  1. So you are saying the more people we have earning the lowest wages possible the stronger our economy?
  2. We all agree with that, but what about the facts of the reality what are we going to do with these people, we have a cost of living so far beyond their means. How do you begin to bring down the cost of living. We are part of a global economy and that is as big of a shift as the industrial age was. Americans are not fully capable of controlling our markets and economy.
  3. I want to make myself clear, in that I am not singling out Mcdonalds or Walmart. There are plenty of people like you that are profitable because of them. I have no issue with people becoming extremely rich. My issue is the proliferation of this business model, we need to look at it honestly and at the pros and cons associated with it. I shop at Walmart all the time. I love Sam's and we spend a lot of money there. I don't eat at Mcdonalds and a lot of fast food because my body does not like it. Our country is going to have take a good hard look at this before it climbs to the 50% point.
  4. To an extent you are right. We seem to have made a decision that a percentage of our work force can not be trusted with a living wage. They would blow 1/2 the money and leave their children without food or shelter. So we pay or supplement Shelter, food, transportation, childcare and medical. If this is the truth, then why do we rail against the government for taxing the rest of us to pay for this? Granted the governments has pushed up the cost, you can't blame people for asking for more for a section 8 house then they would get on the free market. Same goes for childcare, if you can get more
  5. They will also be healthier and healthcare will be cheaper If they kill the middle class with fast food who will row the boat????
  6. Actually I would simply like to see them work their employees full time. They won't do it because you can pay part time a $1 less an hour. I am just not sure if folks can see the impact the business model has on the economy. If this was 10% of the over all economy it would not be that bad. It is going to get worse. The middle class can afford to pay a little more for things if it results in strengthening the economy and getting 40% of the population of subsidized living.
  7. I agree with much of what you have said. On the other hand people have good reason not to trust corporate America also. We have to machines in this country, our government and corporate America. We are caught in the middle. The more I read about business over seas the harder it is for me to consider less over sight for corporations. We see disasters where our government looks the other way. Not regulating the banks and lenders, not regulating immigration, and not regulating the insurance industry. The one thing in common with all three were the huge profits gained by a minority of people.
  8. See the budget by clicking here Yeah– now, when I first saw that, I assumed that the top line was for a part-time McDonald’s employee. Then I got out my calculator– that is actually what you would make if you were working full-time at McDonald’s. 1,105 dollars a month. Now let’s say that the “second” job that they budget in here (feels like cheating, but OK) is also minimum wage. That would mean you were working about 62 hours a week, on average. Oh, wait. That’s if they live in Illinois where the minimum wage is $8.25. The national minimum wage is $7.25. That translates to 74 ho

  11. Many people come out of poverty to become rich. I know that lack of ambition can be a big factor, but I think environment is the biggest factor, along with self esteem. If we all had the same ambition, billionaires would be the majority. The working poor slipped down from low middle class. Most of the people reading this have slipped down over the last 10 years. The poor didn't cause that. What ever the cause what we have been doing is not working. I think some people think it is worth the billions they cost us to keep them in their rightful place, in fact I think some people would like
  12. You are fixin to melt!! Yes he is a full blooded Pyr!
  13. I don't approve of giving anything to any body, that is what got us in this mess. People must work, unless you are disabled you will have to work, you will make enough for your rent, car, food, utilities, childcare and maybe extras if you are careful, but your not living in this housing anymore, we lock you out 3 months from today. My point is, poverty cost too much to not look at doing things extremely different. We keep doing the same thing, not only is it not changing it gets worse every year. We could not fail anymore than we already have, we know it's not working. Short of cutting pe
  14. Mr Dis explained it to me the other day, it is all about percentage points. They make everything ok when applied to the wealthy so we should be able to apply it to the poor and solve our problem in a way everyone will be happy. Mr. Dis is a professional with an education, he has worked hard and sacrificed and deserves all the good things that come with that. He wants x number of percentage points above the poor. The number is not relevant according to him. If the Waltons profit from their stores is only at 10% and that percentage represents 8 billion they are still taking a miniscule amou
  15. You might find this article interesting. High murder rates and poverty go hand and hand. You will find similar stats when it comes to drug abuse and incarceration. I know many think I lean extremely left when we discuss the issue of poverty. I think I would accept the title of being progressive in looking for solutions to our complex problems. In my mind we have 2 separate issues the 15% well below the poverty line, more than likely living in public housing projects the others working poor being supplemented. Both make up the majority of criminal activity. We have devalued labor to
  16. I know that laws differ from state to state. My understanding is that if you are found at fault in an accident when there is a fatality, you automatically are charged with manslaughter. If it is truly believed to be an accident, as in not under the influence or driving too fast, recklessly ect then they usually get probation. To me Zimmerman is guilty of manslaughter because he is at fault, he is the cause of everything that happened with the exception of Trayvon turning on him. Had he been wearing a badge proving his authority pursue this young man, he would have never turned and fought h
  17. Never heard him growl. When the other dogs get to close he snaps about 12 inches from their head, the teeth snapping on a dog that big is loud and scary. Chi's have terrible tempers, he does not allow it, he will take one leg and pull it against his chest and hold it until the fit is over. He breaks up fights that way, sometimes he will push them to the ground with a paw and hold them down. If the kitten cries he comes running, he will watch until I give it the bottle then he plops down and watches us.

  19. Dr. Clay says he thinks it's a girl, it is extremely hard at this age. He also told me hand raised kittens can become obnoxiously clingy. I have 4 chi's so I am use to clingy.
  20. It is really cute and amazing. It wraps it's little paws around the bottle and sucks hard. I put it on my shoulder and burp it just like a baby. It would not settle down after dinner, I had to groom it and talk to it like an infant to stop the fussing. It is going to be ruined.
  21. Thank you gog8ators for all the advice. I had to take the kitten to Dr. Leathers for the potty issues. He thinks that it may have been dehydrated when I first got it. I takes the bottle like a champ now and we did the stimulation, it worked good. I have named the kitten Kitta. Here are some pictures of it with Bear. I gave it to Bear as soon as I got it home. He will now not let any other animals near it. Very young kittens set of the predator instinct in dogs and cats. Not Bear.
  22. Low income people are dishonest, they steal, they want something for nothing. They vote left hoping to get something for nothing,A bunch of lazy people with low IQ's, don't you wish we could just exterminate them? Democrats are inherently dishonest and republicans are all extremely honest. Sooo if you give a democrat a good paying job would he automatically be an honest person and become a republican? About 15% of the population lives in true poverty, the rest are working poor and that number makes up the rest. If the 35% are working to earn money then why would they vote for a hand out
  23. I don't think lumping the problems together will solve the problem. We need to start addressing many of our problems by trying to do the best we can to help the people that are part of the problem, instead of these people are a problem to rid ourselves of any way we can. The negative nature of solving our problems always make them worse.
  24. Of course racism is rampant all over the world. I have no issue with black colleges, clubs,or anything else exclusively for blacks. I think it should be taken a step further. It seems that segregation is what many want, people practice it willingly. Segregation is only a problem when used to discriminate. We already have discrimination, check out public housing and see how many whites are there, you also see it in some cities with sanitation and other government jobs. This is not a rant about reverse racism. It is simply pointing out reality. We have to accept what is real in the here a
