  1. Smyrna. On Church Road, to be exact.

Went to Labelle, Smyrna, Brown & Norton Park Elementary, Nash Jr High and Wills. Never moved until I got married. Yes, went to 4 elementary schools and never moved! My sister went to 6 in 8 years.

I went to Brown Elementary too!

  2. About $2 per game. But you don't realize that because they have a machine where you put your $ in it, it goes on a card and you swipe the card at every game. Maybe a hand full are 1 point, they use a point system, but all the ones my 6 year old likes, are 6-8 points each game. But you do win a lot of tickets if you play the right games well.

  3. Hey lulu we're here now, but the weather is very hit/miss every day. I vote don't do it. Supposed to be bad come Monday and people are canceling where we're staying, so they don't expect to even be busy for the holiday. Not worth the drive and $ for a hurricane. We're going to be headed home before it really hits and it's boring in the room with 3 kids. We had a beautiful day today!!!

  4. "Legally" any animal bite is supposed to be reported to county animal control. The animal, up to date or not, is required by law to be quarantined for 10 days. This is to ensure the animal has not been exposed to Rabies, and the person bit won't needs to receive painful and expense Rabies shots at the bite site. The quarantine can be done either at the shelter for a minimal fee or at the vet of your choose.

  5. And as a side note: The shelter does not euthanize animals that they have already spayed or neutered. They are either adopted, rescued, transfered, etc. The only exception would be if the animal becomes so sick/ill that it's suffering or it's later discovered the animal has an issue that is untreatable making it unadoptable.

  6. Okay I've read all the posts and after picking my jaw up off the floor, here goes...

An adoption fee is set for many reasons. To begin with, vet care is NOT free. Second, charging a fee is the best way (after an application process) to know that an applicant can provide for an animal immedietely following the adoption and for the rest of it's life. If you don't have $25, $35, or $100, please don't adopt or get an animal, you don't need one. Even a fully vetted animal for $100 is still going to immedietely cost you approx. $50+ for even just a 6 month supply of heartworm and flea prevention. And if you're not going to go buy heartworm and flea prevention to keep your dog healthy and parasite free, please don't adopt or get an animal.

Prime example: An e-mail I received today from a lady that adopted a puppy from us a few months back. Right after the adoption, she lost her job, she never took the puppy in for any puppy boosters, never got it on heartworm and flea prevention. Thank god we spay and neuter and chip prior to adoption or these things would have not been done and now she would more than likely be contacting us to return a dog + her dozen puppies or so. So now we have to heartworm test the dog and pray she tests negative, restart her series if DHLPP vaccinations, get her Rabies, flea treat her, deworm her several times and have her rechecked by our vet. And on top of it all, now we have a full grown dog to place vs. the highly adoptable puppy everyone wanted months ago. Of course this adopter couldn't have predicted what would happen, but it certainly tells the story of what happens when one can't afford an animal, even though she could initially afford the $100 adoption fee.

It saddens me to hear such ignorant comments about things like disagreeing with microchipping, or only doing what the law requires. Please find a nice fuzzy stuffed animal, name it and call it your pet!

  7. Weather sucks, it's still double red flag with the coat guard flying over and the sheriff riding the beach saying stay out. We thought we were going to watch some crazy moron on a board drown yesterday. Jelly fish are still here with the seaweed. Had about 2 hours of good sun today with plenty of rain before and after.

  8. We used Hometown and they bought them out. Have had nothing but problems, including days without a check card and now they are trying to charge me for check imaging which I am so not paying for. I absolutely hate the Hiram branch and with the brick walls vs. someone's face they take their sweet time getting around to helping you. I'll be switching ASAP just can't decide to where yet.
