Lovers of Patsy Cline, Neil Young, Jewel, and Johny Cash among others may not recognize his name, but he was instrumental in the success of all of these artists. One of so many without the glamor but with all the talent. Ben Keith, gifted guitarist, pedal steel player, sax player, piano man, and music producer died this week of unreported causes. He will be missed. Ben Keith 1937-2010

The mirrors and the lack of trim are the only give aways from the front of the vehicle. They are being as sneaky as the law allows. Actually, with most folks they are so engrossed in their phone conversation that the GSP could use Wienermobiles and catch the majority of 'em. No, the statement that this was a rumor was on the news. It is a rumor. But I agree that if you speed you take your chances if there is a special crack down or not.

OK, what does "properly marked" mean? I guess that anything over 35 is fair game, and anything under 35 must be a "properly marked" school, work, historic, or residential zone? ETA, I know that they consistently violate the 500 ft visibility rule for stationary radar by parking back in the church parking lot. They are at least 100 feet from the street.

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race

In order to do that we either have to change human nature or institute REAL ethics laws and REAL campaign finance reform. The recent SCOTUS decision is a true disaster for campaign finance reform no matter if you agree with it's constitutionality or not. I places M O N E Y right front and center and practically codifies vote buying. Elected officials want to stay in office and in order to do that they have to play along with the ones in charge of doling out the dollars. I don't like it, you don't like, even a lot of them don't like it, but it is an iron clad fact. Ever since Nixon brok -
How does Powder springs get away with running radar in a 25MPH non work and non school zone?
-
It is sometimes difficult to tell if a vehicle is marked or not, particularly at night. Most agencies tell you to call 911 on your cell and give them your location as you slowly proceed toward a well lit public location to pull over. And hope that a rookie doesn't ram you just for fun.
-
I know that it was a few years ago, because I got out of a ticket in Ringold. They didn't think I would fight it. It was immediately thrown out. Maybe that is Powder Spring's ploy. Or maybe it is an historic district???? 40-14-8. (a) No county, city, or campus officer shall be allowed to make a case based on the use of any speed detection device, unless the speed of the vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit by more than ten miles per hour and no conviction shall be had thereon unless such speed is more than ten miles per hour above the posted speed limit. It is illegal in the State of Georgia to use an unmarked vehicle for the purposes of traffic enforcement. All vehicles must have the name of the police agency on the side of the vehicle. The use of "unconventional" vehicles such as SUV's is legal, as is the use of "slick tops", or vehicles without readily visible light bars, but they too must be marked. Georgia State Patrol officers may write tickets for any violation that they witness. County and municipal police may only write speeding tickets for 10 mph over the speed limit or more on STATE ROUTES. They may enforce local speed limit

Those of you pissin' in PUBBY's Corn Flakes might want to reread the title of this thread. Both Kelly and Pubby plainly call the video an editorial. For those of you out there that can't tell the difference between opinion and pure fact, anything said after the word "editorial" is usually an opinion. You may or may not agree with PUBBY's opinion, but the man has every right to publish it here in his sand box. And FTR, I didn't see or hear the word "hate" anywhere in reference to the candidate in question. That is a term that is used by partisans to evoke an emotional response and elici

Is there any part of "in my opinion" that you didn't understand? IN MY OPINION, any candidate for office that berates a citizen and a journalist in a public forum while running for office does not have the temperament or self control to serve the public in any capacity. That would include anything from President of the United States through District Attorney, and right on down to Dog Catcher (no offense to dog catchers). Therefore I do not need to know the conviction rate to come to that conclusion. Please feel free to base your vote on whatever you wish. Vote for Mr, Donovan because he

Unfortunately, my guy lost, but I will most likely write him in this time anyway. I can not in good conscience vote in favor of either candidate still left in the race.
-
It isn't personality, it's plain common sense not to berate a citizen, former client or not, and a journalist (Pubby, you can thank me later) and call them names in a public forum if you are running for public office, let alone threaten a suit. It tells me that this particular candidate certainly hasn't exercised good judgment here, and quite probably will not as a public official. Anybody who has shown the temperament and lack of self control and respect for others to act in this manner, has IN MY OPINION shown himself to not be worthy of my vote. There may be a place and a time for sel

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
lotstodo replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I agree, it is a very important issue. I believe we have discussed it before, but it needs to be resurrected as an issue during this election. I am torn on whether or not to allow the BOE direct power to implement a development tax. Development and zonimg decisions are rightfully the responsibility of the BOC, and the ability to directly implement an impact fee could be used as a defacto veto power by the BOE. I am, however 100% behind the ability for a county or municipality to use impact fees for school related capital expenditures. I am also for ending the draconian rules that have to -
I believe that Mr. Donovan has shown his true colors in these threads, and they are not red, white, and blue. I can not and will not vote for somebody who conducts themselves as he has here on this public board. The entire contents of these threads should be posted in a full page ad in the newspaper so everyone has a chance to see how a candidate for public office has conducted himself. It is my considered opinion that this has been a shameful display, unbecoming of anyone in a public forum, let alone a public figure trying to gain the confidence of the electorate.
