Paulding making BIG news - NYT, WSJ weigh in on airport with stories

LOL. BTW, has anyone actually seen that half million $$$ airport specialty fire truck the BOC purchased with SPLOST funds a couple of years ago? If so, snap a pic for me -
Chairman claims appointment right on IBA; post commissioners divided
rockster replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Although not directed for a response from me, I'll tune in. Apples vs Oranges re: Supreme Court Justices. Yep, highly respected educated folks. That have been appointed and have a very stressful mindset, yet they do not have the ability to issue bonds on the taxpayers. Quite obvious an elected official bailed way b4 he should have. Can't argue there can you? The community, IMO, has gooten involved and taking notes. I just wish the division of the community would come to peace if the two current pending cases would be heard. Typical, it's the COUNTY not wanting to go to court. -
What happened to the thought from pro commercial folks that 139 would happen and commercial service would begin early 2014? Lawsuits that are still pending? EA survey? I can only imagine until the current two pending lawsuits go to court and be heard, there will be several more legal battles for MANY years

You lost my respect and many other previous members (many of them paying members) years ago when you allowed and had knowledge of a mod highjacking a members ID and posting mean, nasty topics. And I was not the only person that happened to. But, that showed folks about the integrity of the owner, admin, and mods on this site. Several of us were having a peecom meet & greet party. We didn't have internet access, yet after the party I starting getting calls and pm's about the nasty topics I was posting. They knew damn well I didn't post them since the time stamp on those topics we all w

Chairman claims appointment right on IBA; post commissioners divided

LOL. Yeah, no knowledge of who is funding the plaintiff's legal fees. But if it's Delta or the City of Atlanta...they could buy and sell Paulding County in a heartbeat. -
Chairman claims appointment right on IBA; post commissioners divided
rockster replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
I agree his position as Chairman is a paid full time gig, but he sits on other boards w/in the county and outside the county. I guess my confusion comes in where he went to get an opinion from an outside legal firm. Damn sure did not happen overnight. Furthermore, I find it odd the Chairman hired outside legal counsel regarding something concerning issues he holds a seat on. Sorta not right in my mind. Oh, please encourage the Chairman to take the pending cases to Court and be heard. It just continues to divide the community with his failure -
Chairman claims appointment right on IBA; post commissioners divided

And paying for years to come. Just watched the afternoon BOC Mtg. I can imagine legal fees out the window. I truly believe most of this mess that has divided the community could be put to rest if the CEO/ Chairman would go to Court. Be done with it, yet the fight continues. But you can not complain about folks getting involved after a year or so being a secret deal. IMO, no doubt a sour issue. Seriously, a few of you know the County bankrupted a known poster on this site because the County did not want to show face in Court. Sad, very sad. Yet you have a divided BOC arguing, although t -
Paulding Chamber being challanged on airport issue

Why even suggest an "argument" in your topic. Dang, the community needs to stop this chit -
I just can't understand Pubby's failure to cover this mess as a self proclaimed journalist. Figured he would've been all over but, then again, just the votes kept him down. But bottom line as a business owner of a local media site figured he would capitalize on local issues

Paulding Chamber being challanged on airport issue
rockster replied to WHITEY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I find a bunch of upsetting issues, too many to list. Although from what I have read it was a great turn for the community input meeting. Ether pro or con, great folks from the community showed up!!!! That is huge as you can agree to disagree (although, not this time). I've read on another media site, the Corporate Hangar the mtg was held at is still not complete after four years of construction. Four years, $$$millions later, for a structure not complete? There is also that $7mil vacant Movie Studio up FOR SALE. There is a common denominator here....the Director of the Airport and the Mov -
Consider you can not deny that a bunch of folks, being taxpayers and voting citizens of the County, started looking into some things when got notice of things happening at the Airport and had not been publicly known. Consider ALOT of stuff has surfaced through open records request, beyond the airport issues. Consider the leadership of the County should realize this has divided the community and go to be heard in Court. The community will have to accept any and all legal decisions set by the Court.

Question. What the heck is the proper name of that General Aviation Airport out on 278? -
Paulding Chamber being challanged on airport issue
rockster replied to WHITEY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Once again and I hope you respond to me. WHAT jobs have been created to date since the General Aviation Airport has been operational?? How much $$$ has been mortgaged (bonds) that the taxpayers are on the hook for? It' s a very nice facility as a GA (didn't cost a damn cent, COUGH) to the taxpayers. Bottom line, where are the jobs? Folks are upset having to accept an airport that was voted down twice, yet have to live with the fact it was built anyways and a failure of draining money from taxpayers. Please respond to this and tell me..................how many JOBS have been created VS -
Paulding Chamber being challanged on airport issue
rockster replied to WHITEY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Maybe off topic here, but my belief is having all authority members be county residents. Hey, they have the authority to issue bonds yet do not live in the County. Seriously, look at the folks mortgaging the taxpayers $$ via bonds, yet they don't not live in the county. -
Paulding Chamber being challanged on airport issue

Been reading stuff on FB as well as watching the video. My interpretation from the video the folks against the airport going commercial dang sure presented actual, educated facts. The few folks that are for it, really did not interest me as they could not present factual information, just opinions (which is not bad). Bottom line, someone needs to slap some sense on David Austin. Chairman and CEO of Paulding County holding up litigation re: airport that has divided numerous county residents. Take it to Court and be done with it. And for the folks saying it's costing taxpayers for the Court -
Paulding's issues. Why can't we do better?
rockster replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Maybe get the Chairman to step it up a bit and go to Court. My understanding the firm is collecting money from the county, but the plaintiffs are ready to have a day in Court. What's the problem? Who is the problem and costing taxpayers?? Whatcha you fraid of willis -
GAME ON.
-
IMO I doubt the plaintiff's are going to back down. I've said it before, why are certain folks in the county keep delaying a day in court. Take it to court, and be done with it. Folks will have to respect the decision. As far is who is paying for their lawyers, who knows. But I damn sure believe I saw the writing on the wall a couple of months ago who is behind it. BTW, I assume you know the PCAA is getting help from an outside source for certain legal fees
-
Watch the video, the BOC was not served just three commissioners. I find a few things odd, and wish this all would be over with the division it has caused in the community. David Austin even commented prior to executive session two or three lawyers in the audience being paid $400-500 per hour. Umm, who is dragging out a couple of legal issues going on two years?? Get it over with David, go to court and not drag it out. Another thing. Due to the fact the PCAA and IBA insists their meetings be at the BOC meeting room due to security concerns, yet in the video you witness a woman quic

Nope. Too early. Besides wear down on my back retrieving Halloween and Thanksgiving bins from the attic. Oh snap..........the thought of the wreaths and lights to be put out.
-
Wrap the willy and don't be silly. Just sayin
-
Not sure what you consider original. The de-faced dollar bills with a serious misspelling at a Halloween Party, or many commerce members getting pissed off due to the admin not following up on a commitment as a business owner
-
Bottom line, we can argue all day. Rather a factual debate I wish and not divide the county, but some folks would rather keep from going to court to get this over with. But, it's been about ten years since dirt was being pushed around for a General Aviation Airport, yet HOW MANY JOBS have been created? How many $$$$$ millions have been mortgaged via bonds? Can anyone say how many jobs have been created, what do you expect from a nice facility as it sits today that has been a drain and IMO not being managed well. Do you really believe if you don't have visitors in the past or today, you wil

No doubt they pay more taxes as the real estate market is outrageous in that region. I grew up in Northern Virginia and still have family and friends that live there. Couple of things you need to remember. The Federal Government is HQ'd there. A majority of folks in some form or fashion (full time, contracted, lobbyists, etc) work indirectly or directly and the pay is damn good including full beni and pensions for career folks. With keeping that in mind, during the recession 2008, the growth continued in that region since the Fed Gov't was recession proof.
