  1. You can only vote in local elections. He gets his 10 year green card in February, however he'll go for his citizenship after a year. He, as well as my daughter, will hold dual citizenship. The UK is one of the few countries where the US doesn't "strongly suggest" you renounce home country citizenship.
  2. Well, immigration is something that I know a little about. He's not a legal citizen. One cannot take ones citizenship before 3 years of residency. He is a legal permanent resident of the US (green card holder). It is absolutely legal for a permanent resident to own a firearm. He also has a carry concealed permit. Also legally. He can also vote in local elections. He also owns property and has credit and pays taxes! By golly!
  3. I worked for publix for 5 years. I have friends that are there still (I worked there in college). It was a great place to work!! I got to work in lots of areas and they have a great training program (store managers can make $250k a year at the right store). Good luck!
  4. Thank you all! Adventure Outdoors helped me pick out a great big black gun and hubby is SO excited. I had lots of fun picking out the bag He was very surprised and I got the gun, bag and ammo within my price range. Fwiw - I told them it was a gift for my husband. The exact question I had to answer, "Will it be yours before it will be his".
  5. They're on my list. I found a Double Star 556 on consignment for $849, which seems to be about $50-$100 lower than other resales. I know nothing about this, is it a good gun? What does all this mean? Palmetto State Armory PA-15 5.56/.223 16" Barrel 16" barrel length 5.56 Nato Chamber 1 in 7" twist Chrome Moly Vanadium barrel Chrome lined barrel Forged upper and lower
  6. It must be. I can buy a gun for him, we are married. I HATE WWT. They are way over priced. I'll check out Buds. I don't know what Academy Sports is, but my guess is that it would mean a drive to Pauling.
  7. If you've ever been to one of these glimmer show things…these moms spend A LOT more than a doll to dress their babies up like whores.
  8. I'm buying hubs an automatic rifle. I'm tired of listening to him moan on about having one… I spoke to a friend that gave the following advice… .223 Keep it under a grand Any other advice? Any advice on god places to buy? This guy and his stupid guns.

  10. You should read what I wrote. I don't have a "problem" with any of it. I think it could set unrealistic expectations, however I also believe that today's young woman is VERY different than my early 20's. I really could give a rat's hiney how anyone spends their money - so long as their spending theirs, and not mine of course (i.e. welfare folk). I just think that MANY people that go to a Braves game and take MARTA are going on someone else's dime and shouldn't be denied the right to go to a baseball game because they don't have a car. And Teslas might be pretentious, but they are LOTS
  11. A man better have one of two things. A big bank account or a big penis. You aint got one of those, I got no time… A lady can put up with a lot if'n the price is right…and ALL rich men are narcissistic assholes. Trust me.
  12. Yep. Just teach your children that they need to go to school or land a rich man if they expect to continue such behaviors post 18. That said, I know lots of ladies that still get lots o' money from their parents. Awe shucks, maybe I'm the anomaly!!
  13. Unfortunately, there's no escaping peers. It's way too idealistic to think that our children will not be affected by the people with whom they spend 8+ hours a day. But, we have chosen to live in a town that means that our cost of living is double, if not triple, what it used to be. To that end, Adelaide will have to make some choices. Sports will be mandatory, like they are with my son, but we simply can no longer afford to give in to every whim. Much like my son, who gave up Christmas near completely to go to Paris in the spring. That Ex Box One or whatever such thing he pined for since
  14. Twins! high five for TWO correct uses of mutually exclusive in a thread! Pcom first!
  15. I don't see it as a craze at all. I'll buy one for Addie I'm sure. I just hope that sports and AG aren't mutually exclusive. If doing both is cost prohibitive for a family, i would encourage the sports over the doll. IMHO, of course.
  16. Yeah. Those ghetto kids don't deserve such luxuries. Why give them a false sense that they too can be an American Girl? Here's an idea. Let's start Ghetto Girl. We'll open the first store in Arbor Place. We'll offer weaves, fake toe nails, and nose piercing? I should send this to a friend of mine. He is the CEO of a multi million dollar company. He rides MARTA everyday, and he drives his $80K Tesla home. So short sighted.
  17. I don't get why you like the RR. I think that they drive and ride EXACTLY like an Xterra.
  18. Sports are expensive, however they are FAR more productive for children than these dolls. Most sports teach kids how to be team players, keep them active, teach them how to lose with dignity and win with grace…these are lessons that help a child with their future - especially if they should choose to go into corporate america or take a management track. Sadly, we have to accept that this IS the new American Girl. Most teens have their first set of hair extensions in high school, take their first limo ride in middle school (I was 28!), get false nails, false eyelashes and if they live wher
  19. Oh they are brilliant. And if you read my post, I do not cast judgement on anyone for I will likely indulge my child in many dolls and way too many trips to the salon (who doesn't love a reason for xanax)? I just think that with these dolls, it's important to teach out children the truth behind what it really costs to be an "American Girl", otherwise we're doing them a great injustice to think that we can spend the better part of 7 years thinking that this is real life, and then deny them this luxuries later. College is important, or else you won't be affording that facial. period
  20. Based on the things I've witness from my friends, I estimate the true total cost of ownership of a single dolls somewhere around $2,500. But, I wanted to be conservative.
  21. Since it's the holiday season, I have noticed that a lot of my friends with girls have indulged them in the American Girl experience. I was shocked when I found out that girls take their dolls to have their hair done at $25 a pop. My husband doesn't even spend $25 on his hair. This got me thinking – what is the TCO of an American Girl doll? I was conservative in my estimates. Total Cost of Ownership of an American Girl $259 for your "starter kit", this is a doll and a couple outfits. You can make an entry into the world of AG for as little as $125, but I thought that most people would e
  22. High heels are not as much fun as they used to be.
  23. I just looked them up (just now starting to need "help")…at $300, I have a better option. http://www.fountainmd.com Another $100 and I promise your problems will go away!
  24. You early adopters… we still have…cable. Shudder.
