  1. You have hit the nail on the head. The media is squarely in control of this country. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press is part of what has made this country great. They have a responsibility to be factual and fair in their reporting. All of that seems to have fallen by the wayside due to commercialization. As you know I have been with my dad for six weeks. We watch news most of the day, the local news 3 times a day and national off and on. He changes from Fox to Cnn a few times to calm my blood pressure. On Fox Obama is dragged into every story some how. Presidents have almost never
  2. I think what makes this different is parents that thought their son had beat the streets. I can understand their reaction, they just could not believe it. Again they look to find fault with the system and the heart breaking truth is the minority that commit crime on a regular basis in the community. In many of these communities they cover for the criminals and don't report them. I wonder if the kid reacted like he did because he thought he had ruined his future over cigars. I also think the media picks and chooses who to interview. The overall impression is that the community does not w
  3. Having worked with small business owners that are gay, they do have challenges that are unique. They have to walk a fine line between living a lie and being themselves with certain boundaries. We all have boundaries when presenting ourselves as professionals. They have to deal with stereotypes. They are probably the most discriminated against segment of the population due to the high percentage of Christians in this country. Many feel that God wants them to be shunned and mistreated. Some just want them in the closet. Most business owners never have to deal with these issues
  4. There may be oppression in this community. This case is not the one to seek that evidence. What I see is brazen disregard for the law and officers that uphold the law. When the looters turn on the protesters will they want protection or point to abuse when they are protectors. They can not win in this situation.
  5. Your kidding right? How does this apply to the rights of people committing crimes to not be arrested?
  6. They claim that a disproportionate number of blacks are being arrested there. It is 70% black community, you have to ask out of those 70% how many have applied for a police position and been turned down. With those numbers you would have to follow the few white folks all day and ignore calls to create what some would consider fair numbers, Remember this young man was on his way to college when he decides to steal cigars. He fought because he thought he had been caught. His poor parents, they believed their son had beat the streets. Why put out to the world that the numbers are disproportionate
  7. I am not glad he is dead. It makes me sick. The wasted lives, the people held back from wonderful lives because they have never felt valued or needed by their family or community. This young man was on the brink of getting out of the cycle that takes the lives of so many young black men. They don't hang around the streets bragging about their GPA. The people that are glad he is dead are those using it as an excuse to loot and destroy. I don't think I would shed a tear over them taking a round. The worse of the worse together in one place with more coming every day. Can you imagine if one was
  8. Did I imagine the story of the officer going to the hospital to have bruises on his face checked? The last bullet was the one that killed him through the top of his head. 5 bullets and that kid was moving until he bent over and that is supportive of the officers statement that the guy was bum rushing him. His partners in crime were the first witnesses to the media. We have a man the risk his life daily to protect the people in that community and they turned on him based on the statements of a couple of punks, He would have had his day in court if he would have done what the officer told him in
  9. There are not an over abundance of people confident enough or authoritative enough to be officers of the law. You raise dogs, you know that you can not create an alpha dog, they are born to it. You also have dogs that can not be dominated ever. We hire alpha;s to control those that will not accept dominance or work instead of preying on others. For every predator shot their are 10's of thousands of victims of these predators. I am talking about a small minority that preys their own people in their own communities, yet the people in the community don't want them punished. I just watched an in
  10. He put his hands on a police officer. All I can say is nobody should be so stupid as to think that is not likely do be a death sentence. If he had gotten that officer down in the middle of this community, I have no doubt it would have been an execution of the officer on the spot. They would not have found a single eyewitness for justice for the officer. Should we ask officers to give their life so we don't risk riots and violence? Before this is over they will turn on each others like jackals. We did not raise these young men to be like this their parents, family and peers did.
  11. Eddie I saw the same growing up. It is painful history. We as a society no longer dis-respect black people for the color of their skin but for their behavior. Should I respect or pity the looters and rioters? I can not force these inner city communities to value their boys and men. If we could do it we would.
  12. He was taught to respect punks. That is the problem.
  13. I have been following the post and the news. The circumstances that brought the 2 men together. First what is the day to day life of the officer that polices high crime communities. Communities much like I see on the news here in Memphis every day. There is at least one or more shootings everyday and multiple murders each day. It is almost exclusively in the all black communities here. When an officer sees a black person what goes through his mind? Could it be someone raised in a community that does not value the life of a black man. The majority of black men are not valued or re
  14. [Liberals] are animated in large part by the false promises of America, because the promises of America are not for everyone,” he said. “He had it all, but he had nothing. Made everybody else laugh, but was miserable inside. It fits a certain picture or a certain image that the left has. [i’m] talking about low expectations and general unhappiness.” Fox News reported Mr. Williams suffered from “survivor’s guilt” after the deaths of Christopher Reeve, Andy Kaufman and John Belushi. “Robin Williams felt guilty that he was still alive while his three friends had died young, and much earlier tha
  15. Chronic depression is like having a sieve over your brain everything around you passes through it and as it entersyour mind it becomes a negative. Some have described it like wearing glasses that turn everything a dark gray. Extremes are often utilized to snap out of it. Extreme talents bring great results and often help clear the fog. Still the millions of synapses in the brain that only process things negatively are still working. With each severe bout of depression more negative connections are made. This is why it is an organic brain disease. I hate when people go on antidepressants wi
  16. Sear it in Worcester sauce. Turn a skillet on high while waiting for it to get smoking hot sprinkle both sides liberally wwith Worcester sauce. You will basically flash fry it. Brown on both sides then set aside. Slice onions, peppers. mushroom. add a table spoon of olive oil and sautee them. Combine all in a pot of hot water and swimmer until meat is tender.
  17. I know so well that those suffering from depression are many times the people you would never have a clue. They also tend to be the one's it is a fatal condition. Never hesitate to reach out and get involved when you suspect depression in a friend. I know his family is devastated and it is a loss to all those that appreciate his talent. He is finally at peace.
  18. I am old school about bullies. Your kid has to do what he has to do and the school has to do what it has to do. You never teach a child to take abuse from anyone period. I have yet to see a bully fear authority. what they fear is one of their victims standing up to them. The authorities won't be on your side. just blow it off when it goes down.
  19. For Immediate Release* Firearm Laws on the Silver Comet Trail (Paulding County, GA) In the days since the attack on Tina Waddell which occurred on the Silver Comet Trail on July 29, 2014, there has been much discussion regarding whether or not citizens can legally carry a firearm on the Silver Comet Trail. Social Media sites have had people spreading misinformation back and forth. After speaking with County Attorney Jayson Phillips and reviewing the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA), Sheriff Gary Gulledge decided it was time for everyone to know what the law actually says. In shor
  20. Mom charged under drug-addicted baby law going to rehab UPDATE: A Monroe County woman will be the first in Tennessee to plead guilty to charges of giving birth to a baby who tested positive for meth. Back in July - Mallory Loyola was the first mother charged under a new law that punishes mothers who use drugs while pregnant. Tuesday, she entered a guilty plea to avoid jail time. Loyola's attorney says it's the best resolution. She'll avoid jail time, and instead get the help she needs. In court, Mallory Loyola was hopeful for a deal that would spare her from being the first mother in Tenn
  21. We all face this eventually. It is wonderful that you all support his decision to go with grace. I feel it is important to respect a loved ones decision to do so. Many are so fearful that they are losing their loved one they want them to fight to the very end. Who wants to spend the end in a hospital full of strangers and beeping machines.
  22. I am with you on this one. If their equipment and procedures are as fail safe as they claim let them take it over there to study it. I understand that they supposedly have the ability to capture and destroy all the biological particles. My understanding of viruses is that they live indefinitely in soil for 1000's of years. Any living thing that moves across that soil can become a host. People do not have to be infected to carry it on clothing or shoes, it simply needs to be in soil.
