  1. I just read an article that said 80 people are suspected of having contact with the Dallas man. It said the were being monitored. I hope that means quarantined, if not we are in big trouble. The issue with this and many viruses is our hospitals and clinics can easily be over run with sick people. Because of modern practices we can get people through some illnesses so that they live. The issue is enough medical people and other resources for massive amounts of people being infected. It would not take very many sick people to fill every hospital bed with in a 100 mile radius of most metropo
  2. Why did you have to go and say that. I am sure that he has not made this decision based on his personal thoughts. As all our presidents he listens to the experts and considers their opinions. We have so many department heads in this country that need to be flipping burgers it is not even funny. Hopefully the head of the CDC will get nailed by the liberal media and resign before he gets millions of Americans killed.
  3. One is 6ft and 5ft around the other is only about 3x5. The big one I have been taking in for over 5 years LOL. So taking them in means that I have to go ahead and pot them. My husband and son look forward to this ordeal every year. I do hope it freezes the sweet potato vines, I always wait for the first frost to dig them. I leave to go back to Tn. on the 20th for an indefinite time to care for dad after surgery. I am having a lot of problems with making decisions about fall preparations, such as gathering my seeds after first frost. I dug my caladiums yesterday to find they had not formed
  4. The best thing is to restrict travel. I am sure that the concern is more likely loss revenue. As we well know money has become like a God in this global economy.
  5. I have 2 hibiscus that I bring in every year. Does anyone know if this is cold enough to damage them. I will be taking them into my little greenhouse also for the first time. At what temperature do I need to heat the green house for them?
  6. 300,000 people a year would tell you not to trust the CDC statements about any disease. That comes out to millions of people in the last 10 years that are left with permanent disabilities because they have been treated incorrectly or refused test and aggressive treatment based on CDC guide lines. I am not in panic mode, but I will reserve the right to be no matter what the CDC puts out there as fact. The CDC will go to ridiculous lengths to save face.
  7. What if the child only wanted parents that would be totally accepted by society? Perhaps they don't want to worry that their child will be subjected to racism? I am thinking about the phrase a match made in heaven, I mean that sincerely.
  8. Most people that are well off or wealthy made huge sacrifices along the way. They also took calculated risk. If it is your hearts desire to make this much money, you will eventually have to sacrifice and take risk. Look hard and long at this, most successful people will tell you that there is some luck involved such as the right time and place, so you need to take that into consideration. You may be in a place where you have no room to cut back on expenses. If you do, then I say study this some more. You will never get encouragement from those that play it safe, nor those that are in the
  9. Probably the stupid CDC telling them there is no need. That is the number one reason I am afraid. The CDC can not be trusted on anything ever. They don't care about lives, they care about their careers and the prestige of working for the CDC.
  10. I have seen men marry the date zone women. It never ends well.
  11. I can see the most subtle hues. It makes me crazy when putting tops and bottoms together. I can distinguish easily if blue has a lot of green in it. Beige and khaki, if it is cool or warm. Purples make me crazy as do reds. For most people this is not a problem because they wear blue jeans. I can not wear jeans or slacks that have a second seam on the back because it pulls across my facets in that area.
  12. That is how it comes across to me reading the thread. I think we are doing what we should. We now have allies joining us in the fight. The more they threaten people in other countries the more that will join us. We want the world to join us in this fight. If we give the impression to the world that we will not tolerate Muslims living it turns into a Holy war and we will be condemned by the world. Quite honestly the criticism of our handling this situation come down to hatred of the administration. Criticizing is so easy, nobody is perfect, if that is your intent then you will have no difficult
  13. Am I to understand that we should start rounding up all Muslims in this country and place them in camps or send them to any Muslim country that will take them? Then we declare war on Muslims everywhere in the world and start annihilating them. We believe the consequence of these actions will solve our terrorist problem. The only reason that I have participated in this thread is that I believe that consequences of that type of action will bring the world against us just like it did Germany. The natural laws say that there will be dire consequences for killing innocents.
  14. I remember her election well. A couple prominent citizens of Hiram that many respect and look up to escorted Mrs. Devey around supporting her election. It seems to me that the people that wanted her to have that office might have vetted her better. I respect her, she takes her position seriously works long hours and has a mind of her own. That has not always made her popular. The lack of conviction on such a serious case speaks volumes, she would have been convicted if at all possible. I can think of quite a few scenarios where a person could be suspected of assisting in this type of activit
  15. I am not going to search for scripture for you either. Christians study the bible old testament and new. There really is no reason to read the old testament as a Christian because we were given a new law. Yet it is often cited to make points when people justify things or behaviors and they frequently contradict one another. It is acceptable to pull up old testament verses to prove either good behavior or bad. According to the old testament we can kill Islamic clergy as false prophets. Christ never said that we should kill anyone for any reason. One of the 10 commandments is though shal
  16. I am shocked, I have a lot of fond memories of Kathy. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around her being gone.
  17. I saw this coming years ago when our military began to cull the brightest and smartest for service. It is ironic the we place the most violent killers in prison to feed and cloth for life, then send our best to fight. We have people in our military that are assigned to be the person to push the button and launch the nukes. We have plenty of civilians spewing hate that would seem to be more capable of pushing that button without remorse. My heart truly goes out to our men and women that are emotionally damaged by our military capabilities. I know that they go in with their eyes wide
  18. I proclaim to be a spiritualist but my beliefs are closer to Deism. The exception is I do believe in miracles, but I don't believe they come from the creator. I believe that their is an unseen set of natural laws that allow them to be tapped into, such as what Jesus did. I also believe that Christianity is the best religion and is the reason that America is as great as it is. I find myself sometimes very leery of those claiming their Christian beliefs make them right in their spiritual and political beliefs.
  19. What I see is that people can find passages in the bible to support what they personally believe. Because the bible contradicts itself so much there is a lot of passages that allow people to justify their actions.
  20. Why do you think Pubby feels that way Not what he thinks but how he feels.
  21. Very interesting to see Pubby and Zorro arguing over the same point that both are making. You both speak of the motivation behind actions that are claimed to have religious origins. We do not excuse the actions of those bombing AB clinics even though many agree that it is wrong. We punish these people for their actions, we do not include those that believe in the punishment. This is America we have been given the constitution as a guide to govern us. I can and should over ride our emotions and knee jerk reactions to things such as terrorism by those claiming religious reasons. Both of yo
  22. If you come up here on N.61 a little early the Methodist church is doing a fund raiser. Barbq chicken plates and a yard sale. The church is just past the DG and entrance to Burnt Hickory sub. on your right going north.
  23. I was not claiming that the officer did the right thing, he screwed up. What I am saying is that their fear is reasonable. Not just him, but all officers. Most of these shootings are not power trips, they are motivated by fear and faulty decisions made in split seconds. I honestly believe that it can happen to any officer. I believe their fear of young black men is totally justified. Nobody is making up the stories about the many shootings that go on in these neighborhoods.
  24. I read the headlines and articles most every day. I specifically have my home town of Memphis and Atlanta comes into my feed because of the cookies. Every single day without fail one or both of them have shootings involving black people in their neighborhoods. Those that are not criminally inclined arm themselves in these neighborhoods, that is a fact. The bad guys couldn't care less if they accidentally kill children or other innocent people. As an officer they know this, they expect them to be armed whenever they approach them. You can fire these police, even arrest them, but you are go
