenty of parking at city hall . It should be fun.
  22. The open casting call for extras in the new Footloose movie will be from 12:00-1:00 tomorrow (Saturday) at Main St Antiques in downtown Hiram. The casting company will be taking photos and info tomorrow and select extras at a later date. The movie will be filmed in Hiram and several other cities in Ga. The casting call they had in Covington Thursday attracted over 1000 people . It was on Fox 5 News last night. This is certainly some positive news for our city and county.
  23. They are filming the movie in downtown Hiram at the car lot, coffee house and in front of the antique store. Some scenes will also be filmed on Seaboard Ave. The movie is a remake of the 1984 "Footloose" which starred Kevin Bacon. Dennis Quaid will be in most of the scenes in Hiram. They are using several towns to film the movie, Acworth being the nearest. The open casting call on Saturday should be a lot of fun so come on down even if you don't want to be discovered! And yes,Bob is just the middle man. I forward all of the photos and info to the casting company.
