  1. Billy Ray Cyrus, and Ben from Ben and Jerry's. I've met a number of professional athletes and business moguls.
  2. I doubt that it's worth anything, from the looks of it. But, I would take it to one of the antique stores on the square. They are all familiar with one another, so if they can help, they'll redirect you. They may be willing to consign for you as well. Obviously, art is only as valuable as they buyer days it is.
  3. I have another one!!! Why do you wait in a mile long starbucks line when you can go in and get your damn coffee. Unless you're not wearing a bra, you're just damn lazy!
  4. He was on 95.5 this morning. I thought he was a pretty classy guy. He simply said that the economy has hit on hard times and as a result, many people do not have insurance. He didn't blame "non-payers" or anything else - he blamed the real culprit which is the 10% unemployment. I'd imagine that's even higher given that Paulding is a bit rural. Unless you've combed his books and found some reason for him causing this failure, you should be ashamed of yourselves and even more concerned for your family as this is a needed piece of infrastructure that could potentially no longer be avail
  5. I can't undetstand why they don't wear gloves.
  6. Apparently, I need to take you home to me. But you've heard that before.
  7. The only people that can laugh at alligator hunters are the people that catch fish with their hands. And people that have never eaten alligator - or don't realize that a season can bring in 100K. Now you have me missing gator tail, and gator pie, and jazzfest.
  8. Really??? I'm from Hammond. Matter of fact - my mom's dad (my grandfather) married my dad's mom (my mawmaw). They met and married AFTER my mom and dad got married, but I like to leave that latter part out for shock value. It's a good follow up to "I was born in Louisiana". Yes, technically, my mom and dad are brother and sister. Does it get any cooler?
  9. I love this show. I was born in NOLA, and my dad's entire family still lives there. I was 20 when I met them for the first time; I had spent 20 years in the Miami area. It was like sending Snooki to Fargo the first time we met, but this show makes me so thankful that I've taken the time to know that side of my family. I wonder how many people can understand all of them!
  10. Did you put the restaurant name in the subject? If so, that's why it was taken down. Are you sure it wasn't moved to the school forum?
  11. I agree with you - to an extent. Still, working is a choice for me now. Just as working in a daycare was a choice for you. You didn't HAVE to raise their children, and I use "raise" loosely, you chose (and were paid to) care for other people's children. As was my case, most of my early paychecks did go to daycare...now I make 4 times as much money, but I never would have gotten here if I didn't start there. Just some food for thought.
  12. I don't think that they had malicious intent - but I do feel the need to point out how a lot of SAHM sound.
  13. This is why I hate stay at home moms. "Some daycare" raised my son from 10 weeks. Was I happy about it? Nope, but at the time, it was all I could do to keep a roof over my head and put food on the table. Thankfully, my some daycare was amazing and while they were "raising him", they were also teaching him. He's now at the top 10% of testers in the country and has had the highest GPA in his class for the last 3 years. He knows why mom goes to work, and he understands the value of my hard work. He's appreciative, independent, well adjusted, and brilliant - despite that daycare "raising
  14. I thought this thread...oh nevermind.
  15. Lighten up, killer. It was just a comment on the absolute hotness of fire fighters...and how I wanted pictures of them. Lost in translation. Sorry.
  16. I love foot chases. I especially love it when the folks think that they're going to hide in a shrub. Like if they close their eyes, they become invisible.
  17. Very rational explanation. My son would then want me to launch into some mapping of the brain, complete with scans and asks quesitons like, "could God make them better?" "but God can do anything", "well, what if the sick people have their own children", "will I be sick?" Ugh, being a parent is HARD.
  18. They're all over...Vision Works, America's Best, there's a couple more "mall stores", Here's a coupon for a $19 exam. 2 pairs with nothing (tint, scratch, polarizing, light lenses) will run you $100. http://www.visionworkseyewear.com/coupons-and-promotions/offers.php?LocationId=306
  19. Yeah, it's alarming. Thankfully, our friends have been our friends all of my son's life. I've been with SO for half of his life. The people that he would spend time with, that I would be aware of, I am not concerned with. But, he's getting older and will be becoming a lot more independent. Course, I also have a friend that is so worried about this that she won't let her daughter go to children's church. That's sad too.
  20. I watched something the other day and I realized that I need to do a better job of talking to my son, more frequently, about the dangers of pedophilia. I've always told him that no one but himself and mom or dad is to ever touch his junk, etc. but now I feel like he's of the age where IF something happened, he'd be too ashamed to talk about it. So, I kind of want to shift the focus more to how he can trust us and should tell someone if anyone ever makes him feel uncomfortable. So, how did you approach this with your own children? I really want to say "If someone ever try to look at o
