  1. Orrby --- Thank you SOOOO much. I just felt like I was close to all the ingredients, but I forgot --- butter ----. I watched her make it many, many times, but just knowing that pie was in 'good hands' I never paid too much attention to exact ingredients and I would eventually experimented until I gave up and trashed it all, but I think you saved the day!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!
  2. Does anybody have a sweet potato pie recipe that does not have eggs? My mother made the BEST potato pies ever and they did not include eggs and I was not smart enough to write down her ingredients and so now that she's gone, I want a pie like she made. I've looked on the internet and through all my cook books and may have missed one that didn't have eggs, but so far nothing. I will be going out for a while but will check back a little later to see if anybody has a good ol' Paulding County sweet potato pie recipe they will share. Thanks!!!
  3. I don't post often, but I do pray for everyone who requests prayers and this one especially this morning. I am so glad she came through okay and for some reason, I have the "Nana fear factor" myself about things. But we know WHO is in control of all things. I always support the CF Foundation and proudly use my "65 Roses" calendar every year!!!
  4. It's a bit of a drive, but somebody else mentioned Acworth --- Daddy's Country Kitchen on Main street (go through the town toward Kennesaw and it's on the right down the hill). All you can eat country cooking for $7 (including drink) except Friday when they have their seafood buffet for $12.95. We go there at least once a week. By the way, where is Phat Phils?? I've heard good things and I want to go. Also, I'm going to try Audrey's tomorrow!!!! FOR SURE!!! Oh, and there's a new BBQ place in Mableton - OB's. They are in the old Hickory House location. Their first
  5. Nemie, Didn't you say if somebody wanted to do their "yard sale" that they would be welcome to come down with their stuff????? Dianne
  6. Isn't Bob Hunton the cross road at Cohren Store Road? Off Ridge? There's creeks in that area also. Hubby is trying to decide how he will get to school to drive the bus in the morning. Can't go down Waters to Nebo. Maybe go Ridge to 92 and then onto Bill Carruth. Is Bill Carruth clear? Or does anybody know? I told him he still has to cross Lick Log Creek there on 92. Whoa. It's horrible out there.
  7. I am now preaching to my grandchildren. Yes I know what hard-headed is!!! I look in the mirror every day and the reflection tells me that somebody takes after their mom.
  8. You know how kids are - they think they are invincible and never think about danger. Then when something happens, they wonder what happened. If you see water - don't drive through it if it's over the road and moving. We need to stress this more with our kids who drive. They don't think about stuff like that.
  9. Just heard on the scanner that they have 5-600 feet of rope and the water is rising rapidly. Closest they can get to them is about 130-140 feet from them. Asking for other assistance to rescue.
  10. I live on Waters Road and this afternoon I was wondering if the lake would overflow onto the roadway. I am listening to the scanner and one responder said he was going to the firestation? to get life jacket and rope. Those teenagers must be scared out of their wits by now. I heard it's about 15 feet of water....
  11. We went there last night. All you can eat catfish and chicken livers (I think). What happened to all you can eat chicken?????? It certainly wasn't the same as it was when Glen and Peggy ran it (Ezelle's brother and sister-in-law). It was a little pricey, too for what you get. I figure a lot of folks thought it would be some of the same stuff as they used to have but I think a lot of folks will be disappointed (like me) and probably not try it again for a lonnnnnnng time. But it wasn't a bad experience. The decor is better and the carpet has been ripped up and the
  12. If his wife is of the Skil Power Tools family, maybe she could take a more innovative Lorena Bobbit approach. I'm finished.
  13. Lenny, Jerry, Rhonda & Jan, Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Gail was a wonderful mother and friend. She will be sorely missed. Walt & Dianne
  14. I came down Ridge Road about that time and there were rescue vehicles and about 4 police vehicles. I came on here to find out what happened.
  15. Thomas Aiken is P.L.'s uncle, if I'm not mistaken. Definitely not his brother, though. However, they ARE related in some way. I just can't remember how Rita told me.
  16. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this very difficult time.
  17. No. Just confident (at first, then a little disallusioned when I'm not right).
  18. Thanks!!! I thought I was the only one who had it. I thought it was like a nasty little black cloud that was hanging around me. Now I don't feel so bad. I'm really not so saavy when it comes to knowing how this site works. But its like most things. I try to put them together before I read the directions.
  19. Actually, my plus and minus just appeard. I forgot what they were used for. Here's what Deputy Barney Fife said on my rating: A Mayberry for you just so you can see what it looks like! Did I do something wrong to get that? I may be one of the last folks on here who have that rating
  20. I have some plus and minus signs under my avatar. Don't even know what they mean, but they've been there a number of years --- 4 at least. How do you get a bullet?
  21. He will be remembered by little children for being the conductor on Thomas The Train.....
  22. Such a beautiful star point you were. Now you can shine where it really counts!! You were a lovely and gracious lady. You will be missed.
  23. WILLIAM "BUTCH" ALFRED ROBERTS JR., 61, of Douglasville died Friday. Funeral, 11 a.m. Monday, Calvary Baptist Church, Powder Springs; West Cobb Funeral Home. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on 3/16/2008. Butch was a great person. You never saw him when he didn't have a smile for you. His address is listed as Douglasville, but he and his wife, Jackie, live in Paulding County. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Butch.
  24. I am so sorry for the family's loss. I pass her house every day. I've never seen her, but I saw there had recently been some activity at the little bait shop across the road from her house. So sad.
