Campaign 2014 Local Democrats enthused and working for November victory
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Accepting that notion as fact - which you seem to accept unquestioningly - more or less justifies Adolf and his final solution ... as well as most efforts at ethnic cleansing. Fact is, the divide is often ideological in nature and since those who are driven by ideology spurn compromise and feel deal-making is abandonment of principal, the acceptance of ideology as a guide tends toward the extreme, including the nascent justification that it is okay to kill someone if that is the only way to get them to agree with you. And let me assure you Markdavd, that description of ideologues enco- 65 replies

Georgia is having its annual sales tax holiday today and tomorrow and a variety of goods primarily in the realm of school supplies and clothing are exempt from sales tax. Here is a specific list of some of the things that are exempt and those that are not: pubby 2014 Sales Tax Holiday Back to School >

I thought I mentioned the 'terror' aspect of Sherman's march to sea in the discussion but you're also right in regard to the Marshall Plan and its generosity to the defeated Axis powers. What, of course, justifies that generosity was not the actions of the Axis powers in WWII but the fact that WWII happened as a result of the 'conservative' eye-for-an-eye settlement in the wake of WWI which despite its punitive measures, created the circumstances of hate and instability that led to WWII in Europe. So, in retrospect, because we were magnanimous in our response to the Germans and Japanese- 65 replies

I don't know, TP seemed pretty doggone clear to me ... and far from moronic. Wonder where you got that word? Maybe it comes to you every time you look in a mirror. I take that back, you'd never think that ... too many syllables. pubby -

Yes, WWII ended in a terroristic blast; actually two terroristic blasts that killed, in an instant, several hundred thousand civilians and wreaked havoc on the cities on which the bomb fell. (In defense of the use of the word terroristic in regard to the atomic bomb - the sheer magnitude of an atomic bomb blast instills terror in your enemy and is one of the primary reasons that the A-Bomb attacks were successful in bringing Pacific theater of WWII to a rapid end. Indeed, the terror of expanding the war to include bombing of cities began with the German's tactics in the Battle of Britain and- 65 replies

It is a war and has been for decades and could well be for centuries. The belief that you can bludgeon people into submission is a myth ... you may be able to kill all who oppose you but an army's defeat in a war and submission of a people to second-class citizenship are two different things. I would wager if you were a Palestinian you would be armed and dangerous. pubby- 65 replies

How do you feel about the recent incident on the trail
gpatt0n replied to 1novella's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not being terribly supportive of the queue and security checks at the courthouse - need to pay your tag and taxes, hummm, take off your belt and empty your pockets ... is not to me a wunnerful thing .... but that courthouse contingent comes from the County Marshall's office whereas the security on the Silver Comet Trail, if memory serves, is primarily a SO responsibility. pubby -
My dear, that is when conversing with you, I can't help but think in terms of partisan hackery - you being the personification of such. pubby

They would have to have some sort of ' probable cause' to subpoena the records. None of the allegations asserted there was ever a bribe or other illegal payment made to any individual and there is and was absolutely no proof of such. Further, none of the court cases even sought to make allegations of personal gain for any of the individuals. Given that, there is no basis whatsoever for asking for personal records of the individuals and no court of original jurisdiction in Paulding would even consider granting a subpoena or warrant for those personal records and documents. However, peopl

Yea, and we sure can't tax those making the big bucks either? Heck, they're getting the breaks because they're job creators right? Goodness gracious you're not suggesting removing a tax break, are you. I think Grover Norquest, if you signed his pledge, would come after you for even suggesting that tax loopholes be removed. I know he has threatened such for those who whispered they might do something with the subsidies (tax breaks/corporate welfare) targeted toward the oil and gas industry. Oh, I forgot. The movie business is better than 50 percent liberal so taxing them is okay p

The problem is obvious zorro ... which makes it kind of like a person with withered legs and a cocked eye in a wheelchair. The reaction most civilized people have to such spectacles is to minimize and marginalize the aberrant behavior - not make it and ridicule of the person and the lifestyle the center of attention even if it is a diatribe against the obviously flawed values. So, among normal folks, the very act of pointing it out as behavior for ridicule is rude and such behavior is boorish. I note that CC and LPPT did offer a solution ... but other than letting them and their chil -
Actually, it is more horror inspiring - blood coming from the nose, mouth, eyes, anus, etc. - than painful. I say that because when I had that incident with internal bleeding two years ago in regard to a colonoscopy - it put me in the hospital for like three or four days - there wasn't really any pain when I started getting faint ... and hey, the colors were really weird. As far as ebola... it was here thirty years ago in Reston Va. Killed a lot of monkeys but there was a slight mutation of the virus here and while it made some folks ill, it wasn't devastating to humans. Read about

I see your concerns and mine coinciding on this issue ... the confluence coming from the fact we both know that this failure is in at least part a failure of our educational system. That failure, especially when it comes to the dropping of multiple babies, comes at least in part from parents whose sensibilities are such that they insist only on abstention as the form of birth control of anyone who isn't married. I dare say we'd both agree that education, or more specifically the lack thereof, is mostly responsible for the irresponsible behaviors. pubby -

Actually, we do require a driving test to get a license, observe those who do poorly, revoke the license of those who really don't learn from their early mistakes and ultimately put them in jail if they don't get the message even without injuring or killing someone. We don't have any kind of test - I'm not sure they even require you be warm - to buy a gun ... just have an ID and not be on a list of criminals or lunatics (well sort of, some of the time depending on how you get your gun.) pubby -
BOC meeting Commission meeting recessed at noon ...

I agree and part of what perturbed me was that I didn't get those folks on camera either. I watched them on Roy's video, obviously. I don't think, however, that the county was obligated to capture all the comments in the public hearing. They record their actual meetings. Finally, again, feel free to post Roy's videos ... I don't think it has stopped you in the past and I won't stop you now (never have.) pubby -
What I know lisaC is that with money comes power and power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. You are probably right ... but there is also the possibility that you are just naive. And again, you may be right but I know that 'stranger things have happened.' pubby

I appreciate your comment but if all those in high office were as pure as the driven snow, I don't think Bernie Madoff or Ken Lay or - horrors of horrors - Attorney Generals like John Mitchell (The first USAG to be indicted of a crime while in office) or ... I know and again, appreciate that you have a high opinion of the morals and integrity of your bosses ... but history proves that perfection eludes us all and, really, all it takes is one man making one mistake to splatter and ruin the reputations of a whole bunch of people. Or maybe, I should just recall Mark Antony's speech statin

Further, if it was a deliberate attack - even if it was by a stranger paid to do so and who may have left her for dead - it is not likely that someone stalking a victim in that situation, would be deterred by their target being armed. They would just wait until a more opportune time to effect their mayhem. pubby

That all three of those folks were hacked or had computers stolen is a bit of a coincidence. I think folks like Tundra, KV, mojo and the like feel that they are being suspected for this kind of activity but remember that the real 'powers' being squeezed by this are those folks with the multi-national corporations that, all too often, have their 'plumbers units' (reference to Nixon and Watergate) who operate in the shadows with plausible deniability. I think what this 'coincidence' suggests is that, somewhere in the darkness that is corporate American, there may be folks who do illega

What we know is there was no robbery or rape and that the woman cannot describe attacker? Most stranger-based crimes against a person involve those motives. That begs the question whether the victim is actually afraid to name the attacker. Just a thought. pubby
