Who is she??? Georgia's Sally Yates fired by Trump as acting AG

Well, first off, stonewall; women are not a minority. Obviously, if you are a nine-year old born in America citizen that was born to a pair of undocumented parents. To wit if that is your story you could be deprived of the love, comfort and protection of your mother and dad ... as well as being deprived the money that would be spent seeking to keep your parents in the country. Are the sins of the parents supposed to be visited upon the children? pubby -

I'm sure the proposal polls quite highly amongst our nation's deplorables Hell, DJT got the nomination from the HMWHC pubby PS: I believe it is now the law in Russia and we know how highly Putin is polling here amongst those on the right. -

And who are you to care if he tramples the constitution and his oath in the process ... It is all about getting those pantywaists and putting them in their place like a real man. Hell, maybe he can get the rest of the GOP to go along with legalizing beating up wives again; like it was when America was great ... you know like Putin is doing in Russia. pubby -
I would posit, for the purpose of argument, that there is a difference between a bully, a blowhard bully and the president of the United States. Indeed, I would argue that with the possible exception of Mr. Trump, the three have never before been descriptive of the same person. pubby

In private businesses most bosses are by definition dictators in their realm. This is Donald Trumps background and clinging to his notion of how authority is exercised is not going to serve him well Dictatorial authority is not the way things work with the office of president under the constitution. That basic misunderstanding is the root of all the problems that this man will have in his monumental fumbling efforts to execute his duty while remaining true to his oath of office. That is why Sally Q. Yates, who was true to the oath of office she made, is celebrated. pubby -

I think that former acting AG of the United States - acting for the United States - gave her unbiased legal opinion on the poorly drafted executive order just as she promised then Senator Jeff Sessions she would when she was being confirmed for the post. pubby PS: I might add that there were questions among the Senators asked to confirm Jeff Sessions appointment as AG that he would have the same degree of integrity. -

What we have here is a failure to communicate: Basically, Steve Bannon is running these things through literally 'on his own' without any vetting by established institutions. This is a prescription for disaster and chaos. From Foreign Policy Magazine: An unelected white nationalist cannot be allowed to run the most powerful nation on the face of the earth shooting from the hip. That is what is happening. Trump allowing this, is complicit. We have no idea of his motives but we can deduce that what he is doing is his best to create chaos; chaos that will play into the -

Sally Yates, acting AG, was fired by President Donald Trump because she refused to defend what many believe is an unconstitutional executive order. Ms. Yates, who served as an assistant AG in Georgia beginning in 1989, is a career attorney with the US Dept. of Justice who was promoted to the number two spot by Obama. Here is her biography: The firing came some three hours after Ms. Yates stated her legal opinion on the presidential order regarding the banning the immigration of individuals from specific countries. Here is a report on the firing from USA Today: I j -
What bothers me more is that the Chairman of the joint chiefs and the Director of National Intelligence, who are permanent members of the NSC by law, were uninvited from meetings. What this tells me is that Bannon (and by extension Trump) don't trust these individuals with the shenanigans they plan to pull. After all, those two individuals are representatives of two of the more power arms of the establishment and you don't want them in the room where you plan on destroying them; you know. pubby

Fact checkers say about 75 percent of what Donald Trump says is wrong, inaccurate or false so I would never ever take his medical advice. Fact is, if you are a journalist and ask him such a question, you are the dumbest journalist on the face of the earth. pubby

We need to move on and fix our nation's problems....
gpatt0n replied to csk219's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It would be nice if fixing anything was the goal of the Trump government. However, the populist movement has as its goal, the destruction of the government according to key strategist for DJT, Steve Bannon. Here is the lead of an article about Bannon in the New Yorker. Think for a moment if the screw ups, from the taking of the call from Taiwan's president to the clustertruck over the wall over Mexico to the statements of support for criminal behavior by the President in advocating the use of torture and the theft of Iraq's oil wealth - even the extreme pettiness over the count o -

strange headlines from raw story strike me as sad
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Wild side of the news
Actually, while Rawstory does have a definite lean leftward, the factual content is generally well sourced. For instance, the bit on Kanye West not being asked to play came from newsweek and the bit on Lewis Black suggesting that musicians died to avoid playing at Trump's inauguration simply highlighted a comedy bit on the Daily Show. I've seen some bits from alternet but as often as not they're just highlighting exchanges on cable news between pundits. They may include an onion piece - usually designed to show the gullibility of some ignorant individual like Kim Jung Il of N. Korea who -

Crimes against Children unit seeks info on possible predator On January 14, 2017 the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Keith Denmon (W/M 48 YOA) for electronically communicating sexually explicit material. Denmon was charged with one count of (OCGA 16-12-100.2) computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation prevention when he communicated sexually explicit material with an undercover officer whom he believed was a 14 year old girl. This investigation was conducted by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office with the coopera -
What is founded are expectations regarding ethics in government that suggest that elected officials are aware of not only actual conflicts of interest but also even the appearance of conflict of interest. This is well established expectation in state and local government and is part of the training that all new city councilmen, county commissioners, etc. experience. If Mr. Price were operating with an ethical mindset, he would have directed his investment advisors to avoid investments in the entire medical field because of the 'potential' for the appearance of an ethical conflict of inter

For the record, CNN's fake news story was based on the questions that Rep. Price was asked during his hearing as secy of HHS. Hence, if the questions raised in this congressional hearing were 'fake news' ... then can we presume that other questions raised in congressional hearings are 'fake news' ... you know; like the swirly do-do stuff called benghazi? You know mshoward, your commentary can all be distilled down to the notion that you're right wing and because you're right wing, you're right and that makes you right, right? pubby
