Pillowtex Corp. Failure Cost 7,650 Employees Their Jobs.
Vito replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Ah, the classic ad hominem liberal attack on intelligence. Since "stupid people" can't understand issues as well as you, will you please explain how one senator can affect the wages of women or any other gender? An executive has such ability, but how can a legislator? -

So does the Obama Whitehouse for which Michelle Nunn will be yet another partisan puppet. -
I understand how it would look rude if Obama were to just walk past an extended hand of greeting from any world leader, but the circumstances of this funeral, whether you like Mandela or not, was doomed to be a PR nightmare no matter who the president was. Since Mandela's story was an inspiration to the Left and Right alike in many ways you had quite the variety of world leaders in attendence from democratic to communist or worse. However, it is better to look rude to a leader such as Castro than to willingly embrace a murderous dictator directly responsible for the murder of Cubans and Am

This is a great move. The Braves will now be able to build up the surrounding area in much the same way Wrigley and Fenway did. There will be restaurants, bars, shops and hotels within walking distance of the game. No longer will you have to deal with thugs, bums and panhandlers while trying to park and walk to the stadium. Cobb PD and Cobb SO will also do a much better job at handling traffic and security. I say it's a great move all the way around.

The non-custodial parent would have to file for a custody hearing before a superior court judge and present any evidence as to why they feel the child is in an unsafe environment. It would take something substantial or they are pretty much out of luck. The 14 year old rule is a myth. When a child is 14 or older the judge will take into consideration their preference, but the choice is not automatic. With the child being 17 I doubt anything could get done in the legal process before he/she turns 18 and can make their own decision as an adult.

The jury got the verdict right. This whole situation is tragic in that a person's life was ended because of poor choices on both sides. Zimmerman is probably a want-to-be cop who was definatley over zealous in his actions. However, this verdict was made on the basis of LAW not emotion. "The law is reason free from passion." You may not agree with the law, but that is the only consideration in any case. This case higlights the overreach of politics and media into judicial affairs. The investigation was completed by qualified investigators and determined to be a tragic act of self defense.Th

Does Paulding County really need an Ampitheater?
Vito replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
While I do enjoy nice parks and clean places for my family to play, I am against this because the county is still in poor financial shape and mismanages priorities. To spend an estimated (always more) two million on yet another park that will not get the expected traffic while the county has yet to even give county employees, who have been furloughed, a standard 2.5% living increase since 2009 is absurd. We have nice parks, but ouside of White Oak where are the people? Burnt Hickory is a shining example. If memory serves correctlt the count spent 20 million on it. Since the park opened I have -
Pubby, There are so many issues that must be addressed if we are to move in the right direction. The relationship between govt, business and citizens has become strained to a point were only a massive overhaul will work. Yes there would be initial pain but I think through tax, tort and campaign finance reform the nation could get back on the right track. I am sure we will disagree on the approach but the end goal should be the same. I personally favor eliminating needless and contradictory agencies and return most of the governing to the states. States could then compete in their own

I understand your arguments, but respectfully disagree. There is excess in both govt and corporation no doubt. I am not anti-govt but favor a limited govt. Regulation is necessary for safety reasons and protection, but regulation has become the tool through which govt picks winners and losers. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that progressives and liberals are all really for fairness and protection of Main St. The Democrat party receives millions in donations from corporations the same as the Republicans. As the old saying goes "the one with the gold makes the rules." Under the current t

I think we are all looking at these scandals wrong by either blaming Dems or GOP and trying to use them to impeach Obama, which is not going to happen. I like Erick Erickson's and Sen Mike Lee's take on the issue. Obama is useless now. Any agenda he thought he was going to pass is completely dead in the water. He is now the lamest duck in presidential history. As these conservative gentlemen with actual influence, unlike those of us posting on forum boards, suggest is the a greater effort be focused on the big picture of how these scandals prove the dangers of Big Government. Even David A

I dont have a problem with tax cops doing their job, I am a cop myself, but I think the problem comes in when the reports from the IRS themselves and the Inspector General is so one sided. Right leaning groups are certainly not the only ones applying for tax exempt status. I am not so concerned over scrutiny of political groups because both parties have used the IRS on their enemies (ie Nixon) but my concern is when religious groups and individuals are targets. Reports today are that Pro-Israel groups, mormon groups and even Billy Graham of all people were audited after voicing opposition to t

If the Republicans lose the House it will be because their base does not show up due to their constant caving to Obama and passing up several opportunities to defund Obamacare. I anticipate a lot primary action, which could help or hurt. If the conservative young guns like Rubio, Cruz, Rand Paul etc and House conservatives manage these scandals properly and the media continues to actually report then Obama loses influence and the Dems have no standard bearer going into 2014 except for Hiallary who will still be tied up with Bengahzi hearings. Opportunity is there for GOP. If Dems want to w

There are so many variables and possiblities within the three main scandals (Bengahzi, IRS, AP) that anything can happen. I do not see a mostly white male Republican House attempting to impeach the first elected and reelected black president. That would only distract from the best outcome being possible. The best thing Democrats who support Hillary Clinton can do is to now pin Bengahzi and the other scandals solely at Obama's feet and the top establishment Dems, who never really liked him anyway, to start calling for Obama's resignation once the real cold hard facts come to light during specia

Postman-I agree that officers should be held to a higher standard by virtue of their office and responsibility. Whatever backlog exists, exists whether the offender was law enforcement or not. It typically takes 3-10 years to resolve most felony cases. I can say that the county in which I work LEO's are held to a higher standard by the Superior Court. I former peice of trash co-worker of mine is sitting in prison right now and that it welcomed by me. However, he recieved a much harder sentence with no prior criminal history at all simply because of his peace officer certification than others i

On a political note, I find it ironic that the people who typically bash law enforcement on this site are the same ones who vote for democrats and by virtue of that vote support big government. I have always found it odd that people who support expansion of government are the ones who bash law enforcement, especially since it is the role of law enforcement to enforce the laws, needed or not, that the government put into place.

I am a veteren police officer for a metro-area agency and understand the public's reaction to officers who do not exercise their authority properly. In fact when officers commit crimes, engage in corruption or abuse the public trust it angers me and my fellow good officers more than it enrages the public. An officer who acts stupidly gives us all a black eye and further erodes people's trust in us and in turn makes our job that much more dangerous. A bad apple should not ruin the whole bunch. In my career I have dealt with very few of these bad officers. I will say that officers are just

I say Romney wins in a close race. Im not sure about Ohio, but I think Romney will win FL, NC, VA, CO and possible PA. There is a strong GOP voter intensity on the move in PA and Romney has been running millions of dollars in Obama Anti-Coal ads, while Obama camo assumed the state was in the bag until a week go. MI has also moved to a toss up. Something interesting may happen in Minnesota. They have an unpopular gay marriage ammendment on the ballot that should bring a larger than normal evangelical vote out. I just hope we know Tuesday....

Why don't police hang out where accidents happen a lot
Vito replied to BH87's topic in RECENT TOPICS
People generally have a misconception as to what the job of LEOs really is.In a county this size with a maximun of 15 deputies patrolling at any given time their job is almost 100% reactionary. In most cases their absolutely nothing LEOs can do to "prevent" a crime or accident. If PCSO had an additional 10-15 deputies per shift more proactive measures could be used to help, but still not a lot could be done for prevention. Deputies cannot sit at intersections because they are busy answering the 65K plus calls they get in Paulding County while operating with the same number of deputies on patrol -
PCSO does not enforce county ordinances, except for the occasional loud party calls, that is the responsibility of the Marshall's Office.PCSO is charged with enforcing state laws and do not have the time or resources to worry about county ordinances. PCSO is grossly understaffed for a county this size and the call volume has increased with the poor economy. they are stretched very thin and are not allowed to fill the vacant positions because of county furloughs. Perhaps a reason for the Marshall's Office not doing their job is because they only work banker's hours. Anyone in any law enforc

I wasnt talking about the one that found her. WSB interviewed at least two others who knew absolutley nothing.

What does the house being owned by a deputy have to do with anything??? I suppose unintelligent minds might draw the conclusion that there was a cover-up. Hell my dad is a cop in TN and owns 18 rental houses. So I guess if one of his tenets falls down the stairs and dies there MUST be a cover-up!!!!!

It is entirely possible that she took off her pants and panties herself. If a person receives a bad head injury (enough to cause death in this case) it can cause the body temperature to rise dramatically and in a state of delerium a person will remove clothing to cool the body. You see this a lot when people are extremely high on drugs also. So no, falling down the stairs did not make her panties fly off. Kudos to the SO for getting this one straight. And shame on WSB for poor journalism in reported what neighbors who were not even witnesses had to say. Also by eluding that the person had

Im sure the main reason you may not be seeing patrol cars in the subdivison is because the SO has less than fifteen cars per shift (fewer in the daytime) trying to patrol a 340 square mile county. And like Pubby said the SO simply does not have the staff to patrol due to budget cuts, furloughs, etc. Due to the size of the county and increased population the SO needs alomost double the staff they currently have. Keep this in mind, Paulding and Cobb are almost equal in land size and Paulding has fifteen units per shift where Cob has well over 50. (of course Cobb's population is much higher.)

When you are a convicted felon you give up a variety of constitutional rights. And I believe they do collect DNA samples from convicted felons who are currently in prison. Their DNA is run through a database called CODIS to see if they match up to other crimes. I support the bill. It's not like they can't get your DNA if they really want it anyway. All they have to do is wait for you to flick a cigarette butt, throw your tissue in the trash (no expectation of privacy), etc.
