  1. My brother and I always went to private school(Marietta/Atlanta). Our teachers would visit our home from time to time for different reasons. Believe me, it puts the holy fear of God in a kid knowing their teachers and principal know where they live and know their parents on a first name basis!

From what I see we need some home visits...many kids need a new appreciation of the respect they should have when at school. :glare:

  2. I heard the speculators were pushing it up to make money…now they are pushing it down... and will make money on the way down too. I guess it is like stocks running up or down. There are floors to buy and sell…the broker is making the money as speculators get in and out? :spiteful:

Since it is a monopoly, I do not know why it is traded as a future…they should not allow speculating on a monopoly. All the oil companies get their oil from the same tanks regionally, and from the same processors.

If it was like soy beans that you could go out purchase land, and grow it…I would support it being a future.

It is like them speculating on the water that comes out of the lakes into our houses…no matter what it costs, we have to have it. Even water, we could get a big barrel and collect the water that comes out of the sky…so in a way water is less of a monopoly than oil!

The whole thing is annoying, and corrupt somehow! :aggressive: =@ =@

  3. Lake Guntersville is a great place!! We have a campground membership at a campground/marina resort on the lake. It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive but well worth it. :p

I grew up camping at Sweetwater in Canton. From Dallas, take 41 North to 75 @ Redtop Mountain. 75 North, exit on the Hwy 20 exit and turn right on 20. Take 20 a ways and turn right onto Field's Chapel Road at the Chevron Station. Follow Field's Chapel to the campground. The campground has several bath houses, two beaches, a boat launch and is great for bike riding

Guntersville is fun for the kids...very close campsites, but you do meet people that way. Bathrooms with A/C...a real bonus in summer. There is a nice playground, and a great sandy beach with dock to fish off.

We love Sweet Water too, but the bathrooms do not have A/C or heat. Great to ride bikes, nice beach, open areas for kids to play, plus small playgrounds.

We also like Carters lake...it is beautiful! The bathrooms have both A/C and heat. Camp sites are more private. It is more fun if you have a boat. Unlike the other two, campsites are not by a sandy beach...in fact you must walk down steep hills to get to the lake, and I do not know that there is a beach. There is a dock at the boat launch though.

Our favorite... but a long drive, and you must have some form of camper (no tents) is Bryn Mawr in St Augustine, FL. They do have cottage/mobile homes to rent too. My kids love it because they can get up in the morning and walk to the beach, or go swim in the pool.

The most fun is going with several families!

  4. :shok: You are right.......I saw this! :p

    Here ya go.......

    Wow! I love this! :good:

It makes sense...no leaving your car where it can be broken in to. If you have to run an errand at work, no problem you have your car.

It is safe because you are not in an open train/bus with the general public like most mass transit. If the cost is less than a car you might be able to own one for work, but have a traditional car for long out of state trips etc?

  5. My father used to sing this song to me when I was little. It was a silly up beat song...any one else know it?

Mares eat oats, and does eat oats, but little lambs eat ivy, a kid 'ill eat ivy too wouldn't you? All thought the words sound strange and funny to your ears, a little bit jumble and jivy. You know mares eat oats, and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy.

And when there was a mis-understanding, he would say this poem…always pissed my mom off…but as a kid I thought it was funny:

Two goats were walking down a pasture.

The first goat said "Let's walk a little faster.

"I can't" said the second goat, "my toe is sore"

"Sorry goat I did not know."

  6. Who cares? Going to the dentist isn't exactly a pleasurable experience, but your smile represents who you are. To the OP, work it honey. Don't stop till you drop. I plan on looking this good forever! You go on with your bad self.

You’re right on that... Your face (and smile) is what the world sees. Prince4ever's results are amazing...quite inspiring in fact. I had only seen the commercials for lifestyle lift and sort of thought it might not be true.

Good to know a referral from a person who has done it…that you have seen real results!

  7. This thread is funny. I am glad to know that it's not my kid because he doesn't have a DL. Hehe.

    Yeah, yet...

Eight years ago, one of the families that live in our subdivision at the end of the cul-de-sac challenged all the parents that as our kids aged (at the time they were tweens) we needed to hold the parents accountable, and talk to the parents, if a child was speeding or driving dangerously, or too fast.

Now, the woman who told us this has teens that SPEED down the street, and through our subdivision. Her 18 year old was in a terrible accident where 3 were badly injured- car totaled...due to speed...gave him another one...and guess what? You tell her the kids drive too fast...SHE GETS MAD AT YOU!

Every so often I think the teens have slowed down...I realize it is one of the parents using the car the teen usually drives. Too many parents want to pretend there kids do no wrong!

  8. WOW!! It really is great. I would love to have some lipo and a major tummy tuck, but not sure I can take the pain. Or afford to have it done.

Yeah, it looks GREAT...but how much pain? Keep track of the pain factor for the next few weeks and let us know, please!

I think the face is where I might put money. My grandma's eye lids had to be taped up because they blocked her vision otherwise. ... I have my grandmothers exact eyes. ... When I was 13 and saw that, I swore I would fix my eyes surgically before I use TAPE! But now that I am aging... I hate the idea of self induced pain!

My SIL did a tummy tuck/liposuction. She was hoping to correct ugly c-section scars, and to get her flat tummy back. She was in MAJOR pain after ...all I could think was "it was self induced!" AND, her results were bad... after all that pain... horrible scarring, can't wear a two piece... but her stomach IS flat, and at least now the scar is not puckered, but it is much bigger!

  9. no. Someone the company already called "the golden boy" got it. He's been here 18 mos. and knows nothing about our business. I just threw up a little.

Use the weekend to take a breath... you do still have a good job right?

Sometimes a "golden boy" will not stay for very long. Often they will jump to another company, one position above where they currently are in very little time. As you said he was hired and knows nothing of the job, so he is good at self promotion. Since he probably knows he is in way over his head, he probably has a plan to jump before anyone figures it out.

You might want to wait it out... your company may have a need for you, and realize their error if he leaves them high and dry?

It might not hurt to see if another company would want your expertise for the type of position you just lost out on though? If you are qualified...throw your hat in a few rings. You do not have to take it, but it might be you are more sought out than you think?

  10. Unless European people suddenly have a reason to flee their countries, more non-European peoples will immigrate into the U.S. legally. Our country has been a melting pot for groups of people looking for a better life, to flee famine, political unrest, or evil regimes that would kill them.

Overall we need to set up a strict guest worker program, because there are jobs where migrant workers are needed. We need to know where these workers are, and where they are working. Big brother should be able to accomplish this, don't ya think?

We need to only give citizenship to babies born on US soil if the parents are U.S. citizens. We need a certificate of birth that does not grant instant access to all things U.S. citizens have worked hard to provide to take care of our own citizens.

With current technologies, it does not seem like this would be too had to implement. We have computer systems that we should know if parents are U.S. citizens with valid Social Security numbers; that should be required before we give a social security number to a child born in the U.S..

Maybe Mormons will take over the US...they seem to be the ones popping out more than 1 or 2 children! Haaa ha haaa

  11. Sounds weird but it is GOOD! (I'm a crockpot kind of girl too)

    Little smokies

    Grape jelly

    BBQ sauce

Throw it in, let it cook for a few hours...mmmmmm......mmmmmmm.....good. ^_^

You can do the same thing with meatballs.

I change up the sauce by using canned or fresh Cranberry sauce instead of Grape jelly...very nice at holidays!

  12. Never bought frozen breaded chicken patties have a brand recommendation that is really good? Must you thaw them out before cook???

    Thanks

I purchase from Costco or Sam’s what ever they have …currently: Tyson 100% natural, breaded, Chicken Breast Tenderloins…20% less breading.

Any breaded chicken would do. One recipe called for patties, my impression is patties have more fat/filler, so I don’t buy them.

You do not unfreeze them. Usual instructions are; place frozen tenderloins on a lined baking sheet and heat for 20 to 25 minutes or until product reaches an internal temp of 165 degrees. Minimal clean up…you throw out the aluminum foil! I love aluminum foil!

The parmesan recipe cooks at 350 degrees, but you place them frozen in the pan too

  13. But you know what? With the way their youth are brainwashed, she might not have thought a thing about it! In fact, she was quoted as saying something along the lines that she "thought it was ok, because she still got to sing the song, and that was enough for her." (Could be complete propaganda, of course!)

One neat thing I heard is that the Chinese govt. has received such a backlash for this that they are considering featuring Yang Peiyi in the closing ceremonies! I hope so.

    I think she's a doll!

    93d19f96-ca83-4159-919f-5fba4d3453a9.jpg

Most 7 year old teeth look awkward as they come in...that's what makes it so cute. I think she is adorable too!

I really have never liked the Chinese government...much of what is coming out just solidifies it.

I do not fault the Govt. for the fruit loop that stabbed the coach’s FIL...anytime you get a concentration of people, weird stuff can happen....look at the bomb in Atlanta on live TV. ...But the propaganda of making everything pretty for the cameras when the other 90% of the country lives in horrible conditions.

I even loved (made me sick :aggressive: ) how ALL the drummers in the opening ceremonies were male…with the same hair cut. ...Of course where will they be in 15 years when there are no women for all these only sons to marry? They will have to marry the uneducated, peasant girls that were not killed, or adopted out to other countries.

I have watched very little of the Olympics, each time I do there are more things that come up that irritate me. Was it just me, or did your skin crawl when in the opening ceremony they had the military marching as part of the program? :shok: :shok:

  14. Both of these I use when I have run out of time, or did not plan out a meal and am feeling lazy.

    Instant Chicken Parmesan

    28oz jar of spaghetti sauce

4 to 6 frozen breaded chicken patties, (or 5-7 breaded chicken breast tenderloins.)

4 to 6 slices provolone cheese (I make this when I run out of time…so I have used Colby, Cheddar, and Mozzarella what ever is in the fridge)

1 to 2 Tbl grated Parmesan cheese

Spray 13’ X 9’ baking pan with Pam. (Recipe says to put sauce in an ungreased baking pan, I use a glass one, and I always spray it?)

    Spread sauce in pan

Arrange frozen chicken patties on top

Place a slice of provolone on top of each patty

    Sprinkle each with Parmesan cheese

Bake covered at 350 degrees for 20 minutes

Uncover and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly

Serves 4 to 6…easy to double, use bigger pan

While it cooks I make up a pot of Spaghetti or Angel Hair pasta noodles.

I serve them over pasta noodles, with some garlic bread, green beans, side salad, or what ever else your family likes.

    BBQ Chicken Tender Salad

My husband and sons love this. It’s sort of a guy’s salad!

1 package of mixed salad greens

8 frozen breaded chicken breast tenderloins

Spicy BBQ sauce like Gates-original classic (at Wal-Mart), or other spicy wing sauce hot or mild your preference.

    Ranch dressing

Cook breaded tenderloins according to package directions.

Chop them up to bite size pieces, place in bowl.

Toss sauce on them while hot – enough to coat breading.

    Put salad on individual plates.

Put hot tenders on salad-serve immediately.

Let each person put on their own dressing.

  15. I use All American Repair when I have appliance problems…I have not had a fridge problem, but he has always been reasonable and given me options.

I had the transmission on my washing machine going out –loosing small amounts of oil. He gave me an estimate, said he could do it now, or if I waited until it just plane stopped he would come out and not charge the service fee when he replaced it later. He also said because of the age of the machine and expense of the transmission, I may want to purchase a new washer.

Good Luck! I hope there is a quick fix!

    PM for contact info.

ETA: I have been using him since 1999
