  1. I am not, I think we all need to pay more for the future of our kids as Paulding is taking less revenue on property taxes. Airport and court house, the jury will be out for at least 20 years. Two possible verdicts. 1-(had it not been built) what the hell were those people thinking, they knew growth was coming and did not build facilities to handle it. 2- What a flop. I like to believe we are the bridge builders to the future. An old man going a lone highway, Came, at the evening cold and gray, To a chasm vast and deep and wide. Through which was flowing a sullen tide The old man c
  2. Sam rocks, he supported many low cost funerals and accepted what we raised then payments for the rest on some heart breaking cases. He allowed a mother of small kids to die in peace knowing the burden of her own funeral was no longer on her. I also want to add that many Pcommers and Pubby allowing us to raise that money also contributed to allowing this family some relief in a very hard time as they did with so many other worthy causes.
  3. That building is incredible! I had the honor of being in on some of the early meetings for layout. I also went to the update meetings so I could keep our office informed. It was originally designed to have a high tech exterior look but the student body wanted the traditional GT red brick.
  4. These areas are very safe, most of what has been going on is just off campus, not on the main campus. There has been much larger police presence, GT officers are highly trained real cops and they also use a force of plain clothed officers. I also noticed a presence of more GT and Atl police in the surrounding areas around campus. If you look at the per capita stats GT does well with crime, it just makes the news with more staying power because it is GT. I obviously am off today but when I am there I feel safe, I park off campus near the Coke building and walk in. If it is late I pull my car to
  5. Please, I don't think there was a racist tone at all. I work with all blacks in academia and not one of them would have a problem just as they would not if it was a 6'3" slender white guy. I often in meeting describe black men as(for example) the brother that is tall, slender and I think CS is his major. Now in that situation I can use brother because my peers know me, were I anyplace else I would have replaced brother with black. On this board if brother was used I would say wrong term.
  6. It has to do with the people here that don't look at politicians and vote their own heart. If so there was plenty out there about Deal to raise red flags. Many feel like they have to follow the herd of sheep, even if it is over a cliff. I watched teachers at Hiram have kids saying boot Barnes when he was running against Sonny and lost. How do we expect people to have their own opinion when teachers don't teach both sides. I went to school in other states and teachers taught both sides and you decided. My daughter had to argue with a teacher about the basics of NY history and the Erie Canal. He
  7. you can go public and still maintain majority ownership, public is not as cut and dry as many think.
  8. I totally agree and agree with the right to not do business with them. If they were publicly traded I would disagree as then your obligation is to your stock holders and not your own agenda.
  9. Very true, people in the south love to attack Catholics with lies, this from educated southern baptist ministers. I have been told more times that we can't pray to God. Do we pray to others, yes do we pray to God, yes Can we ask God directly for forgiveness, yes people hear one thing like a confessional and assume from there we have to see a priest to get forgiveness, from there they spin stories that create the current hate filled world we live in.
  10. Dumb move, keep your personal life and feelings separate from your business. everyone's money is green. I remember in the 90's on the corner of macland and 92 a store with a big sign that read no lottery no beer, she lost her *ss. In retail you need to focus on the general population, not a small group unless you have that special nitch. In Ga they will do fine with said nitch since they are in the bible belt. I for one will not eat there now, I have not been in a TJ Maxx since the 80's because the way they botched a racial situation and they never issued an apology, instead they
  11. I hope it was a great package that will make more industries consider Paulding. Congrats to those that went up against all of the other possible locations and brought this one home!
  12. If you read through many made general statements about all Hiram police and corruption and then someone mentioned this cop I know. I have seen one persons FLASE statement on here cause gang ups to the point where it is defamatory. I have found on here the biggest complainers and people that head the lynch mobs have their own skeletons in their closet, or plants anyway. I also noticed those on here with most comments about this don't live in Hiram.
  13. I know the brother, he is my neighbor. I have met many of you, trust me he is way above the level of drama, stupidity and general lack of common sense many of you display on here. I have seen many of your kids and what animals they are, his are angels. I watch him cut the lawn of a retired lady and was never asked, he just noticed I helped her so when he moved in he did also. He ran drug dealers out of our neighborhood, I guess according to many on here he should have hit them for a protection money. To say what you are saying about all is to say Every excon is still a con at heart a
  14. This is why I stopped getting involved with fundraisers on here, it was not worth the ridicule. I found places where I could do good things without the fat *sses eating bon bons and complaining about those out there that actually have a life that exist here.
  15. Lisa is doing ok, she is on FB as are her sons. Financially there has been no help, she was home with her boys and cleaned houses so she did not qualify for any benefits. For those that do not know Lisa is a quad amputee due to her kidneys shutting down and the rest of her body trying to do so. She survived but has not had the happy story we see on TV of some. For everyone you see there are many you don't hear about.

  18. I need to pay anyway, it is worth it just to sell a few thing every year. thanks for the info
  19. Here FB post today hate to be the bearer of bad news but i have exhausted all options........looking at 5months maybe. Below is a post her brother made on her fundraiser site. The pic is from April when she first found out it was very serious, she lives in NY and was visiting brother in Charlotte for the last time so I made the trip on my bike. I am leaving today on the bike for Florida so obviously this ride is dedicated to her. Roz is a 45 year old single mother of 3 girls, and grandmother of 1. The father of her children, Tony, passed away in 2009 after a hard fought, courageou
