My opinion: PLEASE DONT hold the child back... Do some research and see the graduation rate for students that have been retained in elementary school. He hates school.. your adding another year to his school life... Make a deal with him... I teach in Douglas County (middle school)... The most important thing they need and seldom bring with them is PENCILS and PAPER... Thats it for my class... Pencils and Paper...I provide the paper notebooks they need...

I had Maj. Corey for one class. He was so much fun! The professor I was speaking about from Gwinnett .... taught alot of classes there my last year... I can not think of his name... I remember his badge number 051 lol it was his email address... He was always telling us stories about his police career and also about his daughter... I will think of his name later... and update this lol

When I attended Mercer University... a professor worked the case.. I had him several times and his favorite saying was... How much would it take??? (saying that Chapel ruined his and his kids lives for a very little amount of money not to mention his police career) Very sad story...

Heres the email address for the lady that does the scheduling... tbrownlow@sheriff.douglas.ga.us The parents do have to attend an information class for two nights about an hour a night... They just go over what they will be teaching your child. It was worth every minute of the time we invested....

Douglas County Sherriffs office also offers a free class it is actually in 5 stages. One stage is in a classroom for 8 hours. Then theres the simulator, then the cone course, then the skid car, and also your required to take the defensive driving course through the county (15.00). It is not what the state requires that is totally different this program is just an 'extra'.... My son just completed the course and actually liked doing it... It takes several months because its in stages and they dont offer the classes every day...

I love stone mtn... I think the passes are well worth it... and wished we had purchased those instead of Six Flags passes... They have different events and things year round... such as the Christmas and Pumpkin themes...
