  1. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/19/nyregion/mental-reports-put-34500-on-new-yorks-no-guns-list.html?google_editors_picks=true&_r=0 A newly created database of New Yorkers deemed too mentally unstable to carry firearms has grown to roughly 34,500 names, a previously undisclosed figure that has raised concerns among some mental health advocates that too many people have been categorized as dangerous. The database, established in the aftermath of the mass shooting in 2012 at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and maintained by the state Division of Criminal Justice
  2. I was simply wondering if most people would say oh my I don't want to spread this disease and possibly kill thousands. I imagine some would just simply carry on with their life waiting for an official to force them into isolation. We have a better chance of stopping this if people are responsible. Of course the hospitals are already dealing with the lunatics claiming to have Ebola. After Duncan I am sure they are being very careful. As big as this world is the action of one can still effect us all in a big way.
  3. Seems like the lady that took the cruise didn't think about ruining other peoples vacation. I think that it is also denial that you can actually have it.
  4. Your friend sat next to a person with ebola on a plane. Every Monday night is guys night. You are piled on the couch drinking beer slapping each other on the back. Your friend calls to let you know he has tested positive and that you all might have it. Would you immediately isolate yourself out of fear you would give it to others? Or would you go about your business until you tested positive and were made by an official to go into quarantine?
  5. I get migraines in the back of my neck, they wake me up in the middle of the night. This is basically how I know it is time for my adjustment, but not in the middle of the night. I have been doing this for years and it looks as though a company is developing a gadget to do it. You take a scarf or something similar, I use my robe belt. Tie it where it goes just below your skull where it meets your neck. Bring it around over the ears and tighten it until you feel relief, some people bend their head forward or backwards. It mat take 10-15 minutes to feel relief. If mine continues like that I
  6. I like number 1, something about the light and shadows are more natural. Not sure but they look they have been retouched with a computer program. Some of the shadows look too deep in places on the rest of them. My second choice would be your pick number 2. The ones with him smiling has his right cheekbone looking strange, like the way the light hit it.
  7. It seems to me it is going to be a logistical matter so lets hope that is where his strength lies. Doctors are well known for their lack of ability as administrators. Doctors stand steadfastly on what they know, if this virus evolves, doctors want proof. Then there is making sure all 100,000 of them get the same memo, which is doubtful since 90% of their continuing education comes from pharmaceutical reps or when and if they take time off for a seminar. He will probably listen to some of the best minds in the country, the ones that do not work for the CDC. People are just so quick to jum
  8. I totally agree. I also know that many Americans feel that we are so superior that we can not have an epidemic here. We will get it under control and perhaps develop the first vaccine. This situation reminds me of the housing collapse that was never going to happen to us. We confuse confidence with arrogance over and over when it comes to leadership not just in our government, but leadership in companies and institutions such as hospitals. We need confident people, they are able to make decisions based on knowledge and experience. Arrogant people make decisions then use their power to try an
  9. I read an article that stated he is not going to stop them for now. Law makers are calling for the resignation of the chief of the CDC. All of the power for this situation does not lay with the feds, it is the states. I am pretty sure that a state can stop planes from those countries or that have had passengers in that on the plane. I do have some concern about the stated taking over the health and welfare over the feds, I am terrified that Rep. Governors will do any and everything possible opposite of the fed because of politics. I have real fear the we are finally going to pay for our arro
  10. I am glad he ask for help. I would be more frightened if he acted as if he knew what the hell he was doing and started giving orders. He bureaucratic pencil pusher, who does nothing but obsess over the CDC budget to the point the best minds have left for fair compensation else where. I suggest congress find those people, put them on a committee and pay them handsomely for their decisions. I imagine that this guy is more afraid of the backlash from an economic crisis than the death of millions. The only thing bureaucrats really care about is job security, his preoccupation should be cured
  11. Miniature Dahlia, pink zinnia, coleus, variegated hibiscus and yellow hibiscus. The yellow hibiscus is 5 years old and the variegated is 2 yrs old.. I save the seeds from all of it. That coleus had leaves bigger than both my hands together. I have collected the seeds and will be starting them in the spring. The dahlia grows to about 3 ft as does the zinnia they both have to be staked.
  12. I am having to gather seeds early this year and cut. I have to get it done before I leave town for an indefinite period to help dad after surgery, I always make a sampler when I do this because some things still have blooms. This year because it is a little early I had to put the sampler in a bucket to hold it all. They are so beautiful I wanted to share!!
  13. Folks go to the CDC website and start reading the language pertaining to anything, vague and non committal. Does not matter the subject the disease what ever, it is just like reading a politial speach where a candidate tries to answer a question and totally manages to side step the entire thing. They are an example of bureaucracy at it's worse. Lab rats and politicians. God help us. There is no one in place where the rubber meets the road. If they don't find that person, just like with FEMA this is going to be bad.
  14. There is also the option of a march or candle light vigil. The press loves those things. We could use p.com and facebook to organize it. I always used FB pages to measure participation and had share partners on here and there to push views into the 1000"s between the 2. A lot of people could not do much as far as money or labor, but anyone can stand in front of the courthouse with a candle or sign on Sat or Sun night. I can coach if someone wants to take it on. I will be out of town after Monday, but I have coached organizers and fund raisers before.
  15. They will read it. They read p.com as do their friends and family. The response will be to criticize the Morrisons as greedy gold diggers and p.commers as idiots. They will go on and on about the people on this board and how mean, nasty, and stupid they they are they are. Sorry mei lan they will know where your info came from and you will just be another p.com nut job. It is a really good letter, they know you can't touch them so they will just brush it off. The GBI has already been told that the Morrisons were fairly compensated and they are just being greedy so don't pay attention to any
  16. It would seem that an official is telling anyone that ask about your case that you got an insurance settlement from the insurance company that in their words was a lot of money. That is not here nor there as far as I am concerned. What does concern me however is why a developer would go in, take your land never offer a dime for it then enlist the local government to help him retain it. Who is this developer that our county government would protect to the tune of over 2 million dollars of my tax money. If I steal something they are going to spend money to keep me in jail to protect the commu
  17. It is on business 6 now next to Jennifer and company hair salon, lots of parking in the parking lot.I can drop it after 2pm.
  18. Do you know where the p.com office is? I can drop a bag off there for you today.
  19. How many patients did she come in contact with before she became sick. During the last out break the caretakers did not leave quarantine until all cleared inside the area. We believe ourselves to be so sophisticated that we don't need to practice what some would consider primitive and barbaric quarantine. The same transport, personal, and treatment facility should be used for those positive. The area they came from should round up and quarantine those exposed. I have no issue with compensating them with tax dollars so that we don't ruin them financially an epidemic will ruin the economy anyw
  20. We tried it, they don't like the smell of great Pyr. Much easier than running around in the dark with a gun Bear is nasty but not that nasty
  21. The bickering in this thread detracts from the most important thing, a community coming together to help one of it's own. Political party has been brought up repeatedly, when I was there people from both parties were pulling together to help. I don't care what party you affiliate with, nor did the Surepips. It is sad and it never seems to end, the idea that one party or the other is inherently evil is just stupid and many of these spats are based on that. If you were there or you gave even if it was an uttered prayer then you are the good in your party, many need to be looking beyond a mes
  22. I have a great Pyr. I can get you a big bag of hair to scatter around.
