Commission votes 4-1 to fire Talley, Richardson and Cable law firm
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
I had a doctors appointment and missed the meeting. I hope to review the video of the meeting tomorrow morning. I'll give my own eyes an opportunity to see who is shooting the straightest. Obviously, I was passing along what I was told by someone with greater credibility. Judging from what I saw in the afternoon meeting - I mean tundra - was Todd not calling the Chairman a liar from the first time he insisted that he second the motion? I mean I was embarrassed just sitting there. If I were Carmichael I'd have told Todd that he gets one or the other. If you insist that I second the m -
Commission votes 4-1 to fire Talley, Richardson and Cable law firm

+The board of commissioners by a vote of 4-1 - The Chairman being the one - actually fired the law firm. The commission then hired the lawyers who was the representative of the law firm (Lani Skipper) to be the interim county attorney. It is not determined at this point if Ms. Skipper will become an employee of the county, which would entail having to hire a staff for the 'legal department' or whether she will instead counsel the county to develop a contract between her (presumably soon to appear) law firm/partnership/LLC and the county. The above approach, which does not seem to be -

Commission votes 4-1 to fire Talley, Richardson and Cable law firm
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
As I understand it, the law firm had recused themselves from this 'deal' and that another Atlanta attorney that was independent of both the county commission and airport authority - possibly representing the FAA which has some interest in the property at the airport having funded the majority of the construction, was the authority who was operating under the purview of the court. In other words, the Talley, Richardson and Cable only involvement in the transaction cited in their firing was they provided a conference room for the closing ... the principals didn't even attend the meeting. -
46 US Attorneys Asked to Resign or be Fired
gpatt0n replied to doc310's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I think that Preet Bharara had been invited to trump tower during the transition and had been asked to stay on after the change. The reading by some was that this was an effort by Trump to show Sen. Chuck Shumer that he was interested in playing. Shumer, as we all know, has been somewhat dismissive of the Trump administration and, also, as we all know (even Republicans who pay even the slightest attention) Trump lies. So, he promised to keep him on, he fires him, is just another lie. The one thing I will note is that Obama's administration had eight years with out a governmental scanda -

One was a teen and one was a 20 year old. There were several words that I could have used. One was "Men," one was teen and young adult, another was adult to reference both (but it would be absurd to reference these two as adults - or men - as their behavior was not 'adult' or manlike.) and the final one was youth; which I have documented doesn't preclude one being age 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, or 23. I chose youth over young adult because it was fewer words and letters. The use of the word youth in a news story has no - absolutely no - legal importance as the law, arbitrary as it is, establis -
Paulding.com has been impacted by discussions that have been both entertaining and, in other ways destructive to conversation in general. The above TED Talk from one of the members of the family that is Westboro Baptist; that most polarized and polarizing quasi-religious outfit around walked back from that extreme position to one that is, well, not damning of everyone not them. In terms of polarization, she was out there dangling by threads off the deep end. And yet she came back to a position that is infinitely more tolerant of others. Anyway, I watched it and found it relevant to the

Okay, I get it, you're all for airplanes and wealthy corporate jets, it is just people - commercial airline passengers - you hate. So the county was transferring land at the airport to the airport authority which kind of makes sense ... unless you're the county and you don't want the airport authority to have an asset it can use to do something that you might not like; you know, like exist. I don't know the whole story but since they were so quiet about it in the meeting - the discussion of public business was not apparent if this is the rub - I just find that I don't trust Tod -

I guess we have our avoidance of the local razorwire hotel in common. My family life was a bit different; my mother was a Republican in the South in the 1960s while my father was a Democrat and both were in the health care industry; meaning basically they cared for people. Now I also grew up in the era of school paddling and earned some swats some of which were deserved and others not.) Those that were deserved were reinforced at home and those that weren't were not. Maybe that is where I got my sense of justice and my understanding of its immense imperfection in implementation. -

Mojo: Since you think that paying fines and doing community service is such a wonderful way of life, when is the last time you committed a crime so you would have that heart-warming experience? Punishment that is harsh often backfires as it so weakens the character of the person receiving it, that they become broken and incapable of living anything but a life of crime. Justice systems that temper punishment with mercy and understanding end up with fewer incorrigibles, smaller prisons populations, less overall crime and the need for less tax money to fund it. pubby -
It is a mess. I saw what looked like a small piece of road machinery ... like something used to dig up a section of roadway so it can be re-filled with asphalt as I was coming from Dallas south. I didn't see any specific construction being done, though. I'm figuring roadwork though as the popo's, while present, didn't appear to be out in force. (Although, I suppose they could be over the hill both ways and not visible to the diverted traffic.) Bottom line I think we had something like maybe a sink hole in the road instead of an accident ... maybe a portion of the road was weakened

Got ya: Where I found my deal was on the auction site 'hubzu.com" An example here is this 3/2 house on a half-acre lot with an opening bid of $55,000. The key here is know what you want, wait until you find it and then 'act' as the time a house might come on this marketplace until it is sold is maybe two weeks. You need the flexibility to act quickly. Put your cash in a no penalty money market account instead of a CD if you're going to pay cash. Obviously, timing plays a role as well. The real estate market is always in its strongest period in the spring and early summer. Homes t

PCSO Two youths and a juvenile charged in car-bashing spree

You are confusing youth with adolescence ... Hell, if they were under age 18, it would be problematic - I might get my butt sued - to publish their names. No one was disputing that the two older kids would be charged as adults and for that matter, the 16 year old could be charged as an adult as well. Youth is not a legal definition, it is what I've asserted; a general description of age between adolescence and full maturity ... i.e. aged between 18-22,23,24 or possibly 25 ... I usually reserve the use of the word 'youth' in this context to those aged 21 and under ... but the older age only w -

Obviously, it has been decades since you read the definition of youth in any dictionary. While dictionaries don't typically state ages - the numeric age that defines youth is too arbitrary - they speak of the time between adolescence and maturity; which varies for most folks. Maturity usually comes at about age 25 ... i.e. when most reasonable folks start settling down. Of course there are some cultures where a girl becomes a woman and is married off at age 12. In that world, I guess one might think the age of 18 is fully grown up. However, the high divorce rate of those who marry in t -

from the other topic: PS: As far as referring to the alleged as the alleged perpetrator or suspect or, if they have a record, criminal ... I've been doing that for literally 40 years and nobody said anything. It is bullcheeze to call a person a man because they turn 18 as that is arbitrary as hell. In fact, for many years as I was growing up, the age of majority - when you can vote - was 21. I can't get no satisfaction ... and he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke, the same cigarette as me - I can't get no ... no, no, no. pubby PS: Or am I to understand you folks -

And the youths are charged with crimes as adults. That is not the issue. I mean, what do you people want me to do in objective news columns... write that the people arrested who are under age 25 were the seed of Satan? or if they're over 25, Satan himself? The point is if you are describing a youth under 18, that is a juvenile ...(See the story posted today). We don't name them nor do we publish their picture as a general rule. The use of the word youth is descriptive to the reader because it establishes that the person who committed the crime is a young person whose brain, by all a -

Youth is an amorphous term generally considered the time between one leaves the age of compulsory education and obtaining their first job. I sincerely doubt these individuals were gainfully employed or else they wouldn't be pulling such numskull crap. For verification of that fact: These youths were aged 19 and 20. That link goes on to say: Even our government (CDC) cites age 24 as being youthful in its definition of youthful violence: Hell, I've known 30 year old people who acted in immature ways and since 'youth' is broadly defined as the period between adolesce -

Great: You don't mention anything about land or lot size. Does your friend have any preference? The location of interest would also seem to include north west Paulding to the exclusion of SW and eastern portions of the county. Are there any must have's ... like CATV or natural gas. Some properties, even in areas well served, may have problems getting these kinds of services. I know that CATV (especially internet) was critical for me and I also wanted a property that was well off the road providing privacy ... I also wanted some acreage and I definitely didn't want to be in a
