  1. Can it be really late, like overnight Saturday? We still have one more regular season wrestling tournament, and that road to SPHS is scary.
  2. I remember the snow of 77. Oh wait that was some snow flakes in WPB. No, really it did do that, pretty cool for kids that had never seen anything like it. We didn't move up here till 87. The 93 blizzard we lived in Dekalb co. We huddled up in our bedroom, so that we only had one room to heat, because we lost power over night. My husband trekked to the WH just to get us some coffee, and the kids some hot coco. My mom called, and laughed when I told her that my husband, kids, and all the animals were in one room, and we were really quite warm. I don't recall 11 being this bad. We lived here,

    why?

Just seeing if signing out, and back in helps. Well the funky bracketing thing seems to be gone.
  4. Yep. Speaking of I forgot to "what if I ran out of cat litter, and the litter box needed to be cleaned." Yeah, I need cat litter (scope able, hubs already used the regular.)That has been added to the restock list. Three cats stuck inside can fill it up quick.
  5. I know exactly who you mean. It was a fun ride at Disney World. But not practical, especially during an attack. I think that New Orleans is a perfect example of people waiting for the gooberment to come in and rescue them. It is also a good example of people not paying attention, and making decisions for themselves.
  6. "No need to wait on the government." and yet there are so many that will. SMH (I would've put that in bold but the board is still jacked up.) We have had a plan in place, not only with our family, but with our neighbors as well.
  7. I don't even want to think about it. Yep, plenty of time to restock.
  8. I don't know Pubby, when a hurricane comes to Fl, and Myrtle beach all the main routes are turned one way out of the area. Now are you telling me that the highways can't be changed to where folks can get out? Will it take some folks longer to get home? Yep, but they will be out of the city. And, if your to stupid to follow directions then it's on you for not doing what you need to.Again indviual plans should be made by each family unit/person. But, you know the gooberment has a lot of folks conditioned to think that the gooberment will take care of them, and they don't have to do anything. Ver
  9. Well, from what I can tell with certain folks on here they would sit around with their collective thumbs up their butts. What I don't understand is people who haven't already thought of a plan. Waiting on the gooberment to do it for you isn't going to cut it. If one doesn't take care of themselves then Darwin will have made his point. I know we have a ton of first responders on here. I know that I have taken a distaer (sp) course for first responders, and I was very surprised to find out just how vulnerable we are. The fact is that there will always be people who will rely on the g
  10. Maybe not tennis shoes for this kind of weather. I have an old pair of hiking boots (I almost gave them away) that I am thankful I have now. Those things are 10+ yrs old, and still in great shape.
  11. I'm glad you made it home. I'm sorry your in more pain. But, again you and MRNN are talking about the gooberment part of this. I'm going on about the personal responsibility part. While you were in the car on the way back, and then getting stuck, did you have a blanket in the car? Did you or your friend (knowing that there was questionable weather) have at least a couple bottles of water? I am starting to think based on the gooberment should've done X here, and in other threads, that a lot of folks were never in the scouts, service, or ever been in this situation before. Surpip you are
  12. Mine wasn't in school, and we are retired. However if he had been, there was a plan a,b, and c in place, and he knew it. That is the point. The point is you can take responsibility for your self, or you can expect the gooberment to do it for you. Personally I chose to take care of myself. There is only one person in this thread (I noticed that the real ones doing the bitching aren't here) going off about the gooberment. Now, the question is how many of those bithching, have been down this road before? How many took it on themselves to make sure that the next time (this being next time) were
  13. OK, that's fair.SPMS sent home a letter about making plans for the weather on Monday. Our plan was that 14yr old would ride the bus if schools let out early, if they didn't then I would've picked him up. We live just a little over 1mi from the school, so if it really came down to it I would've given him permission to walk home. But, there are 50 bgillion threads blaming the schools, gooberment, weather channel, etc. I would just ask that while I understand all that, I hope that those that are doing all this bitching will have more then one backup plan in place for the next time (cause the
  14. I understand what your saying, but at what point does one take responsibility for ones self? All those folks can hem and haw, all day long, but when it comes down to it, it is up to each of us individually to be responsible for ourselves. If anyone waits on the gooberment (be it local, state or federal) they are fools. My point is yes, those in the gooberment should never have had the schools open. Would that have stopped all those folks that went to work? The only difference would have been the kiddos would have been at home, or at daycare.
  15. Well then your not the one this directed to. LOL LOL
  16. Or keep an empty bottle in there. Wait, that only works for guys. Stationed where in Germany?
  17. Thanks. I don't know what the deal is with the board. I keep getting the bracket things in the quoted post, and such.
  18. Thank you Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/718832434818375/
  19. There are many negative thoughts running through my head, in regards to this weather event. But, I will keep them to myself. One thing I learned growing up in WPB (those of you from there will know what I mean) is that you always prepare even if the forecasters say it is a mild event. Now, that there is some semblance of order coming back, every one needs to regroup. Take stock, and to borrow a phrase "let this be a teachable moment." It does no one any good to blame anyone. Now you need to ask yourself "what will I do for myself when the next emergency/weather event comes." I know we w
  20. They also put the key in the corner stone of the stores when they build new stores.
  21. God Bless all of the bus drivers. You all went above, and beyond to take care of the precious cargo. Even though mine wasn't on the bus, I wanted any who may read this to know that you are appreciated.
  22. WOW, and my daughter walked most of the 13mi to get to her 4yr old yesterday from the daycare she was at. Then they walked to a friends house, and spent the night. All while her husband, and 10yr old were at home. There is hope these parents are in their late 20's, and took responsibility for taking care of their own children. We kept 14yr old home yesterday. But, if he had gone to school, he could've walked the 1mi home. Now if he had been in elementary school, his dad or I would've gone to get him. Either way we would've taken care of our own. With the high school being a bit further, I
  23. Oh my goodness. Bless her heart.
  24. What everybody else said. God bless you.
  25. I seen on FB that there was an 18 wheeler that may have jack knifed. I think there was one on 61 too. Ditto.
