National vs. local politics apparently is a meme on pcom. First, paulding.com has always featured limits on speech. Moderation has been lighter than many want and heavier than others want but given the protections offered by section 230c of the DMCA, pcom has always asserted its right to moderate. The new board took the user name and display name fields from the old board and, when told we had to choose only one for the upgrade, I chose for people to keep their signon name. The display name is no longer an option. Actually, the biggest part of the joke is that the new board, unlike the old, doesn't allow two-character passwords ... LIKE "ON" Because I have an admin rank I've never had to deal with them so I was able to get in the forum without a problem. I was wondering what happened with everyone else. Then, I saw cape's post about the password and having to change it because of the new board nixing short passwords and I asked, well, what is it. I think that is one of the conundrums we're dealing with ... where partisanship ends and hate begins. If we see a toggle that lets the site do that 'again' - I was pretty reliant on it myself - we'll enable it. What you folks don't know is that the control panel for this version of the board is so overwhelmingly different that I'm glad I'm not the dude in charge. the site is still officially offline. We have some dns issues to clear up before the upgrade. The only real question we've been asked to answer is the newer version eliminated 'display name' opting to simply to signon name. The current board allowed members to have a different display name. When we upgrade, the site will give us the choice of which name to use ... I would opt for using the signon name as most people used it for their display name.
