Thanks for posting this, our/their family is just heartbroken. Life is so short, you just never really know from day to day. So, hug your loved ones and TELL THEM you love them. Prayer is something you can never have too much of!

Cobb County raised the millage rate on a 3-2 vote.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UNFORTUNATELY, the millage rate increase did NOT stop the 2 remaining furlough days for Cobb County. The just stopped the ones that were planned for FY12, beginning October 1st. As stated here: “The County Manager has confirmed with the Board of Commissioners that the two remaining furlough days will remain on the schedule.” It is my understanding that it would have taken a BOC action to reverse the furlough days. The BOC does not meet again until August 9, but I had hoped that they would choose to eliminate the final furlough day at that time -
Yes, this is the first year that my yard and three dogs are covered that stay in the house. I treated the yard with Spectracide granular. Then flea dipped the dogs once a week for 3 weeks, put Frontline on their backs AND put two different types of powder on the carpets. Seems to subside for a week or so, now I'm seeing little bitty fleas. Obviously, all that did was just kill adults but didn't kill the eggs, because it seems that just hatched and are back just as bad. HATE THEM!!!!!
My recipe is: always a chuck roast, first of all. I put it on low when I leave for work and it cooks from 6am to 6pm. Then I add: 1 can of french onion soup, 1 can of beefy mushroom soup and 2 packets of beef stew mix & 1 teaspoon of minced garlic. I quarter several potaotes & add a bag or two of baby carrots and can of sliced mushrooms. (yes, we LOVE 'shrooms). I add just enough water (or low sodium beef broth) to the half way point. I too serve with steamed broccoli & cheese & rolls. But the crockpot contents are meal enough for me! Deeeee-licious
Cobb County employees are very thankful for our jobs. Furloughs have loomed overhead for the past year. The dollar amount we'll be deducted may/may not be the main issue. The problem is how the commissioners have come to that decision. Cuts could have been made in other areas (MILLAGE RATE INCREASE) before slamming employees. Yes, losing money sucks, but its the principal of the fact. All the commissioners did was a smoke & mirror trick until next years budget, October 1st. Thats when the next round of cuts & changes will be delivered. So we could bite the bullet and adjust to
Thats what we should use the inmates for. Stop contracting out these jobs out and use "in-house laborers!"
The commissioners said that they also "borrowed" 4 million of the special reserves to cover some of the debt. However, they made it clear it would be paid back in FY12, which begins October 1st. They were hearing that we would have to begin paying our own 3% pension, which is what the county now pays for us. My guess is that this will begin Oct 1st, since they didn't want to hit us with furloughs & have us pay our own pension in one whack. We already pay 5.75% as it is. We also hear that the furloughs will continue into FY12 too.
Commissioners just voted to begin furloughs for a day month for the next 5 months for all employees, including all Public Safety. They voted to close the Mable House Amphitheater for rental use only. Keep all libraries parks & rec, and Senior centers open, but with budget cuts. No millage increase. ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Being that you're pregnant, you'll understand. My song to my son is Elton John's "Blessed". During the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy, while I was very hormonal, my SO would randomly play the cd in the car and as soon as I heard the first few notes I would be all teary. It's funny now to think about it! The other song to my son is Creed's "With arms wide open"
I've banked with CMAR for 15+ years. About 5 years ago, I had continous problems with them, not to mention rude reps to deal with. I left my saving acct open because I have a loan thru them. I closed all my other accounts. I had NO idea about the changes made with the recent merge. I almost want to transfer money just to have them ask me that question, so I can go off on them. That is beyond absurd. There are so many other security questions to ask. I'm amazed by this...
