Yes, but chances are the parents have no concept of family either. It is a generational problem. I'd like to see if bringing educated, successful, well adjusted AA men and women into the inner cities to calm the situation down would make any difference. They need to organize in order for the good to shine in their life. Life is hard enough, life in the streets is deadly.

I just don't understand WHY he was allowed to bring a real looking gun to a rec. center. Were his actions not supervised at all? The video showed him pointed the gun like it could be real. Where was this 12 year old parents and family? Did his family treat the rec. center as a sitter? And just let him go there and take his very real looking gun with him? WTH.....he was 12 years old. 12. Is this old enough to be on his own at a rec. center?
