  1. I had no idea you had to do that kind of training for 911! Good vibes sent!
  2. I vote the 22nd. I am running the Susan G Koman 5k on the 8th
  3. You're a great mom. and I agree that kids mimic what they see, but not everything they see is from there parents. They are in school 8 hours a day with other children. My son has picked up a few habits, words, and phrases that we don't use in our house, from classmates.
  4. I just don't see how you can blame her actions on another person. I'm sure the kid is a little jerk, I'd probably not want to be around him either if it's as bad as They say, BUT her actions are her own. I understand being fed up with a child, I understand having to put your hands on a child in a manner to control them or stop them from hurting you/others, What she did, I don't understand.
  5. Oh, I agree. I've seen it. I've seen parent's place blame on the teachers for doing or not doing whatever and just treat school as a free childcare. But I've also seen, and am living in the life where parents do everything possible to figure out the problem. It's hard to diagnose children that age with certain mental ailments. If that child wasn't in behavioral theropy before I hope he will be now.
  6. NO, a good teacher didn't lose her job over a thug. That child is only 5. That teacher lost her job because she took things too far. She made that decision all on her own. That wasn't self defense either, she had 12 kids gang up and punch another child in the face. No one on here said it wasn't ok for the child Jr. hit to hit him back, what isn't ok is this teacher do what she did.
  7. he deserved to get hit back by the girl that he punched, yeah. the eleven other kids were overkill. I'm still just shocked she didn't step back after she had the first kid punch him and say "Ooops, this may be a bad idea."
  8. I agree. also in another one of your posts, you said you felt your breaking point aproaching, so you left the situation....I bet that teacher is really wishing she'd done the same thing. She has lost her career over this poor judgment call. I doubt any other schools will be willing to take her on after that.
  9. My son is hard to deal with sometimes, but it's not because I don't do anything, and act like he's this sweet angel that the teachers are picking on. I am well aware of his behavior. He is in behavioral theropy, and we're working on it. Whose to say the mother of this child isn't doing the same thing?
  10. THAT IS A CHILD. If you are in that field and can't handle a difficult child, either go to your superior and see what can be done about placing him in another class or ask the parent not to bring him back, like you said earlier. I understand children can be extreamly difficult, I have a child that is, but that behavior that the "Adult" used is not excusable, not even a little bit. And it's not like she had started her "punishment" and after the first punch realized "Oh, what am I doing?!" NO, she continued to let it go on with ELEVEN more children, TELLING them to punch another child (A ch
  11. Rest of Story Here Um, if this were my son, I believe I'd be punching this woman in the face!
  12. at the rate the thread asking our opinions on how we feel about the health care bill is growing....give it a couple of days and it might be the new champ.
  13. I've been thinking/saying the same thing!!! Not because of my employer, I'm grateful to have my job and benefits, but my husbands. Yes, we are very grateful that he has a job everything, but that employer is HORRIBLE!!!!! They remind their installers on a daily basis that they are disposable, there is a major lack or moral in that place, and the installers and their time are completely taken advantage of. And if you ask me, i think my hubby gets the worst of it because of his appearance; he is the only one on the crew with tattoos and his boss has made several comments about how "offensive" th
  14. that stinks because if you shoot it....the *owners* may not remove the body.....and if they don't move it, you don't want it just staying there, so you'll end up with that burden too. People just don't realize how their actions or lack of effect others. Your son gets bit, you have to shoot the dog for protection, you have to clean that up....not fair. not right. Sorry you have to put up with crap like that.
  15. I never understood shooting guns in the air to celebrate. having been on the wrong end of the gun before, now it just scares the crap out of me. Guns have a purpose, shooting in the air to celebrate new years is not it.
  16. i hear ya! my dad remarried when i was 11, and had a baby. there were 8 of us in a 3/2.
  17. this is so sad, I couldn't imagine.
  18. hopefully those warning shots will scare that idiot and any of his friends from trying to do another break in! I can't believe they did it while your neighbors were home! I would freak out!
  19. My husband had a new coworker that relocated from up north a few years ago that asked him what on earth a "GUMMIT" was. Hubby was like "a gummit? where did you hear that, maybe it will help me understand what you're talking about." and he said one of the other co workers kept saying "Dead Gummit." he thought it was a bug or something so he was looking all over the shop for "dead gummits."
  20. I agree, it bugs me that it was added to the dictionary because it was so frequently used.
  21. i have heard peroxide works. but i've never tried it myself. i found this link... how to use hydrogen peroxide to remove stains
  22. i heard the 911 call on the bert show this morning and it just made my heart ache. I couldn't imagine any child in that much fear. I'm so happy that everyone is ok!
