Cleanse and detox? 1) Eat plenty of raw organic fruits and vegetables 2) Lots of Exercise (Walking, running, biking, softball, gardening, surfing, the list is endless...) 3) Yoga (it does have healthy therapeutic effects) 4) Macrobiotics (Extremely healthy but difficult to do) 5) Enjoying life (The healthiest one of all) 6) Challenging your mind (burns more calories and improves your immune system) 7) Fasting (It's often best to stick to one healthy food when doing it... and listening to your body if you need to quit) Sleep AND Sex (Very underrated and very vi

JR, thanks for supporting our local economy. Cone, thanks for pointing out the rampant overspending. I visited the airport this afternoon thanks to this thread. JR, I'm wondering if you can answer a few questions for me. 1) How long is the runway? 2) What are some of the larger planes that can land on it? 3) Is there any thought or plans on putting private businesses inside that area. 4) Given the current recession, have county officials considered using the airport for more than one purpose? I think the way zoning is done here in Paulding is a mixed bag. From one vant

DISCLAIMER: This write-up is a J-O-K-E. Please do not mention Obama, Jimmy Carter, the National Debt, Christina Aguilera, or whoever in our city government is sleeping with who in this thread. At least not until you've read my piece. Then you can do all those things and I'll help. Dear Paulding, Call me clueless, but when I first moved to West Cobb back in 1996 I didn't even know Hiram even existed. There was no Barrett Parkway in West Cobb. Only a couple of supermarkets. A post office. A Mexican restaurant (there's always a Mexican restaurant), and about 30 or 40 Baptist churches.

The problem you have with making one big consumption tax in a cash economy is... Spend with credit/debit card: Pay 30+% more Spend with cash: Pay 30% less +++ Throw in a nice healthy discount you're likely to get with a 'cash' transaction, and the entire idea falls to pieces. The fair tax is like communism. It pretends to have noble aspirations. But in practice, it's a complete catastrophe.

I just can't believe how far downhill Clayton County has traveled within a ten year period. I'm in the Jonesboro / Mt. Zion area quite a bit. The more times I visit, the more frequently I'm realizing that I'm seeing a southern version of Detroit.
-
I was completely floored by this. Apparently there is no more public transit in Clayton County. Zero. As in absolutely not a single bus transporting folks who do not have cars. I'm sure there are some churches helping out... but wow. In other news, LA is considering a three day workweek to cut the cost of basic services. It looks like a few of the dominos are already starting to fall.

Yeah, I know... (rolls his eyes) It's also not even remotely capable of balancing our budget and will pretty much make the black market explode (not to mention dramatically increase unemployment and the dollar's devaluation). If you want to put a flat tax into action you have to do at least three other things. 1) No ceiling on Social Security tax. Make it a true flat tax. 2) Institute a substantial estate tax after the $2 million mark. Sorry, but I don't want the United States to become a banana republic where 80+% of the wealth is concentrated to 1% of the population. A fello

Sure, go ahead and do a flat tax... Just balance the budget while you do it. Also make sure Social Security is properly funded and don't gripe when your 'flat tax' is 35%. While you're at it, don't ask China, Japan, and our so-called 'Middle Eastern partners' to subsidize our standard of living anymore. They didn't create this business. But they're making a helluva lot of money off of our bad decisions. If we want to be self-reliant, we need to stop going to the credit pushers... at all levels. That includes credit card companies (MBA's selling the illusion of wealth to indebt

I think the problems are this... 1) Spring Break should be a COLLEGE thing. Since when the hell do high school kids go for spring break? 2) One of the PITA issues I had to deal with is being a glorified chaperone for some of the freshmen (and a few sophomores) who just thought they could drink, smoke, and puke their guts out while enjoying the looser members of the opposite sex. Most of the members of our group just took things in moderation (for the most part) but it's always the judgment impaired idiot who can ruin the entire evening. 3) You never want to be AT Daytona Beach, Ft.

162,000 jobs... Well either you can blame Bill Clinton... or you can credit Bill Clinton. Wait a sec. Both sides of the aisle used those excuses last decade. How about this? It's Barack's fault for not hiring millions of unemployed people. It's Barack who gave us the 'light at the end of the tunnel'. Too simple? Too political? Naaahhh!!! I just think too many of you look at politicians (and their rhetoric) as the elixir of all ills. To be frank, you're looking at the wrong side of the ledger. What should you look at??? Family, kids, friends, communi

If it wasn't divulged in the bill of sale or any other documents (excluding title) she can sue them in court... and will most likely win.

Do Georgia city governments actually offer a referendum on incorporation every year? I seriously doubt it. If they don't, that should be a law. As for combining counties, I am absolutely for that as well as regulating the incorporation of cities to a specific minimal population (25,000 perhaps). What says you?
-
What does that have to do with it? If you want to have 'diversity', consider hobbies or pot luck dinners. Since when do 250+ governments contribute to a state's diversity? Diversity in what? Taxation? Skin pigmentation? Graft? Nickelshnit Pawn Shops that serve as Purchasing Departments for the local Bubbas and Bubbettes)? Ahhhhh.... ok. But you are talking about something that happened well over 140 years ago. Back then baseball wasn't a sport. Cars, light bulbs, and ZZ Top weren't even around yet. Neither was indoor plumbing or Cable TV. The world has changed. Georgia (or a

Georgia also has over 100 city governments. http://www.statelocalgov.net/state-ga.cfm
-
Do Georgians need so many city and county governments? I was shocked to find Georgia is actually second in the entire country in the number of city and county governments (200+).That's more than anyone with the sole exception of Texas. More than California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and pretty much any other state with a substantial population. For all I know it may be the second most out of any state or province in the entire Western Hemisphere. Isn't this supposed to be a 'conservative' state as it applies to government reach and involvement? If so, why does Georgia have so muc

It goes to pay off your dog's share of the national debt.

"So are you saying it was the non-union workers that are responsible for the Toyota debacle?? Management had nothing to do with it?? " Never said it. Wouldn't think it. However I wrote this article just a few days before the Toyota debacle became news. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/hammer-time-the-toyota-reality/ "I disagree about GM and Chrysler, higher wages across the board have driven the price up for both vehicles. The last Chrysler I owned was a piece of junk. The car was beautiful, I'll give you that but when the ac vents disintegrate when they are touched, the hood

You're right. With the work I have today, I'm pretty much all bummed out
-
On a historical basis... they have. GM has employed more folks than any other company on Earth. Chrysler took a loan that they never ended up using, and has employed hundreds of thousands of people over the course of it's history. In both cases it was management that ended up destroying the companies. Rick Waggoner was even compelled by GM's Board of Directors to take the necessary steps, and he refused. Feel free to reference the union strike that killed both companies. I'll give you a hint. It never happened. Wonder why?

I take it that's why Toyota has been such a failure.

Lots to do, you finally hit the nail on the head. It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with culture, expectations and a general sense of decency. What Dr. Cosby said is true. But it's not just a black thing. Every place from Polk County, Georgia (where the teenage pregnancy rate was the highest in the country during the 1980's, in an overwhelmingly white county), to the 'Aryan' Octomom with 14 kids is part of this 'leeching' problem. The problem is... a culture that glorifies stupid people and encourages young people to pursue theft and debt. That's what we have t

What does that have to do with being an 'Aryan' or 'German-American'? Have you taken a look at the unemployment rates in Germany and most of Western Europe lately? Heck, take a look at the mostly white Midwest. How do they currently compare with the non-Aryans of Japan, Singapore and South Korea? Is 'race' the difference? Or is it opportunity? I have two brothers. One makes the seven figures. The other is a 'leech; who I'll have to help out because of an illness. Did 'race' or 'heritage' have any hand in their current positions? How about the first girl I ever asked out?
