  1. Corrupt and Politican tend to be synonymous to me, regardless of the party.

I'm with ya all the way on that^^

Want to know who really runs the country and decides elections? Make a concerted effort to have Congress subject to the same term limits as the president ... I suspect as individual voters it would become clear that we have far less influence over who actually holds office than we'd like to believe.

  2. I am so sorry to learn of this young man's death. I didn't know him personally but his aunt was a close neighbor for many years and both she and his mom were classmates and friends of mine & my sister's when we were kids. They are clearly and understandably devastated.

Kathy and Myra, love and deepest sympathy to you and your family.

  3. I understand what you are saying but you also have to think about:

    1. How much in extra gas in a year is it costing us the tax payers.

    2. Libaity... if something should happen( wreck..etc.) with the child in the car is the State, City, County going to have to pay?

    3. If the purpose of the officer taking the car home is that if needed they can and will be able to get to an emergency ASAP then if the office has a child in th car and gets a call I guess that sort of throws that out the window unless they are going to respond and take the child with them....maybe on a high speed chase?

    4. Does the insurance even cover this.

    ^^All valid points.

  4. Full Title: An Act to incorporate the town of Braswell, in the county of Paulding, to define the corporate limits of said town, to provide for the election of a mayor and aldermen for the government thereof, and for other purposes.

  5. Interesting, I know Charlie Watts and his family well. His grandsons attended High School with my son. They were all in band together. In fact the oldest and my son both played trumpet. Band families tend to be very close to each other. ;)

As do many of us who have lived here our entire lives, those of us who do business with his family's business, anyone who has been actively involved in politics in the county for many years, etc.

As for the rest of your post it seems to be an attempt to say something without really saying it...?

And once again I ask, did Paulette not admit and then attempt to excuse/justify her actions? Admission that you committed an act doesn't constitute guilt any longer?

Or maybe it's the lack of shame and remorse that's really the issue here.

  6. Yep, the law of unintended consequences is working.

I am now voting for Deal instead of Monds solely

because of this disgusting and dishonest attack...

Every time I read statements similar to this I have to wonder why we don't open voting to any child who is tall enough to reach and able to read the ballot,

    Same mentality.

  7. Maybe you missed this then. http://savannahnow.c...-he-didnt-own-0

or this accusation about cases tried before judges he appointed: http://chronicle.aug...rm?v=1286432085

I don't know how many of these accusations are true but I doubt you can be 100% sure about those against Deal either.

Uh, most, if not all of the reasons I won't vote for Deal are not accusations but known facts, many of which he has admitted to and then attempted to excuse away.

  8. The newspaper said it was an accountant who had "volunteered" for Deal's campaign that had been scrutinizing Barnes's returns and found the error - personally I think Deal should probably have this volunteer go over his own finances to see what else he may have 'forgotten' to disclose.

Insurance fraud is a crime, period, and not really something one can do 'by mistake'.

  9. I will take unpopular leadership style and abrasiveness and even a governor who has the audacity to LIE about his intentions regarding the state flag over blatant corruption (or even the appearance of) any day of the week.

  10. Sonny Perdue did not win re-election based on his stellar job performance.

And in case we forget, he's another party-switcher who hasn't exactly set the standard for ethical behavior in office.

Anyone living here and paying attention at the time knows exactly what sent Perdue to the governor's mansion.

Everything King Roy did has gone by the wayside in an attempt to get him back in that seat

What did he do that was so awful we've collectively blocked it from memory?

All things considered, I think I'd still prefer my ex to a thief if I had to make that choice.

  11. I would be happy if they showed me a need for the increase, instead of passing it without a corresponding budget discussion. The budget for 10-11 was passed with a known revenue stream based on last falls collections. This was a move to protect the faithful from the wrath of the voters. We're not the ones being disingenuous, the BOC is.

And in the overall scheme of things, yes I would much rather have my net worth considerable more than it is now, and my real assets far more liquid. I would expect that most would also. In fact, only an idiot wouldn't.

In an more realistic world, that being one in which the budget of the county isn't completely balanced on the backs of the middle class homeowners, we probably wouldn't even need this discussion.

Yeah that's how some of us feel about income tax, also.
