4-Day School Weeks Under Consideration In Georgia
gog8tors replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know that the Ga. state BOE has the requirements on it. I know that my BFF has home schooled her kids and has told me that the minimum is 4 hrs. I will check into that program. She also sent me a curriculum that I will be checking out. -

I think I have heard of it. There is also another program that is in Kennesaw that specializes in kids with ADD/ADHD and with the sensory issues. I don't remember what the name of it is. -

If your home schooling it's only four hours a day. You can break it up how ever you want. So I guess technically you could do 2.5 days @ 8hrs for the 2 and 4 for the rest and be done on Wed. having the rest of the week free. Shhh don't tell the school board . You can also start when you want. My BFF starts her kids the Tues. after labor day and they finish the Friday before Memorial day. -

No I missed it. I think DH was watch something on one of the Discovery Channels. What did they say? Do you have a link? -
Good morning, I hope you and the little one got some sleep last night. Call your doctor this morning and ask about the Vick's for him and don't forget the Motrin/Tylenol.
-
Why are you weaning him? He is too young for that. Don't rush he will give it up when he is ready. As far as his having a cold goes, please don't stress I know how hard this is. Do you have a humidifier? If not get one. Use the Vick's formula for it. Raise the crib mattress up so that his head is raised. It will help him breath easier. Call the doctor and ask if you can use the Vick's vapor rub on his chest as it will help break up the mucus. Also he may be teething and may need some Motrin alternated with Tylenol. I have three kids. So I do so know what your going through. Good luck

But, wait don't ya know the little one HAS to go to school as soon as possible. Preferably the day they are born. (Sarcasm people). Really though a lot of parents think little one must have pre-K and Kindergarten to attend school. Like I stated before they are not REQUIERED to go until they are 6. Then they are only REQUIERED to go to school till they are 16. The only reason my DS went to Pre-K was it was offered at the daycare he was enrolled in at the time. I looked at the link it is intriging. Might be something to consider. -
Yea, babies are popping out all over. She is beautiful. My grandnice just had a boy. Congrats to you and your family.

I am right there with ya. With sports programs and fine arts too. Yep 52 I was 36 and our youngest at the time was 13. We wouldn't trade our DS for all the money and Winnabagos in the world. He is the coolest kid. Yes, he is also spoiled rotten. -

I understand what you are stating. I agree it will make it hard on a lot of familes. Just as this new calander will make it hard on those that have shared custudy. It appears there are no easy answeres. Not eveybody will be happy. I am still on the fence so to speak about this. But, then I am considering homeschooling. One thing how many people know that they do not have to start their little one in school before they are 6? And that they only have to go until they are 16. Also when regersting said student they do not have to give the school the child's SS#. -

I know you didn't just go there. You wouldn't know me if I walked up and bumped into you. Just who the heck do you think you are? I have been on my own since I was 16. I have WORKED yea I know what that means since I was 12. So get your panties out of the wad they are in and get over yourself. By the way dip stick We own our home. We have never had help from the goobement even when we NEEDED it and applied we could not get it. So you need to go and get your self some milk and let the adults talk. My kid plays both Football and Baseball. I do not know or care what your problem is with spo -

Having been a renter I knew that the amount I paid was cacaulated to cover the owner's mortage, property taxes, insurance and a little extra if they need to maintain the property. I also knew that the rent was subject to change if the taxes went up or the other rentals in the area went up. I am sorry that you have had some very bad renters. Not everybody who rents is irresponsable. Not eveybody who has their child in the public scool system thinks of the school as a babysitter. Whether they rent or own their own home. I would say that the folks who think of the school as a babysitter are -

1. I am NOT your babe. Please try not to be so condesending when replying to me. I am much more intellgent then you think. 2. IF you do/have rented homes/apartments then you surely know that if you are renting comparbly to the rents in the area in which the property is located the propertyt taxes are fiiqured into the amount of rent. 3. Good for you chasing after the almighty dollar. Did you have a point? -

I agree with what you are stating. However I disagree with the property taxes. If they pay for a place to live the owner of the property pays taxes. The renter pays the property owner thereby pays property taxes. Now, I will grant you that there are most often 10-15 people living in the apartment/home and some of them are getting welfare and we are still being screwed. But, as you stated that is a whole other can of worms. -

Bolded statment. Why do you think that folks who rent are not paying taxes? If the property tax goes up do you think the rent stays the same? Do you not think that rentals are not a bussiness? Do you think that the rent just goes into the landlords pocket? Do you not understand that the landlord is paying the same and in some cases more then you do in property taxes? So just why do not think that someone who rents would not care about this? -

http://video.foxnews...-school-program http://www.youtube.c...h?v=4H00Sb4KWzs And then there is this. Kids are not REQUIRED to attend school after age 16. So why does this suprise us? I don't have the answer to a lot of the questions this raises. I do know that parents with elemtary age kids will suffer. As far as middle schoolers go, no supervision equals preteen trouble. Yes, I know not my little angel. These kids need to be supervised as much or more then the younger kids. Just to be clear If I were working as well as my husband we would be cought up in this. I know my DS (10) d -
