You do know that Newt is a Republican ... and since you showed your reading comprehension was faulty, I'll just repeat the original post in larger point type. Finally, in regard to the opening graph ... you do know the Dominionists are serious about a coup even if you aren't. BTW: I think the plan is to point fingers, say those who bring it up are wacko and always, deny, deny, deny until it is too late. Now I'm not saying they will be successful but they've been working toward this goal for more years than I've been alive and this is the closest they've come. They are, as Elwoo

The thing that you fail to remember is that the GOP is not the GOP of history but has been infiltrated by a host of folks who are extreme fundamentalists - as in religious fundamentalists. I know that our institutions are under attack as the approval ratings for everything from the congress to the press to higher education, public education, foreign affairs, law enforcement and even the military have dropped ... some more than others but some quite dramatically. We are then testing the weakened institutions with religious fundamentalism tied to political involvement that I've been fol

The Donald I'm sure feels the same low ... If I recall, he violated the embargo years ago trying to get a leg up so he could build a casino in Havana so he could take your money that way. See, he's like Nagen ... it really is his money, you just haven't given it to him yet ... but I'm kind of betting that with his new gig and the possibilities that opens up, it won't be long pubby

This should actually be its own topic as it deals with the most serious of foreign policy issues. If you start that topic, I'll respond. pubby

How did you get a masters degree zorro when your reading comprehension is so questionable. BTW: If you look at the original post above, you'd see two things: 1. the discussion was about Benghazi which is a city in Libya. 2. You said it was Al Qaeda that was in Libya and mrshoward said Benghazi was an Iranian operation. For the record, you are correct - it was a Sunni-based wahabist cult spun off from Al Qaeda that was responsible ... but who told mrshoward and why did she repeat the error in identifying the Iranians as the perps. I suspect that mrshoward is either intenti

for the record, you two are in total disagreement on this. Al Qaeda is Sunni Islam and Iranian terrorists are from the Shiite brand of Islam ... and never the twain shall meet. pubby

If you know folks who have to do some public service as part of a fine or something, they can get hours working for disabled and elderly folks. pubby

They didn't know what had happened exactly, they thought one thing, said it and like Donald Trump, with his multitude of lies, doubled down again and again. pubby

there is a difference between lying and just being wrong and trying to cover up that you didn't know what you were talking about. pubby

The whole point of the article and the general takeaway is that we all, to one degree or another, suffer from the concept called "confirmation bias" ... i.e. we tend to unquestionably accept those things that reinforce our opinions. It is the unquestionable aspect that was highlighted in this article from a guy that wrote a bunch of the fake news pieces that appeared on facebook. The writer, who makes over $120,000 yr writing fake news for click bait ... said: I think the thing you're missing smokediver, is that being misinformed is worse than being uninformed. If you are uninf

This story was about the impact of the newsfeed on facebook and how it feeds specific attitudes and keeps people in a bubble. All I can really say about that from my perspective is I and taking an online training course on social media - facebook, twitter, snapchat, etc. - and I discovered I had never set up my newsfeed. I guess seeing - this was several years ago - some female hygiene product following me around not just on facebook but elsewhere because my daughter checked something ... creeped me out so much I just avoid, as best I can, those kinds of sites. this came from one of t

When you have eight or more homes, if you have the least amount of empathy, you have a choice. You can situate yourself in the one that disrupts 500,000 people who didn't vote for you daily, costs you business tenants big bucks and is physically impossible to protect or you can choose on that is disrupts fewer of the people (including more who did vote for you), doesn't cost your big tenants or neighbors big bucks because there are concrete abutments and garbage trucks parked in front of their business and is easier and cheaper for the taxpayer who is no obligated to protect you. So yes,

How We Broke Democracy Our technology has changed this election, and is now undermining our ability to empathize with each other style="max-width: 1020px; max-height: 505px;"> class="graf-image" data-image-id="1*-WHyYHRQYn7x0m5-Sv4TXQ.jpeg" data-width="2000" data-height="990" data-action="zoom" data-action-value="1*-WHyYHRQYn7x0m5-Sv4TXQ.jpeg" src="https://d262ilb51hltx0.cloudfront.net/max/1200/1*-WHyYHRQYn7x0m5-Sv4TXQ.jpeg" height="253" width="512"> The thing that has become the most clear to us this election year is that we don’

911 calls were harder to make ... ambulances were stuck in traffic ... what happened, are you sure Chris Christi didn't close another bridge for a traffic study ...... Oh wait, this was Portland Oregon. You know I've never been to Portland. I am not excusing it but I do know there are as many, if not more, people and businesses having their lives totally disrupted because of Donald Trump's insistence that he remain in his penthouse atop the Trump Tower. As far as disruption, that is greater than a small protest ... especially when you add in when Donald Trump wants to eat a steak and the

Most times. Much of the protest comes, I believe, because the stated plans of the Trump administration is to throw all the regulations and success regarding global warming out the window and go full speed ahead to destroy the environment so a few rich oil and coal men can make big bucks. It is their future that they feel has been stolen by greedy old farts. Their is certainly some truth to their concern. before the election I mentioned the notion that many of those voting for trump were of the religious point of view that it is time for the second coming and they think if the world expl

She was apparently in hospice care. I saw a bit she did this past summer (July 2016) with Samantha Bee about her full frontal show. It was a bit of surprise but it was obviously something that she knew was coming (apparently some rare form of cancer.) I think you'd have had more response had your title (headline) been more specific. I'll add something that will help. pubby

The plain fact is that trump won using the rules - the rigged rules which are rigged in favor of rural states and voters - and he is our president. What we need to do is give the guy a chance as he likely is not as bad as his VP. Indeed, I have to give trump kudoos on his choice of VP because Pence, while he has some Washington experience, is among the most regressive and intolerant of the Republicans. Hell, he was headed for near certain defeat in his quest for re-election in Indiana because of his neanderthal attitudes. The point being is that Trump, despite all his blather, is proba
